I bought this as a mother's day gift for my grandmother. Unfortunately, despite following the instructions the plant did not grow, nor bloom. This is just a risk one takes with bulbs sometimes as they are living things and it may just be that we got unlucky on this occasion. Purchased the wax silver Amaryllis and placed it in sunlight for over 8 weeks - NOTHING. Not a trace of green sprouting. I bought one for gift also - they had same problem and after 9 weeks threw it out. Guess it is too good to believe that I could grow a flower without any effort - live and learn. Shame on Beck's for selling the product - I updated this because Beck's Bulb sent a fast hassle free refund - THANKS ... show more

Arrived Dec. 15. Immediately took it out of the box and set it on my desk under my (rather tall) lamp. My living quarters are rather dark, so no sunny window. Immediately started growing. Produced 4 spectacular blooms over the next 4-6 weeks. Now a second blooming stalk has come up with 4 more spectacular blooms. This has given me so much pleasure! I purchased one of these from a local store and thought they would make an excellent holiday season gift so purchased these bulbs for each of my two children as gifts. I understand the chance sending live plants across country and the two I sent were going to cold climates. Unfortunately neither of them did anything. They just would come to life. The one from my local florist gave me three individual buds that bloomed beautifully! We gave the two from the Holland Bulb Farms about two months and I requested a refund. The Company issued my refund immediately. I gave this item high ratings because they ARE easy to grow - you do nothing to them. I feel they are super giftable - ANYBODY can "grow" this and purchasing here was quite a bit cheaper than what I paid locally for mine. This is a one time bulb, however.
