  • Great carpet cleaner
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
My Bissell carpet cleaner just broke so I bought this during prime days. I have a long haired cat who mainly occupies the downstairs of my house which is all carpet. He on occasion hacks up hairballs and what not or will run his butt along the carpet if his you-know-what is in his fur. Sometimes my 1yr old will spill the cats water or the cats wet cat food has splattered for whatever reason. So I always have a shampooer in my house and have always shampooed my carpets in general. So far It’s done very well the few times I’ve used it. Its cleaned any stains up even old ones I couldn’t get up in the past. I haven’t had to pretreat, where with my bissel I would have to. It’s very light and easy to maneuver around. My last two carpet cleaners,Hoover and Bissell, were bulky My favorite is the hose/spot cleaner attachment is all there and ready to go. My last two were separate, so you had to go get the hose and hook it up and take it off, which was not convenient imo. I also like that it has a dry only option so you can really make sure your carpet is dry. Which brings me to the suction, it’s strong. My Bissel was not as good. I like the hair collector basket in the dirty water canister. It’s easy to remove the canisters for tossing out the dirty water, and cleaning it, or refilling cleaner canister. It is sort of loud, not any louder than the other carpet cleaners I’ve had but I don’t really care about that personally. Overall I’m pleased with this purchase it’s, kind of expensive but it works exceptionally well. I feel it’s worth it with the results I’ve gotten and ease of use. Plus it will last along time. ... show more

  • Best for small jobs
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
Overall it's amazing and lives up to the shark brand. Pros: High quality material. Doesn't seem like it will break easily. As expected of Shark appliances. easy to use **as long as you follow the directions.** This is a carpet cleaner not a vacuum. Definitely cleans up tough and old stains. I mean pet stains that have sat for a year or more. Exceeded expectations. Simple design and good ergonomics. Easy to refill and clean. Cons: this model is designed more for spot clean ups and not entire rooms at once. If you intend to clean an entire bedroom carpet your going to refill at least 4 times. Dirty water tank is smaller than expected. I have to empty 3-4 times in-between refills. Power cord is a bit shorter than expected. Cleaner refills average $20 for 48oz. TLDR: Best for spot clean ups and will definitely clean it. ... show more

  • Does a great job
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
This has a lot more suction and cleaning power than the Hoover that I had before. Thought it did a great job.

  • Great results, small tank
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
My 15 year old well-loved Bissell was done. I love Shark so I decided to try this one. I have kids and dogs. The cleaning power is really great. So much dirty water! The capacity for both cleaning solution and dirty water is tiny making this a very long process. I was shampooing my living area rug 9x14 and had to dump the water no less than 8 times and refill the tank no less than 4 times. Yes, the dirty water tank is smaller than the solution tank. It comes with a small bottle of solution and I used the entire thing, running out before the 4th tank refill. At $25 per bottle, I hope the bottle I purchased is much larger. I never used this much solution or had to refill while cleaning a single area rug with my Bissell. I missed this when purchasing. I expect it to cover a single rug or small room per tank. ... show more

  • Do not pass this by
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
UPDATE: This carpet cleaner makes me smile every time I use it. I have no complaints at all, it still cleans like the 1st day I took it out of the box, it doesn't leak, it doesn't leave water stains and it doesn't leave any dirt behind. This small yet large on durability carpet cleaner is a keeper for sure. I used to hate when it was time to clean the carpets now I clean them because I want to use this machine and watch it work its magic. I HIGHLY recommend. ... show more

  • Great performance and simple to clean after
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
I had an older carpet cleaner and while it did a serviceable job cleaning, it was a HUGE pain to clean everything out once finished. I'm very happy with this one. I cleaned an area rug yesterday and it came out great. It dispenses the cleaning water automatically when you push forward, and switches to suction (drying when you pull it backward). You do not have to manipulate a trigger. It also has a dry-only mode for going over the area once finished, which makes the dry time shorter. The best thing though is the dirty water tank and brush roll were a SNAP to clean out after. You just detach it from the cleaner, open the lid, clean out the hair trap (which works great) and dump out the grey water. Rinse out the tank and put back. Couldn't be simpler. I have not tested the onboard handheld cleaning wand but I would expect it to perform well. My only complaint would be that the dirty water tank fills up pretty rapidly so you spend a few trips emptying out the tank before the job is done if you're doing a room or a large carpet. Another complaint is that the supplied cleaning solution does not smell good and leaves a lingering smell in the room. The instructions say that the machine is designed to use only their cleaner, but I think we all know that's nonsense. I will switch to another cleaning solution. ... show more

  • Both the Best and the Worst Carpet Cleaner I've ever used.
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
How well this cleaner works depends entirely it seems on what type of carpet you're trying to clean. I have two area rugs in my house - this is the best shampooer I've ever used on one, and the worst on the other. Both rugs are fairly low pile, but totally different material/feel. One is an almost velvety feeling synthetic rug (think closer to a standard, cheapish area rug like you'd find at a big box store), and this works great on it. I also have a large no-pile 100% cotton rug, and this doesn't work at all for it (every other shampooer I've had worked fine). An important thing to note with this model is that there is no trigger to dispense solution, it does it automatically with forward movement. That feature doesn't work on the cotton rug - it was dry as a bone after multiple forward only passes. When I use the upholstery attachment to get solution onto the carpet, the main unit won't pick up the solution unless I lightly step on the front of the unit to get better contact with the rug. Even then, this rug took substantially longer to dry because I was not able to adequately remove the water/solution (that I had to manually add because the unit would not dispense on that particular surface). I do really like the option for dry only (no dispensing of water/solution). For the rug this unit worked on, I was able to have the rug almost completely dry immediately (even after including a "rinse" pass and putting down additional liquid), which was great. The pet hair "catcher" is fantastic. Considering my house is vacuumed a couple times a day, I was amazed at how much it picked up, and I loved that it was all captured in the little basket vs floating around in the dirty solution (and ultimately clogging my sink when I tried to empty it). Also, the upholstery attachment works phenomenally. I have both a little green machine and an upholstery steam cleaner, and this seems to outperform both. One last note, this came to be with a piece broken on the handle. I didn't realize that's what the random little plastic piece was until the handle wasn't wanting to stay in the machine and I looked it up. I'm able to make it work as it's not worth sending back as defective after unboxing and using it, but I'm annoyed. Bottom line, I bought this at a steep discount ($120 cheaper than what it's currently listed at), so I'm just trying to figure out how to make it work for the "other" rug, but if I had paid full price, I definitely would have sent this back. A carpet cleaner that costs over $300 should reliably work on all types of carpet, imo, and this definitely doesn't. ... show more

  • Good for general carpet cleaning but disappointing for cleaning up pet accidents or deep spills.
Style: CarpetXpert HairPro + Spot & Stain
Pros -Lighter weight than other carpet cleaners I’ve tried. -Excellent at removing embedded pet hair. Gets everything my vacuum cleaner missed. -Good for light-medium carpet cleaning carpet dries very fast. -Can switch to dry only mode. -Clean water reservoir is easy to carry and install. -Lots of areas you can open or remove for cleaning clogs. -Dirty water tank separates hair and fibrous materials from the water. Dump the liquid in the toilet and the hair wad goes in the garbage. -Smaller and less bulky than other carpet cleaners I’ve used. Easy to carry and move. Cons -The upright cleaner does well at removing liquid from the carpet but doesn’t do as well with extracting liquid from the carpet pad which is a necessity if cleaning up a liquid spill or pet accident. On very light-colored carpets deeply cleaning a mess that has penetrated the carpet and carpet pad leaves a water stain on the rug after it dries. So, after the carpet dries from an actual deep cleaning, you have to do a second light cleaning the get rid of the water stain in the carpet. -Only vacuums when moving backwards. There is a switch on the bottom that toggles between spray mode (forward) and vacuum mode (backward), but even when Dry Only is turned on it only vacuums as you pull the unit backwards. This means only half your movements are doing anything in Dry Only mode. Also, it has to be pulled back a certain amount to trigger the suction. The carpet becomes damp from the cleaner slightly farther then you can reach with in vacuum mode. So cleaning the carpet along the wall edge of a room or large objects is very difficult unless you have the space go along the wall in parallel or use the handheld tool along the edges. -The clean water reservoir leaks from the handles slightly when you’re filling it. -When removing and carrying the dirty water tank the dirty water can slosh or drip out of the bottom. Make sure to hold a rag underneath it when carrying it until you empty it. ... show more
