This wonderful piece of sanitary hardware by American Standard arrived in two separate packages (tank & hardware kit, and bowl). The included installation instructions cover several models and configurations, so be sure to follow along accordingly. The install was pretty straight forward, but I'll list the things I wish someone had said prior to my install as maybe that will help someone in the future. This toilet should fit any standard configuration where you have 12" from the wall to the flange bolts. After positioning your T-bolts into the drain flange, don't forget to thead on the keeper-bolts they provided to keep them in position (although they aren't required, they make positioning easier since you can't knock the T-bolts over). The directions include a graphic of this step, but with the poor quality image - it's unclear what they're instructing you to do. Also, there's little clearance under the tank - so you may want to double-check the height of your flange and then check it again. I purchased a non-wax gasket that promised 10 years of life only to find that it caused a .25" gap around the edge of the toilet bowl base and the floor. It was tempting to ratchet down and compress the gasket, but I'm sure the bowl would have cracked before it made contact with the floor. I had to remove all of that and go with the standard wax ring since it can compress much thinner than waxless models. Using a wax ring (which, to be fair, is listed as required in the instructions) - the toilet fit perfectly. The touchless flush is a nice thing to have. It's battery operated, and the AA batteries are suspended on the tank hardware in a waterproof enclosure. Replacing the batteries shouldn't be too bad as you can unclip the enclosure and change them out elsewhere. The hand sensor device is like a hockey puck, powered by AAA's. It's not overly sensitive and appears to function best with your hand waved right over it as opposed to false positives where you brush over the side for some reason. The instructions say that the sensor must be within 3 feet of the tank, but I was flushing the toilet from the next room when I was putting the AAA's in. All in all this was an easy installation and the toilet looks and works great. We installed it in our guest bath, which is probably exactly what American Standard had in mind in our pandemic world.

I love this toilet so much that I bought three. I love the automatic wave flush instead of the handle. What I’m disappointed with is that the nut caps on the bottom in the back don’t stay on. What am I doing wrong? It’s like they’re two small for the holes and they don’t fit tight and fall off all the time.

Our home is a bit of a mix of styles. We have a wrap-around porch but like some more modern elements that lean more towards a transitional style. When I came across this toilet I was excited because it leans slightly more towards a modern style but still looks like a classic toilet with the tank on the top. We also love technology so having the touchless option was a big plus for us. Installation is a little trickier since the skirt goes all the way to the bottom requiring you to squeeze your hand behind to tighten the bolts. It does make cleaning a lot nicer since there are larger smooth surfaces to clean as opposed to a normal toilet where you need to clean around the back. We really like the height of the toilet. I'm not going to say I'm getting older but since I work out 4-5 times a week my legs regularly feel like they are beyond my years. Having the "Right Height" is a big help. It WAS great for about 2 years...just had to change the batteries. But the control module (upper part of internal battery pack) failed. Either that or some other part failed. Others have seen the same problem. It still flushes from the side button, which I think is pneumatic (yellow air tube). No parts availability, according to a live human at American Standard. They just don't support that model anymore, period. The company will send you a new tank with traditional manual handle if you are within the 5-year warranty period. Yay. According to the quite helpful service agent at American Standard, this model was popular during the Covid pandemic but no longer supported.

I love my toilet, and so does everyone who comes to visit! The skirt gives it a very sleek, attractive look, and the size is perfect for my bathroom. It has more of a suction flush instead of a swirl flush, which is great for us, as our last toilet swirled the contents right back out of the toilet and onto my leg when I flushed it. The seat had a slow close feature, which is awesome around my 6 year old. We are too ambivalent to mount the flusher anywhere, so for now, it sits on the back of the toilet. Installation was a breeze and absolute effortless, especially since I paid a professional plumber to come install it. He said it wasn’t complicated, and figured it out pretty quickly.

OK, just to be clear, 3 of the 5 hours in my subject line were not American Standard's fault. I had to replace some stuff in my bathroom to make this work that required multiple trips to the hardware store and several YouTube videos. That said, AS isn't entirely blameless either. There were problems with the tank install that probably could've been avoided by making that section of the manual longer than 2 pages, with one full-page picture. The instructions start with the assumption that you've taken every piece apart and then tightened them and put them all back exactly where you found them, none of which is even implied in the manual. I kept having things go wrong, looking up a video, figuring out what was different in the video than my setup, and then tightening it down and trying again. The other problem I ran into was that the plunger on the flush mechanism opened whenever I turned the water supply on, so the tank wouldn't fill. Even when I filled it with outside water, as soon as the water was turned on, flussssshhhhh. If you have this problem, you can solve it by holding the backup switch in while you turn the water on, and then release it. Now that that's all out of the way, this toilet is awesome. A couple inches taller than normal, with nice clean lines and a classy look. The flush mechanism is quiet, the touchless part of it works flawlessly, and the soft-close lid is a nice touch. I appreciate the way the p-trap is hidden, although it did make screwing the base down a bit tricky, and the plastic plugs to hide the screws stand out against the porcelain sides like the bolts on Frankenstein's monster. Overall, I'm really happy with this toilet and glad we replaced our old one with it. It's a great upgrade that adds a bit of class to our guest powder room.

This toilet is easier to clean with the sleekness bottom portion and I love that we only have to waive our hand for it to flush for us. We’re not having to constantly disinfect and clean that off. It was easy to switch out myself and I’m just a diy’er.
