  • Works great, just make sure to test it first
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 28TB Color: DESKTOP
Works great, just make sure to test it first I bought this hard drive and the first one I got was dead on arrival. Unfortunately, I lost around 2 TB of data after moving files to it before realizing it was bad. The replacement, though, has been perfect so far. Both Seagate and Amazon handled the swap super fast, the new one was delivered out the very next day, which I really appreciated. A few tips: • These drives can sometimes get damaged during shipping like mine did. • Before you move all your data, test the drive first or transfer a small batch to be safe. • The replacement drive’s been running smoothly with no issues. • Huge shoutout to Seagate and Amazon for their quick and easy replacement process. Bottom line: Once you get a working one, this drive performs great and the support is top-notch. Just test it first so you don’t risk losing data. I’d give the service 10/10 and the drive itself 8/10 because of that initial failure. Tip: keep it in a cool environment to increase longevity ... show more

  • Make sure to place it upright as intended or you might run into very high temperatures!
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 28TB Color: DESKTOP
I just got the unit today, it easily copies at 200mb/s if not more and was ready to go from plugging it in. I only made a NTFS quick format to change from the stock ExFat. The only thing to note for owners" DO NOT place the drive flat, only place it upright. I got temperatures exceeding 60 degrees celsius when i copied 1.2 TB of data to it! At least here in the Philippines this is an issue, put it upright and point a fan at it and it stays below 45 degrees. Overall, can recommend! Good value for money considerin git is 28tb of storage. ... show more

  • Seagate Expansion 28TB External Hard Drive HDD
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 28TB Color: DESKTOP
I only had it for a few days and it seems to work good. I plugged it into my Windows 10 machine and copied 50 MB of files with no trouble. I plugged it into my Windows 7 machine, copied file with no trouble. Windows XP computer did not see the hard drive. Don't know why. Maybe it is not supported. It does make a little noise on startup but I read other reviews and I guess this is standard. I have other Seagate backup drives and they work good. I have one 5TB Seagate that does not work any more because it fell off my desk while coping files. It does not like that. ... show more

  • Massive storage at a great price
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 24TB Color: DESKTOP
I am using this as an extra backup for my NAS. The USB 3.2 connection is very fast. Have not had any reliability issues over three weeks while performing automated nightly backups. It comes installed as exFAT which is usually fine. But as this is my final emergency backup drive I had to convert it to NTFS which took well over 24 hours. But I feel more secure with NTFS than exFAT. Temp is not cool so make sure to keep vents clear but it also isn't dangerously hot to keep it near your other devices. ... show more

  • Read if your transferring from another hard drive
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 28TB Color: DESKTOP
I have a 5 TB that is on its last legs. So I’m transferring al my files. I keep getting errors or the transfers will stop. But I’m sure it’s mostly my bad drive. But my brand new Seagate keeps making sounds. Like I can hear it through the dresser. But I’m guessing it normal. So Chat GPT tells me to use crystalDiskInfo, it gives you info on your drives like the health and temperature. So I’m seeing my bad drive is obviously bad. I knew that. But my seagate is in good health but the temperature is like 56! So GPT say it’s not getting enough airflow and I’m like Duh. They put the vents on the bottom with like a centimeter little stub legs. So I put it on its side and it didn’t really help. GPT says lift it. So that’s why you see the photo of it in on the bottles. But still hot. GPT says it needs a fan for airflow. So I remember I have neck fan. BINGO. Temp drops imminently. So that is my drawn out way of saying what a horrible design. Now everything is normal. So if you’re having issues with your drive you might want to see if it’s overhead. It will be ok for a while at high temperatures, but a few months and your drive will go bad. I actually remember why I never got anything above 5 TB. Because if something goes wrong. You’re in trouble. Hence why I got a bad drive now. But my other 5 TB is still good. Oh well. Too late now. But now that I know how to cool my device. I’m hoping it last for a long time. It is a good deal if the device can actually cool itself. I was wondering my my room was so hot. Even my mom was like why it’s so hot in here. I’m like I don’t know. How can this little hard drive make so much heat 🤣🤣 Anyway, I just wanted to help others if they had issues. But it’s plug and play for PC. I wish the plug was smaller or just USB plug and start. ... show more

  • Big and fast enough for me.
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 24TB Color: DESKTOP
I shoot a lot of pictures and my camera is a 100 MP camera so the files are quite large, when I go out I will fill a 256 GB card with ease. so the need to a large Hard Drive is something I need maybe not you, but I filled a 10 TB drive up in the last 7 months. It is fast enough for my needs and formats with ease for a Mac. just purchased a 28 TB for backup because it was on sale and the cost was only $10 more. I am old enough to remember the first hard drives 20 MB would cost you $200 back then and computer memory was 128 K for a big one my first was 16 K. boy how times have changed. ... show more

  • Lots of space all in one place
Style: Expansion Desktop HDD Capacity: 20TB Color: DESKTOP
I’ve only had it for a few days but it works. I have noticed that if my Adobe Premiere files are on this drive then it can take about a minute to get going if you take a break from editing for long enough for the disk to stop spinning. I wouldn’t plan to use this if you’re recording sound because it can be pretty loud. It is nice to have 18TB (20TB) all in one drive. I use it as a backup for all of my smaller drives that I take to work and on shoots. ... show more
