If you’re on the fence like we were just buy it. We had one of the original Roombas which was okay. Manually start it every time and never cleaned in a good pattern left a lot to be desired. But once again it was one of the original robot vacuums. We have a yellow lab and two white cats and anyone with pets knows about the tumble weeds that occur on a daily basis. We bought the shark and are very pleased with it. We have performed floors mainly everywhere upstairs besides our bedrooms which those have a higher shag carpet. The shark works exactly as expected. The schedule set up is nice it runs everyday while we’re at work and the self emptying feature is also very nice. No more tumbleweeds of pet hair everywhere. We highly recommend to anyone on the fence. As with kids as well try to make sure you clean up the best you can toy wise. ... show more

I'm very impressed with the cleaning power. It picks up so much debris from our carpets. Great picking up dog hair. Quiet, easy to use. Take time to learn the app. It will help you know the best way to adjust to your needs. The self-emptying bin is great. Wonderful that it is bagless so I don't have to keep buying bags. The mop works well. I had no problem connecting to wi-fi. Did a great job mapping our house. Flexible cleaning options from whole house, to rooms, to spots. I'll buy another one for the basement.     • Great robot if you figure out connection troubles

First off: I really love this vacuum. Now. Initially, it gave me a lot of headaches as I could not master the connection to the app. After reading lots of other users hacks and watching hundreds of YouTube clips, I tried one trick that worked: I used my iPad instead of my iPhone and VOILA! Worked like a charm . I just got a second shark and had almost forgotten this trick when it didn’t connect … but once I grabbed my iPad- Problem solved! I thought I’d be better off with an iRobot i5 as a second robot for upstairs - which was a nightmare and I just returned it - and got another Shark. What I learned in this experience : the Shark charges quickly and gets cleaning done in minimum time. It works great on pet hair ! My iRobot left hair piles everywhere - an issue I never had with the Shark. It works excellent on hard floors and works also great on my Berber carpet upstairs (the iRobot started to tear it up ). The smart map is pretty accurate and it gets lost wayyyyyy less and has wayyyyyy less errors and aborted jobs than the iRobot. I have it on the highest cleaning level as I own 3 dogs and a cat- and run it daily. It does a great job on corners. Not so great on bigger things like leaves from houseplants - but that makes me keep all the bigger debris picked up and off the floor. I have not tried the mopping feature - will update when I do. It’s a bit noisy when it empties - but just for a short time. LOVE the base and the absence of bags - another thing I hated with the iRobot. Drawback - you can only have one map per robot. You can carry it around and just hit clean and it still will do a good job. But I got tired of that in my 3 level house and hence got another shark . Overall- after comparing with the iRobot experience - I am super happy with this little guy and recommend it! ... show more

Style: Self-Emptying Vacuum + Mop
This is my first time using a robot vacuum. I went with Shark because I looove their other cleaning machines that I have owned. I'm impressed with this vacuum. It was very easy to set up using the app. After setup, the first thing you do is to let it map your home. The trick is to move items that can be moved out of its way so it can get a good map of your rooms. While its mapping a room, I move chairs out of that room to another until it's done mapping then I put them back. It does a decent job of creating a map of your home, and you can let it do it again just in case you're not pleased with its rendering. While mapping, it is not cleaning so bear that in mind. After it delivers the map to your home, you then move on to labeling each room by dragging a square over each area which tells the vacuum the boundaries of that room. This is great for if you later want to send the vacuum to clean a particular room and not the whole house. For places where I have two rooms in one like my kitchen and dining, I separate the two rooms while labeling rooms on the map because sometimes I want only the kitchen vacuumed and not the dining room. I watch where the vacuum goes to begin its vacuuming just to check if the boundary I created in the map is where I want it. I can go in and adjust it in the map by dragging the square for that room to change it. Make sure your squares connect to the square of the adjoining room because in areas where you do not have a square covering in the map, the vacuum will not go there. All that aside, you can opt to do a regular single-pass vacuuming or a more robust matrix vacuuming where the robot goes horizontal and vertical so every area is cleaned twice. Its suction isn't bad. I still see little things on the carpet that it misses. It does a great job with corners for its round shape. You can also take it to a spot you want it to clean instead of the whole room. You can also use the map to block out areas you do not ever want it to clean. I have a large home and it saves me so much time keeping the floors and carpet clean. You can schedule it to vacuum whenever you like. Doing it maybe 4 times a week helps a lot and keeps debris down. Sometimes when it goes to unload the debris it gets stuck and you have to manually clear the chute and empty the canister in the garbage instead. That's not a deal breaker for me. It's not too quiet but I don't mind it as it lets me know it is working. My dogs find it fascinating at first, they were a bit scared, but after a little while, they just ignore it as its doing its thing. I find no real issues with this vacuum, it's electronic and may glitch at times, like going to the wrong room, but I just simply cancel it and start again and it works.
