I have used this brand of hair color for 9 years without any stated problems, i.e. non colorfast, irritation, etc. I have had Nothing... My roots are a very dark brown and this hair color brand GENTLY strips the root color and replaces it with the color stated. NO IRRITATION,and lasting color for the next 4 1/2-5 weeks until regrowth. Beautiful almond blonde. My original hair had dyed brown ends and 3inch ash black natural regrowth. I had to start at the ends first because my natural hair takes to color super quick and this keeps my regrowth from being extra lighter than the rest. Color in the end came out as expected. My braiding hair or extensions to match this color are between or a blend of #4 and # 30 on the brown spectrum vs the orange/red side. I do wish it was a bit more moisturizing. It does not cover grays. Easy to follow instructions. 2nd use update: color came out even better after my second use. Such a nice golden almond color. I ditched my old golden blonde from another brand because it would turn orange. This dye color does not turn orange. I can do my braids with a blend of #30 and #27 and maybe a little #4 if I want to tone down the brightness. Even though it does not cover grey hair, it tones it a bit so it blends into color. Color has dimension to it and it makes my curls pop. My hair is soft which is different because my first time use made my hair feel lacking in conditioner but 2nd time hair felt great so gave it all 5 stars now. ... show more

I bleached my hair 3x. The first photo is my color before (I had dyed it a looong time ago with ION hair dye in the darkest brown color and it showed up nearly black.) after the first bleach (almond blonde color) , it was still pretty dark, especially where the ION hair dye was (at the tips-mid length of my hair). I decided to bleach it again with the almond blonde, and again, it lightened it up but didn’t do very much. I bleached it one more time with the Platinum blonde color instead and it lightened up a lot! The last two photos is what it looked like after, with 1-2 uses of purple shampoo treatment. I like the almond blonde color but unfortunately it didn’t look that color when it lifted my hair and instead, my hair came out to be more of a red color, and it wasn’t able to fully lift the ION dye out of the ends of my hair, leaving me with darker tips. I like the bleach itself because the first 2 rounds of bleach, my hair was still pretty soft afterwards. It wasn’t until the 3rd round that my hair started to get a little frail and rough. I will probably buy again once my roots grow out more ! ... show more

I bought light brown to match the model's hair color and even up my hair and color the grays. But the result was much lighter. The color went on nicely and rinsed well. Instructions don't say to shampoo hair, so I didn't, but rinsed well and washed the next day. The conditioner was fine. I used a regular portion, about 1 tbsp. My hair came out much lighter than expected, and grays were not fully covered. The really odd thing ... is that it seemed to have lightened my hair, which I didn't think was possible. I'm waiting a few weeks to get a darker color, likely a different brand that covers gray. ... show more

Color: 1.99 Black Purple First the old standard statements: "Wish I could give ZERO stars!!" and "Wish I had read the Amazon reviews". I have been coloring my hair for about 37 years. I started getting gray roots in high school, but weirdly it never went beyond just the roots. So I started coloring my hair at 18 when my mom couldn't tell me no LOL My usual brand was out of stock, so I thought I would look into other brands to see if I was missing out on something. Spoiler alert: I wasn't. I read a lot of online reviews of different hair color brands. All articles said this brand had the best gray coverage, would leave my hair silky & shiny, and the color was long lasting. The reviews also said this would last 5-6 weeks but the instructions even say every 4 weeks. UGH! My natural hair color is dark brown/light black and the company's website and even the box said this is a good color just to add subtle coloration to dark tones and that this color would cover gray....oh it did b/c now my roots are PINK COPPER!!!!! So I have long strands of black hair popping out of a pink scalp. Ta-dah! So glad it was just my roots and not my whole head. So I have at least 4 weeks of ponytails and French braids to hide my roots. This product is horrible. Don't believe the hype. I'm going to stick w/tried and true L*o*r*e*a*l*E*s*s*e*n*c*e, slight smell be damned, that product has never let me down ... show more

Love this! It was definitely strong and burned a little ( it’s blonde so it has to be a little harsh to get those roots) but it ended up a beautiful color. The give you a purple conditioner that I did not even need.
