Description

A clean kitchen, made simple. simplehuman's 45L hybrid rectangular step can pairs a stainless steel liner rim with a dent-proof plastic body — the look of steel where it counts, the durability of plastic where it matters. simplehuman's patented Lid Shox® technology controls the motion of the lid for a slow, silent close every time, and the strong steel pedal is engineered for 150,000 steps — more than 20 steps a day for 20 years. The liner rim flips up for a quick liner change, then closes over the bag to grip and hide it — no bunching, no overhang. The built-in liner pocket® stores a 20-pack of simplehuman's Code K custom fit liners inside the can — no searching, no running out mid-change. Better together with simplehuman's Code K custom fit liners. Black plastic body is dent-proof and fingerprint-proof, built to take everyday kitchen wear. Backed by a 5-year warranty. • Good looking, sturdy trash can.
Color: Cream
I really like this. It looks good, looks durable. I'll probably subscribe to their liners too if I like the included ones as when I looked them up they're not overpriced or anything. It's a little bit big at the top because of the foot pedal lid mechanism, but barely any bigger than the simple manual lid one that I had. It'll barely a little harder to clean the inside if I let it get gunk in it for the same reason only because the inside is not flat and somewhat oval. Good purchase for me! ... show more

    • Simply the best
Color: Black
This trashcan is the best trashcan I've ever had. I'm going to echo the other reviewers here but I will not plagiarize. This really is a wonderful trash can and I can't believe I'm actually saying that. I guess I like it so much because I've only ever had trashcans that suck. Everything about this trashcan is fantastic. There's a pocket for extra trash bags on the backside of the can. My little boy likes folding up trash bags and stuffing them into this pocket. The foot pedal is well balanced with the trash can and when you step on it, the trash can doesn't lurch forward at you like other trash cans. The lid closes slowly so you can toss something extra in if you didn't remember the first time. The top rim lifts up and easily stands open so you can lift out a full trash bag and insert a new one. This is a terrific feature as most others have to be held open while you get the bag in only to have the lid slam down so hard that the bag falls into the can. NOT SO with this beauty. Now, it comes with simplehuman trash bags designed for this product that fit the trash can perfectly. They are lovely trash bags and durable as well. If you like higher quality trash bags, I recommend them, but they're not in my budget and so I buy the regular stretchy ones with the drawstring ties at the wholesale/bulk-item store nearest to me. The regular drawstring tie trash bags fit this can quite nicely. They are tight around the top rim of the can and I really like that because that means the they are NOT going to fall into the can no matter what I put in there. The store bags fit so well that we are able to stuff each bag so full that the bag will rip down lower but will never come loose at the top. This is not a problem for me. My beef with all other trash cans I've ever had was that the lid didn't keep the darn bag attached to the can, no matter what. Sometimes the top part of the bag will pop a bit where the drawstrings are, but this doesn't concern me, because the bag doesn't ever rip from the top. This trash can is easy to clean. Although this may not mean much, the stickers that came on the trash can were easy to remove too. I think the lid closing slowly is probably my favorite feature because I had grown so tired of the slamming lids of other trash cans. I have three children and a husband and so the old trash can made a heck of a lot of noise for a very long time. I'm so glad that I spent a little bit more and treated myself to this trash can. When people come to visit and compliment the trash can (can you believe that? that's how cool this thing is...) I can't help but tell them how much I like it. It's crazy that a trash can makes a difference in daily life in the kitchen, but it does. I can honestly say that I love this trash can. ... show more

    • Looks Good & Functions Well-Update: Durable, Odors Smell Very Strong When Can Opened
Color: Gray
Update 1/26/24: This can has held up amazingly well after years of daily use, but I did discover one thing I dislike about it. While it’s fine when closed, trash odor is unusually strong when I open the lid. I assume the wide opening is a factor as it may allow more odor to escape and maybe I fill the can more as I can utilize all the space in the bag and still easily pull the full bag out of the can. Whatever the reason, I’ve never noticed such a strong odor as I do using this can. It’s a great can, but the smell can be really unpleasant. Original review: I bought this trash can in grey for a family member and liked it so much I decided to buy one for myself. I’ve had a Simplehuman stainless steel trash can in the kitchen for years, and it was very good. But it was hard to keep shiny, the finish wasn’t looking great, and the lid clanked against the cabinet if it was positioned too close. It also started to get rust spots underneath the lid. So I’ve moved that can into the garage to use for recycling. I’m so happy with this new Simplehuman trash can. While it’s mostly plastic, it looks quite nice and still compliments my stainless steel appliances given the grey color, stainless steel band around the top of the front and steel foot pedal. This trash can has a wide opening at the top so it’s hard to miss getting the trash in the can, yet it has a slim profile so it can be pushed close to the cabinet. The lid doesn’t fly all the way back, so it doesn’t hit the cabinet. Plus, it’s a slow closing lid and doesn’t clank. There’s a space in back to store the liners- super convenient as I don’t have to go out to my garage cabinets to grab a new bag every time I empty the trash. Ten sample liners (K type) are included and fit perfectly. They’re ultra high quality liners so, of course, I now want to buy more. But my regular 13 gallon trash bags fit fine, and the design of the lid hides the top of the bags well and keeps them from falling in. This trash can is also easier to keep clean than my stainless steel can. I’m happy with everything about this trash can. 5 stars. ... show more

    • Worth the money to me!!!
Color: Gray
The look on my husband's face when I told him I had ordered an $80 trash can (80 at the time... I think the price may have gone up since then) was simultaneously hilarious and also a little concerning.... I was really hoping that it would turn out to be decent and worth the money. I mean, either way, I would be right... but still, it's nice to actually be right when you're right. Ya know? Anyways, the $80 trash can definitely ended up being worth the money... although my husband would never admit this. But I think he likes the fancy features too... even if he doesn't find them necessary. Lol. Of course, the silent-close lid (that really is silent) and the little pedal to open it are super convenient and function very well. But then the added details, like the inner liner pocket dispenser and stabilizer bar on the bin are some of my favorite things about it overall. I will say that while I was a little annoyed when I realized that this can took custom bags and could not fit the regular kitchen-sized bags that we'd usually buy, the K bags that are made for it are really good quality and provide some extra space as well as less tearing than any of the Hefty ones I'd used in the past. It's easy to clean, does everything it's supposed to (and a lil extra) and looks extremely nice in the small kitchen we have (without taking up too much space). What more could you ask for with a trash can? haha. ... show more

We are very pleased with this garbage can. It fits in a very slim space, looks very good out in the open-we love the soft grey, opens and closes smoothly and quietly and the bag storage system is great. We both agree it is well worth the money.

Color: Indigo
I really love this garbage can. Trash stinks when you open it sometimes but other than that it is good quality and seems like it should hold up for a long time to come.

    • Modern design, nice blush color that compliments the kitchen, easy to use.
Color: Blush
Arrived in one piece: with the lid and no dents. One thing I am not happy about is mentioned by everyone else who bought this design: none of other than SH bags fits it. We have the SH can we are using now, it will go in the backyard, for which we were buying bags that size anywhere we wanted. Not with this new can . Then again, if it’s of any solace, "elsewhere’s" are now charging the same as SH. No regrets on this part. This is the UPDATE: all the comments regarding fitting garbage bags are true. I’ve tried different companies, as I’ve done for years for the SH trash cans, with this can - NOT ONE will fit this particular can except their own K. On a positive note, "other companies" I was buying from before raised their prices to match SH. So no loss there, just keep it in mind ... show more
