I've been using this electric scooter for two years and have ridden 3,000 miles on it. It's very strong and reliable. My friend decided not to buy the same scooter and chose a cheaper Chinese alternative with similar specifications to save $100. However, his scooter keeps shutting off when he rides at maximum speed, and the manufacturer doesn't provide proper customer support. My advice is not to save money on quality. It's better to choose well-known brands with a good reputation.

Horrible customer service

This is my very first Amazon review, and the fact that it’s a 1-star rating should already tell you how bad this experience was. My Ninebot E2 Pro developed a serious battery-related issue after only about 8 months of use. The scooter started suddenly losing power and shutting down while I was riding, including at normal riding speeds. I contacted Segway Technical Support in late April and clearly explained that I had stopped riding the scooter because I was concerned about safety. Segway told me that my case would be transferred to a technical expert and that I would receive a follow-up. I never did. Because I was extremely busy at the time and had already stopped using the scooter, it ended up sitting unused for about three months while the issue remained unresolved. I eventually contacted a local repair shop myself because Segway had never followed up. After reviewing the symptoms, the shop told me the problem appeared consistent with a battery cell issue and specifically advised me not to ride or charge the scooter because of the potential safety risk. When I contacted Segway again, the support process was unbelievably frustrating. Despite me explaining the suspected battery problem and the safety concern, I was initially asked to turn on/check the scooter as part of their troubleshooting process. I had to push back and specifically ask whether they could guarantee that charging or powering on a potentially defective lithium-ion battery was safe. Only then did the conversation change and the case get escalated. To make things even worse, I had also contacted the nearest official Segway service shop months earlier and never received a response from them either. Eventually, Segway agreed to send me a box and shipping label so that I can send the entire scooter to their main service center for inspection, which they say will take approximately three weeks. At this point, however, I have already spent months trying to get a basic warranty issue addressed. The scooter itself developing a problem after 8 months is disappointing enough. The much bigger problem has been the complete lack of reliable support when the issue involves a lithium-ion battery and potentially affects rider safety. This has been a genuinely horrible experience. If I had known that getting warranty support would be this difficult, I would have purchased a scooter from a brand with more responsive and dependable customer service.

Great choices, Pro or Plus II

This is a good scooter. I actually bought both the E2 Plus II, and the E2 Pro. The Plus 2 was quite capable, though the Pro is a much more feature rich and powerful, at the expense of being heavier and more expensive. If you are a tall / large person who wants to commute a good distance, Pro no doubt. If you are using it for shorter distances, don't live in hills, or just want something to do errands, then the Plus 2 is a great pick. The Pro has turn signals and accelerates a lot faster. The range is great, and charges faster than the Plus II, despite having a larger battery. However, the Plus II is just 35-ish lbs, and is pretty easily carried to places. The 45-ish lb for the Pro makes it more cumbersome if you are taking it into the car to move around somewhere.

This scooter is a reliable commuting option.

I did a lot of research towards finding a reliable commuter scooter to get me from point a to b, safely, reliably, and on time to the locations I need to be. This scooter was a resale scooter and came packaged in an almost new box. The packaging of the scooter was done well and secured the scooter inside well. The instruction manual was a little confusing at first because of all of the different languages on the same page. It came charged at 74% and didn’t take that long to change it up to 100%. I believe it took an hour and a half or so. I thought it would be very light for some reason but found out that it’s heavy. Like 41 pounds. It wouldn’t be that fun if I had to carry it a long distance. But the alternative to that is pushing it. The app to get it starting is easy to navigate. If you are connect the find my app to your scooter make sure your iPhone operating system is updated. If it’s an outdated version, it will not connect to the find my app. To change the speed modes press the power button twice. To turn on/off the ambient light press the power button three times. I took the vehicle 3.5 miles in sport mode my first ride. It took less than 15mins. The speed was great too. Down hill I got it to a max of 22 MPH. Pass that it will start to beep. Uphill, and in my neighbor the hill are steep, I did very well at 10 MPH. The brakes level is on the left side. It took some getting use to. I love the the signal light and the break lights for safety. All the light feature are cool. The ride is also smooth. I’m pleased with my first ride. After a few months I’ll give another update.

Updated - Segway did the right thing and gave me a Brand new scooter

Updating my rating. Though not perfect, I have to give Segway there props / due. The swapped out my "lemon" with a Brand new scooter. Mind you I had to take the original scooter to a repair shop 2 times... but within 60 days of purchased I got a brand new scooter. The battery gets about 55% of the rated distance on the highest speed setting (8mi vs 5mi) but atleast I can get to/fo work with no problems. On hindsight I probably should've gotten a slightly more expensive Segway model Original Post I purchased this scooter on 7/13, to commute to / from work... which is 1.75mi's (one way ) / 3.5mi round trip. I can't make it home after riding to work. I took the scooter to the recommended repair...within 15days.. repairs took almost 4weeks (they had to order parts that took FOREVER)... I got it back and couldn't make it home. I would absolutely not recommend buying this scooter

Scooter came in the mail quickly, set up was easy and manual easy to follow. Tires had plenty of air in them which was a nice surprise, packing was really good to prevent damage during shipping. Scooter appears to be well made strong and weatherproof. I’m 220lbs and was able to reach max speed and worked great going up my incline drive way. I’ve purchased ninebot products in the past for family and it’s the main reason why I purchased from this manufacturer again. Quality made, warranty, parts if you brake something are available, accessoriesand customer service over the years has been great (never had to call them). LOL. Cheers! Yes there are many other scooters on the market, cool looking with shocks and faster, but they are heavily to pick up and toss in your vehicle. I choose this one because I don’t want family who will be riding it to go over 15mph, I’ve seen to many folks take a nose dive hitting the pavement, plus when you rent them in the city areas they don’t go over 15mph, I think it’s a bike class code or something when riding on sidewalks/ bike paths.
