I own several other Shark products and they have performed/held up very well. I ordered the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Fan thinking it would be a great addition to our RV while dry camping on a hot summer day. This fan can be run off of 110v AC or cordless 12v when the internal battery is charged (up to 12 hours of battery life on a fan speed of 1.) Shark does sell the Shark FlexBreeze Fan On-the-go 12V Car Charger for an additional $14.99. This will be perfect for my off grid application for recharging off my RV batteries if needed. If fully discharged, it will take about three hours to fully charge. Although large looking, the fan only weights about 5 pounds. The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGO has 5 fan power levels with the highest being Breezeboost. To save battery life, Breezeboost mode will only run for 20 minutes then ramp down to power level 4. The misting function has two settings, consistent and interval. Consistent will give you 30 minutes of mist per tank and interval 60 minutes. To fill the tank, open the cap with the water picture, then gently pour water in until full then close the cap. There is also a smaller cap in front of the fan that will need to be opened for the misting discharge port. The instructions state to use filtered or tap water only. “DO NOT use distilled, warm, or hot water.” The instructions also state “DO NOT attempt to operate the misting feature with an empty water tank. The metal misting plate may reach high temperatures if operated without water.” There is no mention in the instructions of an automatic shut off for the mister if the tank runs dry. Not a huge deal breaker for me but, I guess one has to pay attention or set a timer for when the mister runs dry (reason for 4 stars.) The add states that this fan can be felt up to 70 feet. First, I cannot see a situation where I would need a fan 70 feet away especially outdoors. Second, I can still feel the fan from about 30 feet away indoors but the breeze is not that strong (other reason for 4 stars.) That said it still has a strong cooling breeze at a distance of 10 feet which is more distance than I need. The base of the fan detaches to where one can add other attachments like a taller stand. Although this fan can be used outdoors, it is not IP6 rated. Make sure it is not exposed to rain or a lot of dust. As for the price of $129.99, I feel this is on par to other higher brand fans on the market but would like to see an automatic shut off for when the mister runs dry. As I mentioned above, I own several Shark items and will continue to pay more for a product that lasts. Overall, I still like this fan and recommend this product to others! ... show more

I have a few fans I use both at home and at my cabin, as well as camping. Most are corded. But I also have a couple which are battery powered. But those are smaller, clip-on fans. They do a good job, though, and on the lower speed settings will last through a night easily, if not two nights. This Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Fan is no exception. But it is a magnitude better in virtually every regard. First of all, it is very compact for such a powerful little fan. It is truly grab and go. The exterior is very solid, including the grills. Many fans are quite fragile, where their grills will become detached by the slightest bump, or come off, even broken during normal handling and transport. That is absolutely not true with this Shark fan. It can be used battery powered or corded. When connected to power it used a 12 VDC power cube. At first, I thought it would be better for it to have a more universal USB-C charger. That way, you would be likely to always have one with you these days, But the 12V power source means you can use it with a cigarette lighter plug and run it directly off your car or camper battery. It doesn't come with such a cable. But those are very easy to find. It has a normal center positive barrel connector. The battery takes about three hours to charge from dead. I found the run times to be just about as rated, with 12 hours on the lowest speed. That is silent and still moves a respectable amount of air if close by. It does have a mist cooling setting. It uses a home humidifier style ultrasonic vaporizer head to produce the mist. So, it's quite thrifty for a moderate output. The little tank doesn't hold more than a few cups of water. So, fill it slowly or it will overflow. It has a secure fold over robber stopper cover over the tank fill opening as well as the mister. If the one over the mister is not closed, and it has water in the tank it may drip water very slightly if not running. It has three settings for the misting function. Off, Pulsed and Continuous. The pulsed turns the mister off and on intermittently to conserve water. The effectiveness of the water mist cooling is based on the local relative humidity. The water needs to evaporate to absorb heat in the air. In a very humid environment his won't work very well. But if the air is dry the air flow is downright icy. That's why "Swamp Coolers" are very popular in California, where it is very dry in the summer and virtually unheard of in the US Southeast. There are three buttons. The center one is power on and off. The righthand one is to control the mister setting. The left one sets one of five speeds, and a super mode. The latter will drop back to the normal high level after 20 minutes. There are led lights for each of the fan speeds, all blinking on the super mode. There is also a mister light which is continuous in continuous mode and flashing in intermittent mode. There is also a very useful battery power indicator which changes color based on the battery level. The whole display blanks after a short time if no control actions are taken and a control must be touched to reactivate it. The fan also has a tilt setting to angle it upwards, as may be desired. This little Shark fan is a quality product. It is more costly than the ubiquitous cheaper variants available online. But it is well worth it. You are getting what you paid for here.
