I have just started using this and it works great. This is my second Schumacher charger which I have owned for at least 50 years. This smaller maintainer/charger will mostly be used on my dual battery diesel truck that sometimes just sits for weeks at a time. It has been keeping both batteries charged just fine. I have also used it on 2 of my motorcycles to charge them up and again it did a good job. Schumacher is a leading maker of battery chargers and has been for many years. Not sure what all the negative comments about cord length are. Maybe an older version? I got the SC1299 august 2024 and the cord is stupidly long. It’s 11ft. More than enough. I have used battery tender brand, NAPA and Nocos. Battery tenders are great, but ridiculous expensive IMO. NAPAs are good but my experience is only with larger chargers and not maintainers. Nocos are nice but kind of pricey. Enter this. It’s easier to use than anything else I have used as you just hook it up and walk away. No setting battery type, amps, etc. It does all the work. A simple LED light to tell you what is going on. If you are familiar with the Noco 1 it’s much bigger than that but you don’t have to set anything. CONS? When it is in float mode the LED light is off. So how do you know it’s plugged in and working? You don’t. So if you need a status LED like 99% of chargers and maintainers have? I bought 4 of these when they were priced good. They are awesome. I have 5 vintage vehicles in my collection and in the past I was killing my batteries with big 12v chargers. These trickle charges keep all my vintage vehicles charges through all seasons and they keep the battery healthy instead of boiling the electrolyte within the battery (which is what the old school chargers do). ... show more
