An Amazing Hard Drive.
From the moment I plugged it in, this drive has been a dream, 10TB of storage is a lot and I don't plan on needing any more storage for the many years to come. It's also a really fast drive too considering the fact that this is a HDD and not an SSD. I've had no noise issues which I was slightly worried about since the mounting holes on this drive only let me screw in 2 screws into this drive using the mounting system in my rosewill blackhawk ultra case, but it is running very well. It's a pretty penny to pay, but from my experiences with this drive, it's entirely worth it if you have any need for this much storage. Heat has also simply not been an issue with me on this drive too in case anyone was wondering. I will update if anything changes. Update 3/28/2017: After using it for almost a solid month for gaming, I can confirm that the drive is still running amazingly :)

huge and pretty quiet. If I need another one of this ...
I wanted a massive drive for storage of my games and movies and music I had accumulated through out the years for a new build. This drive fit the bill and works tremendously. It is very fast, huge and pretty quiet. If I need another one of this size down the road I would not hesitate to get another one.

Faulty drives, useless customer service.
This is the second drive I've had same issue. There's a persistent clicking during idle you can hear, and even feel if you put your hand on the case of your pc closest to the driver enclosure/mounting point. Happens every 3-4 seconds, and will not go away. I've tried everything that has been suggested, ran the SeaTools long test which stops the clicking for the 17 hour duration, but it comes back immediately afterwards. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary, just trying to get this drive to be a decent mass storage for media in my PC. Connected to a power supply with wattage to spare, then a sata cable straight to my motherboard. Hell, I even have a regular 3TB barracuda drive that works perfectly and is silent. Worst part is when I decided to contact SeaGate customer service, I gave them the serial number of the drive, and received two different emails telling me it "is an internal component of the external hard drive" without explaining what that actually means in context of my issue. The second of the two emails then informed me that because of this fact, they aren't able to act on the warranty. Now let me tell you right now, this drive was sold directly from Amazon, and I'm aware some people do sketchy returns, but this came in sealed OEM packaging, it was unopened, was not formatted, had the right amount of space, and the label was pristine and untouched. So if there's any fault here in terms of it somehow being the wrong item, I'm willing to put that on Seagate. That said, so the five year warranty these drives come with? Try one weekend and Seagate is telling me they're not going to honor it. Faaaaaantastic. EDIT: I've received further clarification from Seagate that apparently the drive was never meant to be sold and was intended to be used inside a an external enclosure. This of course makes no sense as like I previously stated, the drive was factory sealed. Nevertheless, be forewarned, apparently, by Seagate's own words, you're not supposed to be buying these drives. If you have any issues with them, you better hope that they appear within the Amazon 30 day return window, because chances are Seagate's going to claim these were never meant to be sold and not honor your warranty.

Pretty good, but...
I've had one of these in my desktop for about five years now. I'm building a NAS and decided it was time to order a second one to backup my backup... This drive has been great and dependable for all this time, so why not. The new one got here a few days ago. Sealed in it's packaging, but somehow has small dents on the outer shell. The packaging was fine, so it appears to have happened during manufacturing. I'm not sure if it's going to effect anything internally as I haven't tested yet, but I do want to warn you of the potential manufacturing issues. I've removed one star for this. I'll be completing my NAS build this weekend, and then I'll know if it's functional or not. If it's not, I'll be returning it, and I'll update this review. But, just beware that apparently this is a thing now.

Storage and more
Installed as my secondary drive for storage, formatted and installed in seconds. This drive is so much quieter than my other - - drive, Initially I heard what is best described as occasional chirps but Seagate asked me to run the tools on their website and now it is silent. Fast and quiet, great for those all in one PC's or a tower.

***BEWARE*** Worked OK for 80 days and then it died
I initially purchased 5 of these refurbished drives. I then purchased a few more and they arrived from another vendor. One of the drives from the original 5 worked OK for 80 days and then it died. This is beyond the "warranty" period offered so I am out of luck. I now believe such refurbished drives are not worthwhile without an extended warranty. ***BEWARE*** =========================================================================== + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-SATA_SSD_21112524000537 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-SATA_SSD_21112524000537: SATA SSD: 84°F + : -------------------- + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA21WHMD /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA21WHMD: ST10000DM0004-1ZC101: 95°F + : -------------------- + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA222W46 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA222W46: ST10000DM0004-1ZC101: 98°F + : -------------------- + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA22FBMR /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA22FBMR: ST10000DM0004-1ZC101: 98°F + : -------------------- + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA22WVEW /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA22WVEW: : S.M.A.R.T. not available + : -------------------- + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA28VKLH /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA28VKLH: ST10000DM0004-1ZC101: 95°F + : -------------------- + hddtemp -u f /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA2AAK06 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST10000DM0004-1ZC101_ZA2AAK06: ST10000DM0004-1ZC101: 104°F + : -------------------- ------- :: 2022-03-22 09:47:14 : MODE=run : cmd_len=99 : -- Enter command (?=help) : pool: epool state: DEGRADED status: One or more devices are faulted in response to persistent errors.
