The reviews highlight the overall excellence and transformative impact of the G2 scooter, particularly for urban commuting. Users experience a significant upgrade in comfort and utility over previous models, emphasizing the G2's superior suspension, durability, and commuter-friendly features. Its ability to handle uneven urban terrain and provide a smooth ride without bodily pain is highly praised, despite some concerns over its weight and suitability for heavier riders.

Pros

  • 🛴 Solid build quality with hydraulic suspension and air-filled tires ensure a smooth ride over uneven terrain.
  • 🚀 Good torque and acceleration, handling hills with ease and offering a comfortable top speed for commuting.
  • 🔋 Impressive battery longevity, supporting long rides and minimizing charging frequency.
  • 👍 User-friendly controls and easy assembly contribute to a positive out-of-box experience.
  • 💡 Bright turn signals and customization options via the app enhance safety and personal preference fulfillment.

Cons

  • ⚖️ Some may find the scooter's weight a challenge, especially when carrying it over multiple flights of stairs.
  • 🚨 The positions and sizes of buttons for turn signals and horn are suboptimal, potentially impacting usability.
  • 💧 Lack of weatherproofing restricts usage in rainy conditions or on wet surfaces.
  • 🛣️ Ride quality on extremely rough surfaces like cobblestones can still be jarring despite the advanced suspension.

Should I Buy It?

Yes, if you're looking for a high-quality, durable scooter for urban commuting, the G2 offers excellent ride comfort, battery life, and construction. It's a significant upgrade over many models, especially in urban environments with rough terrain. However, consider the weight and how you'll store it, and note the potential limitations for heavier riders and during adverse weather conditions.

This scooter is AMAZING! My kids use it and so do my husband and I. We have gone MILES. It's a nice smooth ride, feels quite steady and secure. Battery life is pretty great. It has awesome power, hauls ass to be exact. Super easy to use at any age- well. almost any age. Pricy but high quality!

  • LOVE it
Style: MAX G2-43 miles
Have owned for about a month now. I use this as my primary mode of transportation, and this is the fourth and most expensive scooter I've owned. I didn't realize how much a suspension matters and how much I've avoided longer distances. I had such a fun and breezy 25m ride from West Hollywood to Hollywood yesterday. Pros: - Smoothest ride of all the scooters I've ridden. - Comfortable on bumpy roads and longer commutes. - Sport mode is fun if you're agile on a scooter. Acceleration is quick. - Nice and speedy! Cons: - On the heavy side if you need to carry it ever. I strength-train 4x a week, so it's manageable to get down a little bit of stairs into my building, but I do have to brace my body hard to avoid tweaking my back. - The stem is TALL, so the handlebars sit notably higher than a city rental scooter (like Bird or Lime). It was an adjustment to steer with my arms higher (I'm 5'9"). If you're shorter than I am, I could see this being uncomfortable. Overall turning out to be my favorite scooter that I've owned, and a much less expensive alternative to owning a car in a major city if your commutes are mainly short/medium distances. Love being able to zip through traffic and avoid having to find parking anywhere. ... show more

  • I'm disappointed
Style: MAX G2-43 miles
Update: I took it down to one star because even riding at at 10-12 MPH I'm lucky to get 15 miles before the battery is done. So that's only about 7.5 miles each way. Segway says 25 miles even if you're cranking it at max 22MPH. I think I overpaid by a lot for something that can't even hit 20 miles at slow speeds. The biggest problem I'm having with this scooter is that the power curve is so jerky. Trying to hold it at one speed so that the cruise control will activate is very hard, at least in part because the power seems to either be fully on or fully off. Once the cruise activates it's fine, but it takes a long time to get there. It's also just not a great experience to have the scooter jerking forward when you're holding the accelerator steady. I'm also still not finding the scooter as stable as others I've ridden. The scooter is lifted up off the ground, and the handlebars are wider than most which, for me, contributes to it feeling somewhat unstable during anything other than cruising in a straight line. I may get used to it but right now it feels a little bit like a design problem. I've done some reading, and the jerkiness is a common complaint with Segway Ninebots. Can it be fixed someday with firmware? It seems like it should be possible, but they haven't done so yet. Find My was a little finicky at first but seems stable now and reports its location which is nice should the scooter every be stolen. On the upside it was easy to assemble, just a few screws, and the build quality at least at a surface level looks good. Be aware that the screws can come loose, 5 of the 6 screws loosened up on me to the point that the handlebar was rattling. The included allen wrench is OK but is cheap metal that doesn't let you torque the screws down hard. The suspension definitely is an upgrade from my last scooter that had no suspension (and solid tires). I do like the fact that eco mode can get you 40 miles out of the battery, but you do have to be going 10 MPH on level ground to get that much distance. In sport + (must be activated in the app) the scooter can hit 22 MPH which feels very fast and chews up the battery much faster. Overall I actually like the scooter, but they really need to fix the jerkiness issue when not cruising. It ruins the experience. Also, a better allen wrench is pretty important given you don't want those screws loosening up on you. ... show more

  • This thing is AWESOME!!
Style: MAX G2-43 miles
I bought this early December. I broke my elbow on the 8th, and it arrived on the 9th. D’oh! I was concerned because of the reviews I read, but now that I’ve been riding it for about a month, I can easily say, “This thing is AWESOME!!!” The turn signals are bright af, you can customize most everything in the app. It consistently goes 22 mph (I don’t weigh much) and does better on hills in San Francisco than the ride share scooters!! The main stem is very tall, & it’s rock solid. The shocks work wonders, and are even fun as I bounce while going over bumps. My only complaints are the buttons for the turn signal & horn. They’re small and I’ve seen another G2 at the gym with missing turn signal buttons. Also, the horn should be as loud as the movement alarm. Well, it’s San Francisco. No one pays attention to horns anyway. Be it from a scooter or a fire truck. All in all, I’m super happy with my purchase!! ... show more
