It's fabulous right out of the box for many reasons, although leaving a review after only using an appliance once isn't normally something that I tend to do. But this Shark stick vaccuum has so many great attributes, and being that my other Shark is eight yrs old and I've not once had problems w/it - except that it is heavy and can't be lifted and used for stairs - I know that this brand has demonstrated its trustworthiness. The Shark ProDLX was probably the simplest thing I've ever put together, with only a few pieces to click in place, and not only is a great product manual included here, but it's also written right on the unit what goes where, press this, click that - no weird hieroglyphics that must be deciphered - (as w/ anything from Miele). It is incredibly easy to separate the handheld piece from the wand and the wand from the brush. The vaccuum's motorized brush and swivel steering sucked up HALF a cup of dust and dirt on my rather dense and lowpile carpet that the Miele TurboTeam (pure suction only) failed to get when I vaccuumed with that only about one week ago. The Rocket also managed to clean my few throw rugs well without sucking up the entire thing into the brush head. And I don't have pets, children, or anything else to yield all of that mess this Rocket extracted. It also has bright headlights that are key to seeing the spots you might've missed on floors. I was worried it might scratch my laminate floors, and would've preferred a softer separate floor brush on those, but luckily it seemed to perform fine on these also. Although it very easy to carry around the house even with my spine issues and arthritis flareups, I can see why some think that this is a little bit heavy. When you are holding it to vacccum you are grabbing the handle to the removable hand vaccuum, which does feel like it can strain the hands a bit and has a heavy feeling. A comfort handle attachment would've worked very well here. I bought this as a basic compromise since what I really wished for didn't actually exist - a stick with a bagged dustbin and all of the features that I most wanted - great suction, a motorized brush roll, easy steering on carpets, very lightweight, and easy maintenance. All you have to do here is clean the tiny filters periodically (once a month for the 2 small filters (pre motor) and 1x a yr for the tinier postmotor filter. And they will not need a replacement for a very long time. Before buying this I tested the Miele turbo team which, not having a rolling motorized head, was like pushing a kid's toy vac on low pile carpeting. And before that I tried Eureka Mighy Mite, which had the desired bagged canister but was so cheaply constructed, a pain to use and to store, and the two wands kept falling off in use. And before that, I tried an Oreck bagged handheld- which was ugly and heavy and useless for larger areas. As an added perk, this Shark stores nicely with a nifty hook that allows for easily mounting the handheld piece on it when not in use. So it takes very little room up to store. And that purple shade is a great added touch. Much gentler on the eyes than many other standard vacs available. Right now, I'm truly pleased, and it's remarkable since hardly any appliance ever meets my lofty expectations.

It doesn't cure cancer, it doesn't fix your marriage (however, using it often may help!) - it's a vacuum, and it sucks! And by that I mean it does exactly what it is supposed to do. I will say, out of all of the vacuums I have ever used, this is probably the easiest to use and certainly least annoying one. It's not super heavy, it's not outrageously loud (it's a vacuum, if it isn't making any noise, you probably have a bigger problem), it's very maneuverable so you can effortlessly putter around your partner who is trying to cook in your very tiny kitchen at the same time as you are testing your new vacuum. The light is bright enough to illuminate all of the crumbs in your kitchen that you didn't know you had, and all of the tiny spiders hiding out in the dark corners (huge plus especially when you're optically challenged like me), and bonus points! If you have a sudden pavement ant invasion in your house, it'll suck all those little suckers right up in no time at all, so you can go deposit them back outside where they belong! Please don't ask me how I know, it was traumatic enough the first time. All joking aside, I would say the only thing I would change about this vacuum is make it so you can wind the cord up on the body of the vacuum itself then just set it on the wand hook for storage, as opposed to having to plug the vacuum into the wand, wind the cord, then unplug and slide the body of the vacuum down onto it's storage hook. That's it! Rinse and dry your filters well after every few uses and you won't lose suction. I have a small space and this vacuum doesn't require a huge amount of spoons to drag it out and use it when I have very little energy to spare, so it was a great choice for my needs!

The Shark Rocket Pro DLX is a strong performer when it comes to everyday cleaning. It has impressive suction for a stick vacuum and does an excellent job picking up dust, pet hair, and debris from both hard floors and carpets. The removable hand vacuum is especially useful for stairs, furniture, and quick spot cleanups around the house. I also appreciate the swivel steering, which makes it easy to maneuver around furniture and into tight spaces. The included attachments, particularly the crevice tool and upholstery tool, add a lot of versatility. The XL dust cup is another plus since it doesn't need to be emptied as frequently as smaller stick vacuums. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the cord. While the cord provides consistent power without worrying about battery life, it can be cumbersome when moving from room to room. Having to manage the cord and switch outlets occasionally takes away some of the convenience that many people expect from a stick vacuum. Overall, this is a powerful and reliable vacuum that delivers excellent cleaning results. If you don't mind working with a cord, it's a great value and a solid choice for keeping your home clean.

It’s fine. Not great, not terrible, but if I could go back in time, I wouldn’t buy it again. I have two dogs with long hair that shed like it’s their full-time job, and this vacuum just isn’t up to it. The hair wraps around the filter in the dust cup, so it needs to be emptied constantly, and I still end up unwrapping hair from the roller (though not as much as I did with other vacuums admittedly). There are some things I do like. The suction is strong—it’ll pull in dust and hair from around it, not just what you roll over. It’s light and easy to move, and the cord is nice and long. But coming from a cordless, I now feel like I’m on a leash. The light on the front is nicely illuminating, but the swivel steering is not my friend. It takes more effort than it should to get it to turn where I want it to go. A couple other gripes: it’s too strong for small bath or door mats, which end up stuck to the head instead of getting cleaned. And the catch that locks it in the upright position is way too easy to trigger, so I keep having to use my foot to pop it back down mid-vacuum. Easy enough to do, but definitely annoying. Overall, it does a decent job on my hardwood and tile, but with all the quirks and frustrations, it’s just not the right fit for a house with heavy shedders. Three stars.

I have pets in the house. I have COPD and ASTHMA and pet dander is a trigger for my asthma. We vacumn once a week with a hepa 3 layer bag cannister vacumn and bought this vacumn for daily use. WOW !!! This vacumn is lightweight and easy to use. The canister is easy to dump between rooms ! Totally satisfied with the results !!!! Love the electric cord version and I dont have to worry about a drained battery.

After doing tons of research I was satisfied with my decision in ordering this vacuum... After receiving it, I realized that I should have read more reviews and taken other people's issues into consideration. Cons about this vacuum: The top portion of quite heavy. I have carpal tunnel issues and holding this vac really messes with my hands. It's considerably heavier than other stick vacs that I've used. Because of this, when not in use, the vacuum has to be set a very certain way in order to stay standing. In other words, my littles have knocked it over time and time again. The canister that collects the debris is cheaply made... It's messy upon opening to dump. There is a circular piece inside that the hair gets wrapped around, so it doesn't easily pour out. I have to actually touch the bundle of hair/dirt in order to empty the canister. There is no place on vac to hold the extra attachments, so they get misplaced often. Pros: the suction is good. The side suction is also good... It picks up debris along the bottom trim of my walls (side note: I have only concrete floors throughout my house, not sure how good side suction is on carpet). The foot button to move the bottom part of vac is very convenient (I only wish there was some type of rubber around the end of the stick portion because it scratches my walls easily once bottom portion is removed). All in all, it's an OK vac. There could be improvements made, but for the price, I'm pretty satisfied. The extra long cord is also a +. I only have to unplug and replug once while cleaning the bottom portion of my house, which is 1200 sq ft.
