  • TEN STARS if I could!
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
Oh my goodness! Where can I even begin! I was a proud owner of the iRobot i7 vacuum for years and THOUGHT because it was automated, that I could trust that it was doing its job in keeping my place clean. I could not have been more wrong! Over time, I started having major issues with the robot going around and around in circles around a table leg, or getting lost from the base, or getting stuck under something! I was so over it! 🤬 Figured I’d just get back to basics and research the best corded vacuum. In my quest, a coworker told me about the Shark stick vacuum. She loved her first one so much that when her husband so kindly thought he’d upgrade her Shark Stick vac after a number of years to a Bissell, she used the new vac once and immediately took it back to the store for the newest Shark! That said a LOT! When a person returns a known brand for (to me) one less known and then raves over powerful suction, no use of bags, and the super way it got up ALL the dog hair from her dog which shed (especially heavy in the spring). She also considered the value for the money and considered it MORE than worth it! (Not sure I should consign this as I would hate for the price to increase because to be quite honest, after my first use, I could never go back to using the iRobot (or any other brand) because hands down, the Shark puts them all to shame!) I thought because the iRobot would eventually run a course, (without some hiccup) that my carpets were clean, but I found myself having to clean them every few months with a carpet cleaner, but after one use with the Shark, my carpets looked loads cleaner than when after I’d use the carpet cleaner! And the amount of dirt that was removed from them (in a 700 square foot condo) was AMAZING! I can’t believe I was breathing in what’s in the photo and video that I have posted! The Shark stick vacuum is lightweight but VERY WELL MADE and seems VERY DURABLE! The suction is POWERFUL like NOTHING I’ve ever seen before and I’ve seen a lot of vacuums over the years! The canister for dirt storage holds a good amount of dirt and the filter makes for super easy hair removal! Emptying into the trash without my hands getting dirty was a breeze! I don’t think I’d ever recommend anything else when it comes to a vacuum that delivers on all It advertises to do! I’m hugely happy and I’m not one to become elated over “appliances” but this makes me look forward to vacuuming! So if you’re reading this, go ahead and get it! I swear you won’t regret it! I’d give this 10 stars if I could! ... show more

  • This is the Goldilocks vacuum!
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
I've owned 4 different Shark vacuums and this is the best by far. My first Shark was a liftaway. It was great at picking up dirt but too bulky to get into some places. I gave it to my son when he bought his first house. They no longer make the second one. It was similar a corded stick vacuum but too powerful. It was pulling up the carpet and would suck up cords from a distance. When it died, I got a rocket. Don't bother with one of those. The rocket didn't have enough suction and only picked up dirt when it was going forward. Plus, it can't stand up on it's own. It's now my basement vacuum. The Powerdetect eliminates all those problems. It has great suction but not so much that it pulls up the carpet. I can vacuum most of my rugs without it chewing them up. I just shake out the lighter ones. The detect function works great and this vacuum picks up dirt both backwards and forward. It's lightweight and makes cleaning easy. The only negatives I've found aren't deal breakers for me. The suction cup is small but it's very easy to empty. I find that I'm vacuuming more often so I only need to empty it once in the middle and then at the end of cleaning. The cord is stiff but I just loosly roll it up and put it on top like the man in the video demonstrated. This makes it easier to unroll when I'm ready to use it and I don't have all the twisting that I dealt with when using other cords. I'm not a fan of the scent feature. My husband and I both have issues with perfumes. I found that the vacuum will run just fine without it. I have it in now but turned off. There is a slight scent this way but not enough to cause problems. ... show more

  • Way better than cordless version
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
We originally bought the cordless shark stratos on sale at Costco, but returned it because it was extremely gutless. We decided to opt for a recorded version instead, and bought this one. This one is significantly more powerful. It’s very lightweight and easy to maneuver. Additionally, I like that I can remove the stick portion and attach the base to the suction section to do the stairs without having a long stick interfering with motion. It comes with several attachments to be able to clean, upholstery and other crevice area areas. The only thing that I find odd about this one is that you have to remove the waste cartridge in order to open it. So it doesn’t have a one touch button to immediately dump into the trash. You have to actually remove the canister. This isn’t a big issue for me. The suction power, and the extremely long cord make this one worth the cost. This was a high-end upgrade compared to our old model Bissell. We have a long-haired cat and this works really well for picking up pet fur. I also have Carpet of different pile heights. And it works on all different types. I really appreciate the feature where it automatically detects whether it’s on carpet or on hardwood. I’ve seen no issues with any scratching of the hardwood. And after owning it for several days, I am convinced that I should’ve bought this one the first time around. ... show more

  • SOLD on First Use! Amazing!
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
1/16/2025 Update: Yes, my title says "SOLD",...but now with one caveat. Aftre months of use, my opinion of this vacuum is still very high and all I wrote is accurate. The ONE caviat is that the cord is STIFF! I read all the reviews and a number of them indicted the cord was stiff, but I thought how stiff can it be with a bit of doubt. Well now months later, it's stiff to the point of being a pain in the backside! I think Shark could have done better making this a perfect stick vacuum IMHO. One might say shoulda bought a rechargable. Perhaps, but when you want it to run for a few hours and not worry about recharging, this was the right choice. Anyway, buyer beware. It's good, but the cord is STIFF! We've had a Hoover up-right for years. About two years ago, I purchcased a Shark Rocket vacuum. It was great for quicky vacuum jobs and even on carpet. This POWERDETECT is simply amazing! I was anxious to use it right out of the box which I did. All I can say, it is worth every penny AND SOME. What's to Love: 1) It simply works!; 2) It's lightweight. Some reviews indicated that it's heavy. I disagree completely. It's actually lighter than my Rocket.; 3) Some reviews indicate the oderizer is overpowering. My spouse is very sensitive to odors of any kind, and this is not over powering whatsoever. I'll admit some may have an ultra sensitive sense of smell, but this isn't at all bad.; 4) My Rocket pushes stuff around when you vacuum over it backwards. This POWERDETECT does not. This vacuum picks up small dirt items going fowards and backwards. Minor Detractors: 1) One "minor" detractor I might have about this vacuum is that it works so well, that the dirt and debris holder fills rather quickly. If you have pets and only vacuum about once a week, it will grab up dirt and hair at a rate such that you'll have to empty the container somewhat often. We have two dogs that shed fairly heavily so I can pick up enough hair in a 12'x12' (depending upon the room the dogs tend to say in) area that you may end up emptying the debris trap somewhat often. For me, this isn't a problem. The trap is very easily removable and empties in a minute.; 2) Some reviews mention the power cord is stiff. This is true. However, I assume that it's likely that way in order to last a long time and to tolerate a bit of abuse. NOTE: I chose a corded only because that's what I'm used to so it isn't a big deal to me. I read some reviews about the rechargable cordless vacuums that complained about usage time due to battery drain. Personally, I didn't want to deal with that. Summary: All I can say is that I love this vacuum. I've never owned a Dyson, but have heard great things. However, for the money, I can't imagine the "D" vacuum being all that much better. If you're researching stick vacuums, this is one to consider. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • The best vacuum cleaner !!
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
Don't hesitate, buy it! This is the BEST vacuum cleaner I have ever bought! I did alot of research and comparisons before purchasing this vacuum. I'm soo glad that this is the vacuum I chose! It's outstanding! I purchased the Shark Navigator earlier this year to use as my regular weekly vacuum cleaner. I own a holland lop bunny that lives in the finished lower level. I have always used a separate vacuum for the pet hair on lower level. My last duo flex Shark gave out on me after 12 years and I decided to buy the Shark POWERDETECT in its place. Omg!! This is the best vacuum I have ever used!! I made the right choice!! 1. The suction power on this baby is like no other vacuum I've used!! I couldn't believe how much suction power it has! The suction powe is the strongest that I have encountered, it maneuvers so easily on both carpet and hardwood flooring. 2. It handles great moving from an area rug to the hardwood floor. With other vacuums I struggled physically with pushing and pulling when on higher plush area rugs. And on lower area rugs the other vacuums would always suck up the edges of the rug jamming the vacuum, not this one! 3. It's lightweight. Great for those of us that are older or anyone that needs lightweight! 4. It has a super long cord that makes it easy to cover alot more space before having to keep replugging it. 5. I love that it has lights. I vacuum in the dark and it allows you to see all the dust and debris so much better with the lighting from the vacuum. 6. Not all stick vacuums stand on their own, this one does!! 7. Detachable so that you can vacuum and tight, hard to reach spaces as well as low and high spaces with the tools it comes with. 8. The tools that come with it are perfect. I had purchased a long attachment tool for my Shark and that tool fits on the Shark PowerDetect also!! I especially love the tool for the stairs. Its light weight makes it so easy to vacuum stairs and has the best, strongest suction power than any other vacuum I've used. 8. Self cleaning brush! 9. It's a very flexible vacuum, meaning the top part of the vacuum has various levels to pull down the from the floor brush part of the vacuum. It can release all the way down to the floor, allowing you to get under most furniture, beds, etc. Like I said I have been using the Shark Navigator for the majority of my house. Not anymore!! The Shark PowerDetect beats the Shark Navigator Lift away with self cleaning brush!! I couldn't believe it! I immediately used the Shark PowerDetect on the main level of my house. I had just vacuumed the main level with the Shark Navigator a day prior. I decided to do a suction comparison and went over the main level with the Shark PowerDetect. Boy, was I amazed at how it picked up what the Shark Navigator left behind!! Again, I couldn't believe it!! This vacuum wins for me! Yes, being a stick vacuum it has a much smaller collect debris container and you have to empty more frequently. For me, the pros much outweigh that aspect. I don't normally leave reviews, especially so detailed. But the product was so impressive, that I felt compelled to share with others in the market for purchasing a new vacuum!! ... show more

  • Powerful suction and lightweight for those of us with a bad back or senior age
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
After learning the hard way that refurbished vacuums are a gamble—my last refurbished Shark stick lasted almost two years before losing all suction. I decided it was time to invest in a brand-new machine. I still have a 5-year-old Shark Navigator upright but it is just too heavy, making my 62 yo back ache. It is a total workhorse, so it is now relegated to garage/deck duty. The Shark POWERDETECT Ultra-Light Corded Stick Vacuum (HZ4002) is the perfect replacement for my daily indoor cleaning! Major Pros: Self-Standing so you don't have to lean it against something as you go. Powerful Suction gives me the confidence it is doing a good job. Floor Detect which is great for automatically detecting my hardwood floors and my many area rugs. Lightweight to take pressure off my back. Direction detect that picks up debris forward and backward. I have never thought about that before but now is a must have. Self cleaning brush is a must for those of us with long hair. I won't go back! HEPA filters are crucial, especially if you have allergies. Top-Mounted Cord: The cord is located at the top of the handle, which is brilliant, as it keeps the cord out of the way, so I never have to bend over to pick it up to avoid tripping or running it over. While I’ve seen some reviewers not like the stiff cord, I don't have a problem with it. The Scent Disc: I am incredibly sensitive to strong fragrances (I absolutely hate Febreeze), and I was very hesitant about this neutralizing technology. However, you can adjust the scent intensity dial, and on the lowest setting, I hardly notice it. Upholstery/Pet Tool: The handheld attachment has a spinning roller, making it a mini-vacuum for furniture. It is absolutely awesome! Conclusion: I have no complaints about the Shark POWERDETECT. It is efficient, versatile, and has made cleaning, even with a bad back, much easier. Highly recommended ... show more

  • Has lots of power and stand on its own
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
This is the 3rd Shark stick vacuum that I have bought because I really like them. I ordered the Shark POWERDETECT Ultra-light Corded stick vacuum with DuoClean. The first one they sent was the wrong model but they quickly shipped out the right model and said to keep the one that they sent that was wrong, so good on Amazon. I just got the correct vacuum today, I like it. I had a Apex duo clean and wanted something more powerful. It definitely has more power, I am very happy with its cleaning power. I like the attachment for clipping the tools on the stick of the vacuum but so far they fall off quite easily if you bump something, maybe I will figure out how to avoid that. It has a nice long cord which some don't, it is stiff but workable. I would rather stiff than shorter that comes on different models. It switches between hardwood and rug very well. It picked all the dog hair out of my carpets. I like that it stands up on its own without having to take the handheld part off, that is a great upgrade from the Apex. Now what I do NOT understand is why Shark would eliminate the light on the handheld part, that is a real big negative for me. I am going to keep this vacuum for the things that it does better than the Apex but why Shark would do that just for a little bit of weight is what I am assuming is ridiculous. Also the pet power brush is a joke, as soon as it touches the couch it stops spinning unless held in a direct perpendicular angle to the furniture, the upholstery tool works great. But since I spent a little more to add the pet power brush it's disappointing, save a few dollars and don't get the pet power brush. Overall this is a really nice vacuum and I am happy with it. I think I will buy a little LED flashlight and attach it somehow to the handheld portion so that you can see what you are doing when you vacuum cornerts etc. There are so many different Shark stick models now make sure you choose the one that has the features you want!! What they sent first, that I got to keep anyway, was a Shark Detect Ultra Light Pet Pro. Just so that you that are researching can get two reviews on one review. This one is not a duo clean. It has a lot more power than my Apex did, but it has a shorter cord and also does not have a light on the handheld part, nor does it stand up. Not sure how much cheaper it is than the powerdetect duoclean but I would have been disappointed in it if after my Apex because of no light, shorter cord and not duoclean which really helps clean wood floors. This model does not have enough features for me to have been happy with it. ... show more

  • This Shark is a wonder, with a few issues
Style: PowerDetect w/ Pet Power Brush
I upgraded to this from the old Shark NV22, which was heavier, less agile, but had (replaceable!) attachments that could do anything. Mine was 15 years old and still ran like a champ. But I wanted something that would work on deep pile carpet, low carpet, and also tile/linoleum. Weight was also a factor - after arthritis and a knee surgery I really needed a lighter machine. This puppy delivered everything I was looking for, and more. It is lighter, very agile, with a low profile to fit places I hadn't gone before (!). It moves gracefully from carpet to tile, and does an excellent job on both. It is easy to maneuver. The dust cup does fill quickly, even if you think the carpet is clean, but is very very easy to empty. There are no filters to clean, no maintenance really. The noise level is average, but it's a low growl rather than a high sound, so I find it just fine. I have two pugs, fur monsters, and this machine handles all that fur terrifically. So why only 4 stars? No vacuum is perfect, and here are the cons you should just be aware of. They are matters of convenience and preference, no deal-breakers. 1) Attachments are pretty worthless. The pet attachment, meh. I saved the dust attachment from my old NV22 and it works fine. But with no flexible hose - attachments fit on the end of the lift-off handheld part, so it's a still straight line -- any attachments are awkward at best. I have ended up not using any of them. 2) The handgrip is large, and the handle is high. This puts a lot of stress on my thumb, which is where my arthritis centers. If you're young, and bonus points if you're tall, this is not a problem for you. 3) The cord. Oh lord, the cord. Stiff is an understatement. It is a wild, hard mess that will not coil or wrap. So I can't coil and hold it as I vacuum. It is everywhere. It is hard, therefore, to avoid. And you do want to avoid it. If you lose track of where it is and happen to vacuum over it (sigh) then you have a very very damaged cord and either you replace the entire cord, or if you are very lucky (very) you have merely torn off the outer skin and can bundle up, carefully, electrical tape. Not that I'm admitting this happened to me.....I'm just sayin'. The cord is very near a deal-breaker for me, but I have made peace and learned to live with it. And be very careful with it. So I am pretty happy, overall, with this vacuum. I do have a Riccar Supralite that I alternate with -- it is very lightweight, HEPA, and bagged, but it has no attachments and does not do edges well and does not do tile floors, and does not have low clearance to fit under furniture. So I alternate. Riccar for main traffic areas once a week. Shark for everything (and I do mean everything) once a week. Shark for smaller but immediate jobs (e.g., I can't believe you tracked that into the house!). The Shark is a wonder, with definite strengths, and even my pugs approve. ... show more
