We have 30 chickens, and after using this feeder, we have cut back on feed waste tremendously. We haven't needed to clean it, because water does not get into the ports. The only thing we occasionally clean is the top where chickens try to sit on it. The slant does not stop them from trying to roost on it. It holds ALMOST two bags of 50lb feed. There is so much less waste after using this feeder, because it doesn't fall out or get wet in the rain. I would recommend! ... show more

Chickens are too stupid to stick their head in the hole to eat. Have to scoop it to the edge of the box openings for them to see it. Thin metal but holds two bags of feed. The openings are deep so the chickens don’t like sticking their heads in that far. They get hungry enough they’ll eventually eat but they don’t like it. If I knew this I’d buy the type with a feed tray that autofills. 4 star because of the material being so thin and lid does not keep out all water. Glad I left it empty outside first as I found water in the bottom after a rain storm. I had to make sure zero rain fell on this. Kind of defeats the purpose so now I have it under my coop and at 100 lbs full, hard to move back under the coop after filling. It’s not a bad feeder, just doesn’t work great in my application and you’ll have to raise your baby chicks on this feeder, older chickens don’t catch on how this works…..needs to be a heavier gauge steel in my opinion, and seal better then I’d say 5 stars. ... show more

It’s absolutely adorable and not hideous like my garbage can feeder. This is my second year with it and it’s holding up beautifully. There still is a little wast. The girls do clean it up though. I love that it fits about 100 lbs of feed. It took a little time to put together. But it wasn't hard to do. I put the wire things you use to keep birds from nesting in your eaves. It helps keep the girls off the top for the most part. This is a huge feeder and really like all the openings around the bottom. It's very sturdy but one of the latches was not installed correctly so we can only latch one side of the lid. We didn't notice until my husband put it together so didn't return it.
