Actually, it's got more features than I need. I think. I'm not really sure. Do I need my upright to be able to convert to a canister vacuum? I guess if I want to use to to clean the inside of my truck, then the answer is "yes". I was torn between this $219 Shark, and a $599 Dyson. I posted the question on Facebook. The Dysons got good reviews 80% of the time, and horrible reviews the other 20, all because of reliability. Everyone that has a Shark loves it. I checked Consumer Reports, and the Shark rated higher. It also rates higher on Amazon. So, I bought this very versatile, extremely powerful, Shark. When I told our maid (why didn't I ask her before I bought it's?), she was thrilled. Many of her clients have Dysons, and she doesn't care for them. One has a Shark, and she said she loves it. Today is her first day using it in our home. The amount of dog fur, dust, dirt etc it vacuumed up in just our daughter's bedroom, is more than our Bissel would pick up in the entire house. I thought I wouldn't like the narrow width. It would take longer to vacuum a room right? Well, not really, and here is why-It is very light, and it sucks like a beast. This means you can vacuum faster with less effort. I love it. My maid loves it. Forget Dyson, buy a Shark! Update-Did I mention the suction power of this vacuum? I'm a guy. I love power. I was sitting in my recliner in the living room. My maid had the crevice tool on the hose vacuuming around the edges of the hardwood floors, and the tops of the base molding in the foyer. I could feel the air discharging from the vacuum 16 feet away from me! If it's blowing that much air, it indicates it is sucking massive amounts too! With our old vacuum, when she was done with the whole house, the canister would be about half full. That canister was about 2/3s the size of this one. We've already emptied this canister once because it was full, and it looks like it is going to get filled again. So, this vacuum is picking up almost 3x more dirt than the old one. I showed her how to turn off the beater bar to use it on hardwood, how you can remove just the handle and not the entire nozzle section, and all the other features on it. She was amazed with everything it does, how versatile it is. She was also a little embarrassed that she didn't know about all of the features, since one of her other clients has one. She is now going to recommend the Shark to all of her clients that are looking to buy a new vacuum. Just so you understand what I'm saying, a professional cleaning lady, who uses clients vacuums (so homes don't get cross contaminated with pet dander and such) is now recommending the Shark to all of her clients! To me, that speaks volumes about how great it is. Another update-It's time to throw away the broom and dustpan. Turn off the beater bar, and it cleans the hardwood floors much better than a broom. The dog hair doesn't blow around in the wind like it does with a broom. No little streaks of dirt like with a broom. Our maid loves it more and more as she uses it. I've had this vacuum for a little over 3 years now and it is still going strong; it is the best vacuum I've ever owned bar none. When it goes I will get another Shark, this model if it's still available. I cannot say enough good things about it. I do the filter changes within the recommended time frames that I'm supposed to and honestly the motor is just so powerful and the suction has stayed just as strong as when I first bought it. Off-brand filters are incredibly easy to find as well and are very reasonably priced. The attachments that come with the vacuum are incredibly versatile and well made. The wand release and lift away feature are so helpful with getting stairs. All of the bristles on the main brush are still very together and firm there's absolutely no wear on them or fraying. Some people like to say " they don't build them like they used to" about a lot of consumer products out there. Well... those people would be wrong about this vacuum this is probably one of the best things you can buy for your household and count on it to work reliably day after day year after year. I would also like to add that I have been a bit rough with this vacuum like I am not a delicate person I've slammed this thing around a bit. am I the only person out there who really puts their rage and emotion into their vacuuming? I seriously doubt it but let me tell you this vacuum can handle just about anything you can throw at it. Also, I love how easy it is to clean hair and strands of fiber or string out of the main brush roll with the rich grooves that they've created in the brush roll itself so that you can slide a sharp pair of scissors or a knife into the groove and cut the fibers or hairs and then pull them out from the brush roll. It's really hard to understand why all vacuums aren't designed the way that this one is and have the features that this one does and have the kind of quality that the shark vacuum does. I swear that I'm not a bot or some kind of like salesperson for shark this is just really an awesome vacuum and I could rant about it all day because out of all the things that I use in my house on a daily basis this is probably my favorite and not only that but it actually looks nice too. you know how a lot of things that are white plastic that you buy get that ugly yellow dinge within a short amount of time? This vacuum is not in that category mine still is the same nice white color It had when it was purchased. All of the rubber and silicone dust seals and the places where different components of the vacuum that are removable meat are still very well sealed and there are no air leaks in the hose either I swear to God this vacuum is like a miracle that something this could can actually exist. Most stuff made out there by most companies whether it be cell phones or cars are designed to break I feel like within a few years. Maybe I just somehow got a magical vacuum that was like blessed by you know the goddesd of home economics or something but in all seriousness BUY THE VACUUM. ... show more

    • Great inexpensive vacuum
This vacuum is the only vacuum that can handle my golden retrievers long hair. I have tried about 15 different models in every price range and they have all broke with in a month. The suction is decent and the attachments are easy to use. It’s very light weight. The lift off feature is nice for dusting up high or vacuuming the stairs. The lights are decently bright for all those dark corners . The dust bin holds a lot. ... show more

    • Not what it used to be..
I bought this model around 9 years ago and it was a great vacuum! In fact, the best vacuum I’ve ever owned.. after 9 years it was wearing out so I bought a different shark model. That model was not as good and I was quite disappointed. I decided I would buy this model again. Although, it is the same model, they have cheapened it. It doesn’t come with the same attachments and the hoses seem to be not the same good quality. I don’t understand why companies do this!? Charge a little more and offer the same great vacuum! I’m hoping they kept the same motor and didn’t cheapen the internal parts.. it does have great suction and works well, so far! Time will tell! ... show more
