I know it’s only been a couple of days but I’m really thrilled with the G3. This is a substantial upgrade for me, coming from a Segway P100S. The ride quality, stability, performance, battery life, everything is vastly improved. The additional data on the display is valuable and saves me using a phone holder. It’s by no means a light shooter, it’s solid and well balanced, but I wouldn’t want to have to carry it up a flight of stairs.     • It's worth every penny to upgrade from G2
Style: MAX G3 - 50 Miles
The media could not be loaded. I've owned both Max G1 and G2 before purchasing this, and am super happy with upgrading to G3. The G3 doesn't only have the premium look and build quality, but also has ticked almost all the boxes I've wished for an ideal e-scooter at this price point. What I'm most satisfied with is the top speed, which was even scarily fast initially. But once getting used to it, it's enjoyable when riding on roads with little traffic. The front and rear mechanical disc brakes offer sufficient amount of force to stop this beast with the increased top speed. I was at the beginning skeptical and worried if I might have to upgrade them to hydraulic ones; however, once they've bedded in, I'd to admit they're more than enough. One minor complaint about the brakes is the factory setup is front brake on the right and rear one on the left, which is the opposite of that of bikes. I had to swap them the moment I realized that (attached a video on how it was done). I do hope Segway can change that in US so that customers don't have to deal with the hassle. Other features I enjoy are: the daytime running light for added safety, the upgraded smart display which supports navigation (I've used phone navigation in the freezing winter days and the phone battery just dropped super fast), the mode switch mounted on the handlebar without moving the hand. The range however is noticeably much shorter, especially when riding in Sport mode and frequently hitting the 28MPH top speed. Fortunately Segway will release an external battery soon to solve this issue, which I do feel is a good solution, as I can mount it only when I need more range and keep the scooter lightweight when I don't. There're posts on Reddit that shows the GT3 battery actually can fit into G3, which is has 50% more capacity. However, I'm worried if there'd be fire hazard when charging and decide to pass on it. Overall, G3 is an outstanding scooter at this price point, if the range is not an issue for you. ... show more

Style: MAX G3 - 50 Miles
Top build quality, but rides stiffer than MAX G2 (but sportier!), and mediocre battery life is Sport mode can only be fixed when they release the external battery later this year (lighter riders will have less issue) . Bars also "seem" low for a taller rider, but you can get used to it. If you've never ridden a scooter with taller bars this might not be noticeable for you anyway; wish they would release a bar riser for this scooter. They also need to fix the throttle touchiness with a future firmware upgrade (hard to maintain a steady speed slower than maximum, without feathering it constantly). I do feel this scooter should have been a 30mph scooter, but 28mph is way better than the MAX G2's 22mph AND THE POWER DIFFERENCE IS WAY DIFFERENT (and climbs hills & accelerates way better). But the older MAX G2 may go slightly farther on a charge under the same conditions vs this MAX G3, but the 48v is still better than 36v. Also, the disc brakes need to break in, so they won't work their best immediately out of the box; just go easy until you get a few miles on it. If you catch the new F3 or F3 Pro on sale, and commute mainly on sidewalks/campus, I think it rides better under casual riding than the G3, and you could save some money and be more portable too. The G3 is crossing over into sport scooter category, so I think you need to want the extra power/speed to justify it over the F3. G3 is better on hills/wind and for heavier riders (I got G3 for me and F3 for the wife). It would be hard to be un-happy with such a nice scooter in general though. I "want" to give 5 stars, but as much as I'm impressed with the leap forward of the Segway 3-series scooters and this one in particular, (I own multiple other Segway variants), I have to leave off one star because of the things I've mentioned. This scooter priced under 1k is still a good deal for its tech/performance; especially once you can add the external battery. For anyone upgrading from something much cheaper, OR if this is your first scooter, I think you'll like it enough for 5 stars as long as you get one without any defects (which I did so far thankfully). ... show more

Amazing scooter! Great power. Gets me up any hill in San Francisco. More speed than I need. I own several other Segways and a few others. This is top of the class for power to weight ratio. Highly recommend.

The scooter seems great. However “used like new” should always be read as “do not buy. No warranty, no support, no real help” The scooter I got won’t charge. The battery had 25% on it and was well on its way to dead by the time I had to leave town. Walk plug did nothing. They are sending me to a local repair shop and the cost is all mine. Any money I saved would s now going to get spent on making this a usable item. Just buy from Segway and save yourself the headaches. ... show more
