- COCONUT COIR SOIL BLEND: Our bonsai soil contains coconut coir, which is good to germination and can promote the growth of plants. It is compressed into soil discs (1.5" in thickness, each soil disc weighs 2oz) for easy package and can expand into 10 times as large as what it was after absorbing the water. 4 soil discs are sufficient enough for the beginning of the plant growing.

It's a nice kit, aside from the fact that the seeds provided in mine would not germinate. I understand some of the seeds may take between 2 and 8 weeks to germinate and begin to grow, but Amazon only has a 30 day return window. I did not see any germination by day 29, so I returned this item on day 30. All services for this seller are provided by Amazon, and it's impossible to contact the seller directly. Either that, or I haven't figured out how to do so. I was forced to interact with the AI chat bot and got no resolution aside from returning the item. I'm now on the hunt for a kit that will actually grow.

As a plant addict, I always wanted a Bonsai Tree! This little kit has 5 cute little pots for your 5 different varieties of trees. It comes with complete, specific instructions, including soaking the seeds 1st. This is a very important step in growing many trees, shrubs & even some flower varieties. This would be a super great gift for a child interested in horticulture! They would be a great gift to give to anyone who loves plants like me. I cannot wait until they start growing. I will be reading books about Bonsai while I eagerly await my "Precious" little trees to sprout! I think this was great value for the money because it includes everything you need to start. I know when they get larger, they will have to have wire wrapping around certain parts to control what grows & what changes their shapes. I love to continue to learn new things at my age. LOL I may have to wait a while to tell you if they sprout well. I am sure they will because the growing medium is like little peat pots.

First off this is not my first rodeo with seeds in general, I start a lot of my garden from seed every year. I followed the directions exactly. This annoyed my wife to no end, little bowls of water and seeds all over the kitchen counter for days and days. I had one seed successfully germinate. I planted all of them. I used the little pots provided and then used a flat of seedling cells to plant the rest and only one came up. I left 2 stars because it’s a decent set of beginner pots and tools for seeing if you want to dive in for real. After doing a lot of research while I was waiting for my seeds to sprout I found that seeds are not recommended for beginners as even if you can get them to sprout it takes years before you can do anything with them. In the future I will be out taking saplings from the woods or air laying from friends and family. Beginner beware.
