Our older version of this can lasted for over 9 years. This one is substantially improved in that the outer rim of the lid no longer moves and thus doesn't rub against anything - which is what did our old can in. It is also noticeably quieter than the old one.

I am a huge trash can snob. I had an Oxo for too many years because that company got out of the trash can business. What to do! I needed separate trash and recycling bins. An all-in-one would not do because I don't want my recycling smelling like food scraps, but I had limited space. I bought two of these in white and they are actually beautiful! I love the hard plastic lid, because the lid is where a can will rust. You can use standard kitchen drawstring bags, but why? The Simple Human bags are not much more expensive (especially since you get 20 percent off when you join their website) and they are SUPER strong and fit perfectly. You will not see the bag hanging over the lid in either case. That has been the dealbreaker for me with other cans. Get the Odor pods, too. Kills any smells. Love them. Hope they last because money. LOL ... show more

This was highly rated and elegant to look at, but no one was clear that it also fit a regular tall, kitchen garbage bag ... It does. You don't need to buy special bags. The collar lifts up, and you put in the bag, and then it's hidden. Gorgeous. It won't hold massive trash, but it's a full size kitchen trash bag, so not tiny. But if you're looking at this item, you're not trying to buy a huge container. Love it already. ... show more

This is possibly the last trash can you will ever buy. It is tough, works well and seems indestructible. Not sure about buying their bags. They are nice but more expensive. Sometimes you worry about price, but this will last forever. It is a good investment.

If you have a narrow space and want the perfect can this is the one for you and there garbage bags are the best I didn't get the motion detection can I use the foot lever w/ slow close lid but the company seems to have great things for the kitchen
