When bought 6/30/21, there were 129 reviews posted for the 20V Skil LT4823B-10, which was first available in early May 2021. Only a couple reviews were for this actual product by verified purchasers. Most were for the 40V model, or by reviewers receiving a free product. Want a real review by a verified purchaser? Read on. I selected this trimmer b/c this has bump-feed string while most now have auto-feed, which I discovered dispenses 1/4" of string every time you hit the trigger. No thanks. I think auto-feed refers to profit from string sales, and I've never had a problem w/bump feed. Another great and unique string-related feature is the "Patented Twist Load Head" that allows you to manually reload up to 16' of bulk string very easily and less expensively than buying preloaded spools. Haven't used this feature yet, but assuming it works it's a big plus. NOTE: Owners Manual pg 10 states replacement line Model Number = STL2000. Apparently due to being a new product, STL2000 string not available yet as confirmed by Skil Customer Service who said "any 0.08" line will do". Have read reviews for some line saying it didn't work well in a customer's trimmer, so wanted the best choice. The red braided line looks like Weed Warrior 0.08" Pulverized Twist, so that's what I ordered since Skil doesn't have their STL2000 line available yet. Other features leading to this purchase: brushless motor, 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery, 2 speeds, dual vs single cutting line, and included storage bracket. Also, Skil parent company is Chervon, which is same for the esteemed EGO products. That association can't hurt. My experience after first use: Assembly was EZ. You unfold the shaft, verify cable not pinched, then tighten 2 screws. Another 2 screws attach the guard, then just slide on and tighten down the handle. After charging the battery, ran it for approx 20-25", including cutting into some heavy tall grass. Ran on "LO", and this trimmer was tearing into the grass so aggressively that I don't know what I'd need "HI" for! Did everything asked of it very well -no complaints. Note that the trigger needs to be firmly held. I normally don't buy new products, but b/c this has so many great features from a good mfr, took a chance. Very happy so far. Still new though, therefore will update if anything changes. Recommended. ... show more

Love the trimmer, battery life, string load. Only bad thing for me is it’s so heavy. Granted I’m a older lady but dang I can barely get my job done. Can’t not without putting it down and taking several breaks before my arm feels like it’s going to fall off...

Had a Stihl gasoline, but was no good at pulling! So weed eating never got done! If hesitant about purchasing! Don’t be it’s so easy and lasts 30 minutes I charged battery and charges in 15 minutes! Perfect for break and back at it! I am 68 year old woman, 5’2”. I did lower the handle below where it shows! Otherwise to long! Does a wonderful job! ... show more

    • Best Battery Powered Garden Tools!
Style: 40V String Trimmer/Blower Kit
First thing I did opening the box. I pulled out the battery charger. Put the battery on the charger. I'll tell you what. Battery was charged about the time I had the trimmer and blower put together. I used the trimmer first. I can tell you I was mind blown within the first 5 min of using it. My yard was looking pretty shabby. Garden was over grown. I got my whole yard down before the battery went dead. I was on my last side of the sidewalk. Mind you not. I would of had more battery life. If I didn't have a lot of tall grass in my garden to take care. This Skil 40v Trimmer blew through weeds like it was butter. So I put the battery on the charger. It was done charging in 15 min. Super fast charger. I finished the rest of my trimming. Then went straight to the Skil 40v Blower. Pulled the battery out of the trimmer. Put it in the blower. Started to blow away all the grass and dirt debris. Mind blown again. This thing packs a tornado. Blows better then my ex-wife. Sheesh! The boost option is very nice for that extra punch. Cob webs don't even stand a chance. You as a consumer cannot go wrong with this purchase. Replacing the trimming line is very easy. Another thing a I love about this. Cut off 16 ft of line. Insert through one eyelet and out the other side. Pull the line through and make even. Just like a fresh pair shoe laces. When you're re-lacing your boots. Push in on the trimmer head. Turn the red cog wheel clockwise. Keep cranking till it pulls all your line in. Take you 2 min to replace your line. No pulling off trimmer heads and taking it apart. You can not go wrong with getting this product. I really can't find any cons. Only thing I can justify. Is buying another battery. Charging one while I work. But who cares. Can have a 15 minute drink break. Cheers! ... show more

    • Gas trimmer who?

I will NEVER go back to a gas string trimmer. Granted it's not as powerful as a gas trimmer but it was all I really needed for my yard. I got tired of dealing with my grass trimmer and decided to give this a try and fell in love instantly. It has enough power to cut areas around my house where I can't mow and that's enough for me. For my use, I had to use it on high because it would just keep cutting off on low because of the thick grass. I had to recharge the battery to finish so I'll probably end up ordering an extra battery but it's honestly worth it if that means I'll never need to use my gas trimmer again. :) ... show more

    • String Jams, Plastic Head Wear Out
Style: 40V String Trimmer Kit
40 V battery string trimmer. The head is made of plastic, when you tap it on the ground to give it more line the head gets beat up until it breaks. The line gets caught and stops feeding often. You have to take to cap off over and over to deal with the line and the cap/head gets so beat that it stops closing. It does not have much power for tall grass/weeds. You constantly have to add line to it. I am surprised anyone would accept this product. Maybe if you have a lawn that is soft and needs very little trimming it would work and last more than a few times but I have grass/weeds that sprang up that are 3 feet high, even after they dried the thing has trouble cutting them, you constantly have to give it more line until it jams or runs out. Why do we put up with continues breaking line, jamming ling, a product you tap or bang on the ground to feed the line out, a plastic head that when it spins hits a rock or the ground a wears its self down until it breaks. ... show more
