I read all the reviews, decided to get it regardless of some negatives. First off we call it "Monkey" because when we first started using it the machine would try to climb up on things like the bottom of bookshelves, use the magnet strips and that problem was solved! It is not at all noisy, can I hear it going about the house? Yes, I can! But if it gets to the master bedroom and bath I can not hear it. Is the noise level bothersome? NO! The sound it makes is quite easy to tolerate and I sort of enjoy hearing it go about doing my dirty work, LOL. I did not purchase the self dumping model, I figured the least I could do is dump the bin once a week, and I am glad I got this model because when I dump the bin I remove the paper filter and rinse the bin in the sink, then I set it aside to dry, when dry place the filter back in and it is ready to run. When I dump the bin I also inspect the bottom of the machine to be sure everything is good and nothing is stuck. HAIR? I have lots of really long hair that hangs below my bottom, I have yet to find one strand wrapped around the brush (and it cleans my bathroom where most of that hair lands in the carpet). Pets? I have 'em! I have a Cavalier and a Frenchie, both are horrific shedders and leave hair all over the carpets, the Cavalier has long silky hair that you can see EVERYWHERE! The Monkey gets it all cleaned up nice and tidy. I love this part, my carpets look so much better! The Shark does a good job of eventually mapping your home, give it time and it gets better adapted each run, when we first got ours we had Christmas up and everywhere and the Shark learned to navigate around all of it, then when Christmas was taken down I did not reset the map, I just let it go (as an experiment) and it discovered all the changes on it's own! It is not designed to give your floors a "deep clean" obviously that will still require elbow grease and an old fashioned vac, but this machine has vastly improved my life, the bin is full every time I empty it and the floors look great! Make sure all your doors are fully opened and pick up everything off the floor before running it, it can get trapped behind half opened doors. If it does get stuck it just tells you it is stuck and it shuts off until you come and fetch it, when this happens I just return it to the dock and let it recharge, then send it back out but this has only happened a few times. The phone app works good, for fun I sent the Monkey out to clean the floor while I was 200 miles away from home but hubby was home, he was surprised!

I am writing a review only a week after setting up my Shark IQ RV1001. Iāll return periodically to update if anything changes. THE APP: I didnāt have any trouble connecting with Wi-Fi and setting it up was intuitive, even for a senior citizen. It took a few days for the APP to catch up with the vacuum's travels and now the floorplan is nearly complete. Weāre in a one-story ranch. I've run it twice now (Monday and Friday). On Monday afternoon the APP showed 0 feet vacuumed but by Thursday it showed a big part of the house mapped. It started exactly on schedule on Friday. My feeling on this is that any programming or coding issues in the APP have been resolved as of early 2021. BATTERY: I charged the new unit for two days before testing. The battery lasts approximately an hour and it takes around two hours to recharge. It finishes our entire house (<2k SF) in two runs. FINDING ITS WAY: It bumps into things like our old robot did (Neato XV21) but not nearly as hard. It turns on a dime and it has only found one place in our house where it gets caught (so far). Iāll use a āNo Go Stripā there. NOISE: After being accustomed to our Neato, this vacuum runs nearly silently. We can easily have a conversation in the room where itās working even with my husbandās hearing loss. HAIR: I have long (Quarantine) hair and, after the second run, I turned the unit upside down to check the wheels and they were all twisted with long hair. I'm used to this and I have a system and tools (I use my jewelry making tools, specifically, my very fine tweezers and tiny precision scissors.) so cleaning this up took less than 10 minutes and was easy. The wheel assembly comes off with no fuss at all. If you have only short hair in your home, I doubt this will be an issue as the "hair catcher" seems to work perfectly on everything else. SUCTION: I vacuumed the entire house using our Shark Navigator vacuum the day before I tested the Shark Robot. After the robotās first run, I emptied the dust drawer. OMG, the amount of sand (that's our version of "dirt" here in Florida) in the drawer was mind boggling. We no longer have a dog and there's just two of us here AND we're quarantining so I have no idea how that much sand got into the house. AND, remember, I had just vacuumed the day before. The drawer was filled to the brim. I emptied it and vacuumed the filter and interior of the drawer with our Shark cordless handheld vacuum (I'm seeing a trend here). The filter screen was pristine with one swipe of the cordless. I emptied the drawer again after the Friday run and it was, again, filled to the brim! We have hard floors and only one area rug so I'm not sure where all this dust hides but I'm glad for it to be gone. Apparently the Neato was worse than we knew. NO GO STRIP: Our Neato came with a "No Go" strip, which the Neato politely ignored. Not only does the Shark honor the No Go strip it came with but it honors the Neato No Go strip as well! I am thrilled beyond words about this. No more pulling a vacuum out from under our treadmill! FINDING THE BASE UNIT: Some reviews mentioned that the Shark has trouble finding its base unit. I was actually a bit worried about this because the space I have on either side of the base is only 2.5' rather than 3' but it has had no trouble at all returning to the base in its two first days of work. As I said at the top, Iāll come back and update if necessary.

We previously had a basic Shark robot vacuum. It worked, but you had to babysit it, which really defeated the purpose. It would often get stuck under a couch or a bed. Enter this new Shark robot vacuum. This model seemed to offer the best features for the best price. Pros: Much smarter, between the mapping feature, sensors and non-random pattern it hasn't gotten stuck at all, and does a much more thorough job. Much better cleaning that the old product. This actually leaves lines in the carpet, which is kind of satisfying as they are perfectly back and forth. Cons: Way louder. Not a huge deal as it does clean better, but something to be aware of. App/wifi is a bit wonky. I had a bit of trouble getting it all connected at first. There doesn't seem to be a way to reconnect if you change your wifi name and such. Then you just have to go through the process again like it was a new vacuum. Brush still gets a lot of tangled hair. It's a bit easier to clean out than the old model, but it still happens. Sometimes misses a room or area of the house. I am sure this gets better as it maps the house more completely. Overall we don't have any regrets in upgrading and have had a much better experience with this new fancier version that the older one.

I waited a few months to write this review because I wanted to give the vacuum time to build its map and to show me what it was made of. Hereās my analysis. First off Iād like to start by saying my bot has firmware from January 10, 2020. Past firmwares were full of bugs and issues. Ever since the latest firmware, the robot does exactly what itās supposed to and even finished off my apartment by doing a full edge clean. New trick! (You check the firmware version in the Shark app. Be careful not to confuse this with the app version.) Second, this thing is noisy. I donāt mind it too much but you definitely wonāt want to be watching a movie or doing anything that would require low noise. However, this noise is due to the brush and bin design. The bin has a static plastic filter that the brushes pass through each time they spin. This causes a lot of noise the machine generates but I excuse it because it keeps the brush head clean. I havenāt had to clean the brush once since Iāve owned it. In contrast, other robots Iāve owned have had to have their brushes cleaned every run or every few runs. Lastly, this thing will develop a map of your home on its own over time. You can create zones and tell it what room or zone to clean. My tips about this feature: 1) Have all lights in the house on as this way it can reliably use them as points of interest. 2) Move chairs out of the way to assist the bot. This may seem cumbersome but it makes it run faster. 3) If you have furniture that can move, try to have it in the same location every time you run the machine so it doesnāt confuse the map creation. (I have a coffee table on wheels that I push to a corner.) Overall Iām very happy with this robot (now) and it does that I need it to: keep my place clean without me needing to vacuum myself. Disclaimer: I donāt own pets so I canāt speak to the brush self maintenance if you have pets that shed a lot.

for a mapping robot this is a surprise: it does a worse job avoiding obstacles than a dumb robot and the motors are so powerful that it bangs into things hard. It sometimes gets lost in a room and it has no map yet. About the mapping: in-app help says it takes 10 runs to calculate, 20 cleans later and still nothing. As opposed to 1 run with a laser based robot. Lasers have other health related problems but for mapping I haven't seen better. The robot gets stuck in rooms some times, on the same floor. When you put the robot on another floor it gets confused and wants it mommy. A dumb robot has no problem. Also it requires the app to be online and registered account. They are obviously trying to gather data on us and make us buy their stuff but this doesn't serve me so for this reason alone this is a return. The cleaning now, it's very good. It catches things the others didn't, never gets jammed by dog hair. So in conclusion: fantastic hardware, terrible software.

I have had a Roomba for years, still do, put it down in the basement as I placed this one on the main level. Here are the key reasons this robot vacuum is superior and at the price point offered. 1. Suction power is much greater we get a lot more stuff off the ground. 2. I found this unit to be quite more so than the Roomba. I saw reviews that says it is loud, I don't get that it is a vacuum so there is going to be noise this is NOT what I would call loud at all. Been on conference calls with it vacuuming outside my office no issues. 3. This one does not mindlessly roam around the house vacuuming. It really does have a method and path, row by row in straight lines. It is impressive to watch. 4. It does not slam into things like the other, it actually avoids them or gently touches and adjusts the path. Covers the whole level on one charge. 5. The App is good and relatively easy to use. easy set up including connecting it to WiFo and mobile devices. I would highly recommend this as the robot vacuum of choice.

Sharkie is for you! I have been battling the daily hair in my home for years. I finally had it with the hair and had to either call in a service or breakdown and buy a robot vacuum. It went on my Christmas list as number 1. I can't say enough about this vacuum. It does exactly what I needed. Keep my floors and baseboards free of hair and little bits of outside the pups may bring in. Goes from my hardwood to my carpets with no trouble at all. The app is a little dopey and I can live with that. I am so happy to be free from all that hair. I will say, I use it almost every day. The more I used it, the less hair it was picking up. That tells me that it is keeping up. I do empty after each run and only had 2 error messages in the beginning when big cat hair globs got stuck in the unit. Clean it out and it was on its way again. I also never have had an issue with the unit docking itself. Never needed tech support yet, can't comment on that. So, this model can transition beautifully room to room. Is affordable. Made my life much easier with less stress. I'd recommend the product.

I typically do not write reviews. I however love this! I have ran it several times the first few days for it to map out the house and not only does it get quicker each time it really is learning the lay out. It talks to you as well so if something is wrong it isn't a guessing game (battery low take it to the dock, empty container etc) I vacuumed right before I let it go the first time and I can't belive how much stuff it found. We have 3 dogs and my husband has severe allergies and we can not believe how much it has helped and I vacuumed daily. I love it, best thing I have bought in a very long time. It also was extremely easy to set up.
