  • great treadmill
This is in every respect a 5-star treadmill. There is one VERY annoying flaw from Schwinn (more on that at the end) but not with the treadmill itself. It is well build and very sturdy and delightfully quiet. Be aware, however, that I don't want/need/use any of the connectivity features so I don't have any of the problems with that stuff that other people here have complained about. I find the bed to be more than long enough and even though I do not run on it, I don't see how doing so would be a problem. I think people who have complained a bit about that must have a very long stride. The "cup holders" are actually bigger than just for cups, which is nice. The slot for books/Kindle/etc is a good feature. I don't care much about the heart-rate and burned calorie features but I can see that some folks would be happy they are there. All of the features (speed, tilt, safety, console display, etc) are excellent, although when I first started I would have preferred that it go lower than 1 mph (I'm 81 years old and NOT a fast walker). The fan is a little on the weak side, but I'm only 5'9" so have no trouble with it blowing up to my face. My 6'3" son might have a different experience. I was worried that at my age, and with my failing strength, I would not be able to use the feature that allows you to lift the back of the bed and get the whole thing up to about 45 degrees so you can, should you need to, get at the serial number (which is inconveniently located on a bottom rail), but I found that I can manage it. Once you get it all the way up, it locks in place and then has the excellent feature of a hydraulic piston that drops it nice and slowly back down with you not having to do anything other than engage the piston release. I think the piston must also be helping with the lifting up. Also, the tilt up makes it much easier to get at the screws that allow you to loosen/tighten the belt to align it and make sure it doesn't slip. It IS quite heavy (the manual says 155 lbs and I believe it) AND it will not go though a standard sized doorway without taking it apart at least partially) so best you put it where you plan to keep it. The wiring from the base up to the console is NOT well designed and would be easy to screw up during assembly. The up-tilt I just mentioned is also so that you can move it around (it has rollers at the front), but again, it is HEAVY. I had two issues with the treadmill at first but both turned out to be totally MY fault or misunderstanding. When I called their support line for help with the issues I spoke to different people each time and both were extremely knowledgeable, polite, professional, and helpful. For one of the issues, before I discovered it was MY problem, not theirs, they were going to send me a part and have a technician come to the house and install it. I was impressed with that since I live in a small town about 45 minutes away from any city. The annoying thing I mentioned at the start is not actually with the treadmill, it is with Schwinn. In the user manual they recommend a particular lubrication system ("walk-n-lube"), which as it turns out, it a TERRIBLE choice (doesn't work well at all) for this treadmill so I wasted $40 on it which I found very annoying. SO ... I definitely recommend this treadmill. ... show more

  • Excellent Without Costly Frills
The most import thing I was looking for with this purchase was not to have a problem that required me to return the treadmill which is a massive hassle. Even with highly rated Consumer Reports treadmills sold on Amazon, I saw a high percentage of 1 star ratings with problems that indicated poor quality control from the manufacturer. I have not had any problems with the Schwinn 810 what so ever. It was very easy to assemble. The electrical cables have are attached to a guide wire for moving the wires up through the vertical post. I recommend feeding the cables into the bottom of the post a little at a time while pulling the guide wire at the top of the post. I have had other treadmills that were larger, heavier, with powerful motors, and with larger computer screens This Schwinn 810 does everything I need from a treadmill and does it well. It is extremely quiet and runs smoothly. The deck has a little necessary 'bounce' to avoid excessive impact to the knees. The screen is large and clear enough for me to see without my glasses. One thing I particularly like is that it displays the actual speed as the motor is ramping up. I don't need an online coach and don't care if the treadmill provides a virtual run through a scenic area. If I was training for a marathon, weighed 250lbs, and was running 7minute miles I would probably want something larger and more powerful. I am an average guy running 6 mph for about an hour and am very thrilled with this machine. ... show more

  • Poor quality treadmill, Schwinn bought out (wasn't any good before that anyway)
I'm going to finally chime in with my 1-star review after owning the treadmill for almost 2.5 years (bought in Dec. 2022). Because of all the initial bad reviews back when I bought it, I was actually kind of afraid to use it myself due to the good possibility of it breaking soon, so I stuck to my rebounder instead and used this treadmill for my 2 little 10-lb. dogs to walk on whenever it's too wet or cold to walk outside. So the treadmill hasn't really had all that much use since it was new but has still been properly maintained and kept spotlessly clean. More recently (about a month ago) I decided to finally chance it myself, and I have run on it a few times, with problems! Even before this, I had noticed the console acting wonky during the last whole year with it doing something that some other people have had trouble with - it reboots randomly while I press the pause/stop button to end the dogs' "workout session" with a very loud beep and clearing of the display to start over. That is not normal as it does not actually "pause", but instead resets. This would prevent you from being able to continue on with a workout after pausing it and would lose all your information. So I already knew something was up with the electronics before I even tried it myself. I always walk the dogs on the plain "manual" program, no incline or anything, just a straight amount of time. I tried the "custom" program, but it didn't work. It kept changing speeds on me without my having made any changes, and no one else has ever used the treadmill to save any kind of custom program before. I went ahead and tried to save my new custom program anyway at the end of the workout, but the OK button would not do anything, nor any other button either, and so it would not save it, and after a very short bit of trying, it rebooted itself again and cleared all my custom info from my workout, which was so frustrating. I called support and learned that Schwinn and Bowflex had been bought out by Johnson Health Tech in early 2024 (this is never a good sign). The rep recommended that I try resetting the machine and e-mailed me a page from the extended manual to recalibrate the machine through some button presses on the display. She said that would reset the machine and that it wouldn't hurt it to recalibrate it, anyway, and that it wouldn't do any harm. That was easy to do, and the next time I used the treadmill, I tried the custom program all over again from scratch. It still kept changing speeds on me randomly out of the blue by overriding the speeds I entered (I was doing high intensity interval running), but I completed the workout nonetheless and then at the end pressed OK to save the custom program when prompted. It beeped once, which I had been told was probably all I was going to get when saving, with no actual visible confirmation. On a following day when I tested the treadmill to run again and see if it had saved my custom program, I plugged in and turned the machine on, only to have the display flash and clear abnormally, and it briefly flashed a screen that had "A01, C26, and U31" on it, then quickly disappear and have another fast screen flash with "Int" show up, then the "Welcome User 1" screen. When I pressed the custom button to retrieve my saved workout, I got nothing. The button wouldn't work. No beep, no light, no nothing. Nor would any of the other program buttons, except for the manual one, do anything visible or auditory either. Just dead buttons. I called tech support again and was told that since the treadmill was out of warranty, they couldn't tell me anything about those codes or anything else about what could have happened and that it would be $140 house call fee for a repairman plus an additional $150/hour for his time plus any parts he deemed necessary. NO THANX!!! (Even though the recalibration procedure they recommended for me to do was what caused the treadmill's electronics to worsen and break further and they had said it would do no harm.) They transferred me to the non-warranty support dept., who did nothing but put in a "ticket" and said they would take a look at the info I supplied her with and would e-mail me in up to 2 weeks. She also said they called what I had described to her as a difficult and very involved problem, so she sounded very dubious that they would be able to help me in any way. Great. (I haven't heard anything from them.) This is now a clown operation. I'm not ever going to call for an expensive repair appointment, which would likely be enough cost to buy the treadmill all over again, and would bring an inept repairman to the house to waste my time and money and fix nothing. As of right this minute after going through all that, the machine will currently still do the bare minimum manual program if you just get on there and press a speed and walk or run on it for some length of time, so I'll just use it in that very limited capacity until it worsens further and won't even do that (which could always be the very next time I go to use it), and then just throw it out on the curb for garbage pickup. I will never buy anything again from this company. ... show more
