  • Easy to use and maintain; effective cleaning performance
I couldn’t decide between the corded Hyrovac and the corded Bissell Crosswave until I saw a head-to-head comparison video of the two on Vacuum Wars. The key points that swayed my decision to the Hydrovac were the much easier filter cleaning, the easier self-cleaning, the better/smoother swivel action, and the fact that, despite less raw power, the effective cleaning ability was a draw between the two. Add to that the much lower price for the Hydrovac and the decision was easy. So far I’ve been very pleased with this. It’s easy to use, does a very nice job on tile floors, and is easy to maintain. The cons for me are mostly along the lines of build quality issues. For example, the filter holder is not all that sturdy, so you need to take care when opening it to not break the plastic tabs. But, I have two other Shark vacs, and while they both have some less than ideal build quality issues, neither has failed on me yet. So I’m hoping for an equally long life from this Hydrovac. You can use other cleaners in this provided they are low/no suds. The Shark cleaner works well, but it’s quite pricey. There are other equally good cleaners from Hoover, Bissell and commercial cleaners (such as Ludmark) that cost less per use and work just fine in the Hydrovac. You don’t want to use an acidic cleaner (such as vinegar) or any cleaner that has suds since those will damage the water pump in the Hydrovac. It’s well worth picking up a spare set of filters and rollers. While the roller gets pretty well cleaned in the self-clean cycle, it’s still worth giving it a good hand wash. Plus, it’s not recommended to store the machine with a wet roller or wet filter to prevent mold/mildew. If you have spares you can swap out the wet ones for dry ones, and let the wet ones air dry. The Hydrovac has cut down on my cleaning time without any decrease in how clean the floors get. That’s worth five stars in my book! ... show more

  • Absolutely Amazing - So clean its disgusting
I am absolutely convinced that SHARK puts dirt in their solution because I am in absolute denial that floor get that disgusting that fast. I own 3 of these things. 1 for my house and 2 for a 10ksqft house I manage. I have a 100 yr old home in Chicago and I swear this thing is pulling up hair caught in the oak and maple floor crack and the water is filthy after 2 - 3 days and there is only 2 of us living here, I have another as well as a cordless version in a house I manage and there are 2 adults and 2 kids and it has the same results. hair, crumbs, dirt, and brackish water.... and the home is only 4 months old. EDGE CLEANING TO THE WALL IS EXCELLENT Word of caution - I got caught in an emergency and left my tank full after picking kitty kibble and some hair and dirt and crumbs and was gone 2 days. The worst smell...like a sewer. EMPTY your machine and run the clean cycle at the end of every use. You will thank me. Advice. Pretreat anything that you know is crummy. Tomato spill from last nights spaghetti thats dried... errant fruit label . The machine will clean on its own, but faster if you take a minute and pretreat areas and work your way to them with the machines. It will pick up crumbs, rice, hair, kibble, glitter, etc. Don't try to pick up things like twist ties or ziplock bags. I saw some reviews of people complaining that they tried to vacuum up a shopping bag and the other guy a shoelace..... try not to be a moron. Guess what ...if you go over gravel it won't pick that up either. I am not a real fan of the scent. I'll post videos... although itll be embarrassing I don't think I'm dirty. I use this thing every other day. I want to buy one for every floor. ... show more

  • Does a good job but very sensitive
I was really excited to receive this item and honestly I love it, it makes cleaning so much quicker and easier doing the vacuuming and mopping in one go and it leaves my floors clean. I am so pleased I bought the corded version and not the rechargeable one as it does take a few passes to get everything clean. A couple of things I'm not thrilled about 1. It's very sensitive so if you accidentally touch a chair leg or the couch with it, it will stop running and you have to open the brush roll cover and close it again for it to restart. 2. The self clean does not get the brush roll clean and you have to take it out and manually clean it each time. 3. The capacity of the dirty water tank isn't as big as the clean, so usually I have to empty the dirty tank before the clean tank is done. 4. It does not separate the dry mess from the wet very well, and it's quite hard to clear out the dry mess as it's all wet, it's especially hard if you have pet hair. Other than those niggly things it does do a great job on our tiled floors and even socks up dirty water I've scrubbed the bathroom floor with (all be it with several tank empties) My dog cut his foot whilst walking and I used the hyrdovax to clear up the dry blood from the tile and it got it up with just 2 passes. I cleaned one or 2 spots by hand and really had to scrub it to get it up ( it had only been there 10 mins) so I was impressed it cleaned that up so well. ... show more

  • So far it works well as wet mop
So far it works well as a wet mop and it goes over the ruggables rugs we have too. It did clean the ruggables a little but not great. It is not a vacuum or a scrubbing wet mop. I have to vacuum first and then do this mopping vacuum. It gets it clean but can’t get into grout or brush up stuck on chunks. It is much quieter than other types and very nimble, quick, and lightweight. Great if you vacuum up dog hair first and use regularly. Clean up is easy too. This will not replace even a cheaper carpet shampooer! It just gets top dust off rug not grounded in dirt. I had the hover floor mate- it breaks and has to be replaced every 18-24 months. That one will scrub and gets more water onto the floor and back into the dirty water side. So chunks and grout come out better. But it is loud and heavy. ... show more
