INSTALL TIP: Before mounting the handle, get a clean hand mirror (or use the side of a glazed ceramic toilet). Dry your hands, the mirror (toilet) and the surface you plan to mount the handle on. Now, run a finger slowly over the mirror (toilet), then run it over the surface you plan to use. If the surface you plan to use isn't as smooth as the mirror or ceramic the handle may stick poorly or not at all. Even if the proposed surface has teeny tiny micro bumps on the surface, it will probably not work. It’s extremely well-made. When you lock it on a smooth surface you know it’s going to support a lot of weight. My experience is that when the handle is mounted on a smooth surface, it doesn't lose it's grip overnight or even after weeks!! However, prudence is warranted to test it before each use. The design of the grip 'alert' mechanism is a weak point. In theory, the red alert icon should raise slightly if the grip is weak. Initially, when I first chose a poor mounting surface, the handle lost grip overnight (my fault), but I could not discern any change in the alert button. I’m deducting one star because I think the suction status indicator is not as well designed as some of the other brands. On the other hand, the grab bars that have a super Duper alert indicator have complaints from users that the bar itself is kind of flimsy. Flimsy this bar is not. It is a beast and supports a lot of weight.

I know you'd think it's just a handle bar. For me, I needed it for securing a shower chair down in the tub. This is the most secured handle bar available out there. I have left a review on the shower chair I have settled in for my 4 feet tall elderly mother. This is to provide you a vision of how I made the decision to select this handle bar than the others. Functionality, safety, security. Shower Chair Review: I was referred to directly contact Carex due to my need of additional "tub grippers" by the seller. The seller was quick to reply. However, Carex themselves never responded to my reach out. So, I have to come up with another solution to use this shower chair. This shower chair is for my 80yo elderly mother with Alzheimer's. She's only 4 feet tall and I needed a chair that would allow her feet to comfortably touch the ground while seated in the shower or tub. Also, this would allow me to bring this chair with us when traveling. My mom's apartment is very old and so is the bathtub. This chair wouldn't fit as the gripper sliding window is too narrow. I wish they can make them wider so it can fit many different sizes of bathtubs. Who knows, they may even get international orders. I had to modify the tub grippers where all 4 of them will "hug" the outer side of the tub. My only concern is, what would hold the other side when there's no grippers on them. A slight move from my mom while seated and grab the "blue" handle bar (which I removed) can cause a slip and fall. I'd never be able to forgive myself if that happens to my mom. So with my research, I found this particular handle bar. I cleaned the wall and finished it up with rubbing alcohol to dry. I made sure the handle bar is pressed downward to hold the shower chair. The chair is no longer moving nor lifting. The instructions is to re-attach the handle bar once a week which I'll include in my routine when I clean the whole shower. Stickers were not in the box to assist with installation. Amazon didn't believe me that stickers are supposed to come with the kit. Offered me Gorilla Glue Tape. LOL. Would not even hold on suction for 2 hours. Junk!
