Bought a V15 cordless at Costco and tried at my small apartment building, mostly short (berber) carpeted stairs, some deep carpet living areas, and some bare LVP floors like kitchens & baths. Could see no sense in running it at any less than max suction, which it works OK'ish but only ran ~15 mins on it's fully charged 3600mAh OEM battery, barely could finish just the stairs. So bought an aftermarket V15 battery (+$100). Sidenote: Found aftermarket battery sellers use totally deceptive power ratings (9000mAh, ha ha) for same or less power than OEM battery. They are not oversized like other power tool batteries. The sellers just lie, Amazon tolerates. Finally concluded the cordless battery vacs just weren't ready for prime time (for me) and returned V15, then shopped corded, ending-up with this Shark. Shark-Ninja copied the cyclonic Dyson type filtering that works great, but this one never runs out of power, and even got most of a dirt container from a carpet previously just vacuumed by the V15. Both were using their powered brush roller attachments. The included smaller roller brush is air-powered to spin the brush wheel, which I was dubious about but have to admit seems to work almost as good as the similar electric powered Dyson pet/stairs/upholstery tool. Seems alot less to fail with the air-powered version, but will see. Both units really don't collect hairs on brushes, yippee! Build Quality might be a smidge better on the Dyson, but both are total plastic gizmos. I had no interaction with the Shark customer service, can't speak to that. The main difference between this corded Shark HZ2002 and the battery Dyson V15 is just the power source, otherwise very similar stick-vac machines. Dyson included a zillion (10?) attachments most I never figured out, Shark just 3 basic ones. I've used corded machines all my life, sure cordless is nice but batteries run-out and wear-out and go obsolete so quick (the plan). I'll deal with the cord, no sweat. Same for alot of equip I own. I paid $300 on Amazon for this Shark Vertex Ultralight HZ2002 and was happy, as it was LESS THAN HALF the Dyson V15. But when posting this review today I see they've lowered the price to $180 now... a steal so getting a 2nd HZ2002. IF it's discontinued I wonder why? Maybe somebody will post status? ... show more

UPDATE: 11/11/25. I need to update. I was WRONG about the stand. I was looking for another one since they are on sale right now and DISCOVERED THAT Shark has added a stand to this item and the Pro. I am delighted so I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE TODAY for upstairs! Now, I can donate that old XXX heavy vacuum. Thank you, Shark! j c I bought this vacuum in May 2025, and I am sorry I didn't buy it when it was first available. After lugging a bigger vacuum cleaner around the house, this vacuum cleaner has made everything so much easier. At 7.6 lbs., it is so much easier to get up the stairs. AND - here is a big one - it is so much easier to take off the wand and VACUUM the stairs. It goes everywhere the old big, earthbound one cannot. I would recommend wearing earplugs. The floor nozzle pivots easily and is flat enough to get under so much more. Transition from carpet to short carpet to hard floor could not be easier - small thumb movement. Attachments are well done. Dropping the dirt into a bag is really easy. The best part is it has VERY STRONG SUCTION - that really surprised me. It leaves tracks in the carpet the same or BETTER than my old conventional style. Super easy to simply detach the top for quick pick up, or to get places. I would suggest to Shark to make a stand that snaps-on/clamps on the wand; or a permanent one of the newer models. Not interested in buying a stand for $$. l won't buy something that won't stabilize the vacuum while in use. This is truly a must because since it can't stand well as it is, and stopping the vacuum to move stuff, putting it down on the floor, top can get warm, slows down the task. Bottom line - great suction, light weight, very maneuverable, easy to do stairs via just the top part. Check. Oh wait - how about vacuuming the car?? Check and Check ... show more
