  • Quite happy!
For the price the quality is pretty dang good! The setup was easy with clear instructions. There is a bit of a delay due to being wireless, but it's still quite accurate. The camera quality is clear and you can hear in the videos clearly, too. I also like that you can adjust the detection zone, sensitivity, times to record, and even a siren option! I'm happy with them as they give a peace of mind. ... show more

  • Great little cameras for the money!!!
Already had Roku cameras in my house. Switched to them when nest decided to upgrade and make all the older cameras obsolete. I refused to spend $200 a camera because they wanted to change crap up. I was very impressed with the roku cameras I had inside so I decided to add one outside too. This thing was super easy to set up. The only thing I had issue with was the tiny screws and screw holes to mount it. So far it records well. I like that I can pull it up on my phone anytime and check what’s going on outside my apt. The only time it lags is when I first open the app and click on that specific camera, then once it opens to it, it have no issue with freezing or anything. The only other thing I have issue with is that I don’t get notifications when it sees a person and I have it set to notify when a person or my pet comes into frame. I will have to mess around with settings more and figure that out…hopefully. All in all, it’s a really great little camera for a fraction of the price of nest. Quality of the picture is great. Night vision is great. Sound is good. I talk to my kitty cat while I’m at work and he meows back at the camera so I know he hears me. One thing that I noticed is false is the battery life! It said that it can go up to 6 months on a single charge and that is not true… at least not in my experience so far. I charged it fully and by the next day it was already down to 90%. It drops about 10% a day and that might be because I live in an apt and there’s always someone walking by. Someone who doesn’t have as much foot traffic might get a longer battery life out of it. ... show more

  • functionality very limited without subscription.
The Roku camera system is relatively intuitive. I was able to connect an outdoor camera through the base station into my mesh EERO router, however, you definitely need to temporarily disable the 5Ghz router transmitter to establish the connection. The system is compact, appears well constructed. Several observations: 1. base station appears to be an extender which has limited abilities & doesn't provide value if you have an extensive mesh router system. Performance appears limited to how far it's antennas can provide signal strength which might be less than the router's capabilities. 2. The response time of motion detected for our system appears to be much slower. This could be partially due to the longer distance the camera is positioned from the base station, but, with outdoor cameras the goal is to put them in strategic locations outside. The base station is not weather resistant & must stay in sheltered areas. 3. The night vision works well & demonstrates longer range which is very helpful if you are monitoring a large yard at night. 4. The low purchase price is attractive, however, while the information might all be there you are essentially forced to enter into a subscription agreement if you wish to see any video, have the Roku system display interruptions on your Roku TV. the microSD card only captures still photos & I haven't been able to successfully record video on it. 5. The still photo capture without a subscription often misses the object that triggers the motion. I suspect it's because it's optimized for video capture. So, you have to carefully position camera, so motion is most likely towards the camera in order to capture the actual disturbance 6.The camera's ability (with subscription) to tag the difference between a package, pet, person appears to be very good. This is definitely a subscription selling feature for those wanting this capability. 7. The battery appeared to lose its charge slowly until it crossed the 50% threshold, then dropped more abruptly. This may be tied to me making multiple adjustments when first installing it. Should I decide to keep these 3 camaras I will post any updates. Overall, I'm debating whether to return these. While the price point is attractive, the designers have reduced the capability offered without a subscription. The base camera should at least have the ability to record video on a microSD card that can be viewed without requiring a subscription. I've owned camera systems in the past that offered this feature with much older technology. Offering higher end features such as tagging can more easily be justified with a subscription. Added note .12.25 My 2 week “free” subscription stopped after 9 days. The other 2 cameras purchased never were able to be enabled for these features. I contacted support through the amazon site through chat. The virtual chat eventually provided a number to call which ended up being an offshore support center. I was on the phone collectively for 1 hour 20 minutes. The customer service & technical support kept referring me back to the other, one claiming it was a free subscription problem, the other claiming it was a camera issue. The technical tier 1 support’s competency was limited to questions such as powering off the cameras, reinstalling the app etc, despite what I explained as already did. After being put on hold for the 5th time I hung up, but was called back. At that time they asked for IOS version, phone model & Mac ID of one of the cameras telling me they would hand this to the “back room” who would download a software update in the near future. I recognize this is either a software issue they fully aware of without a fix or they are pushing me off. I am returning these cameras. This appears to be a business model where the concept is defined in the US & everything else is offloaded to third parties including offshore support centers. ... show more

  • Good camera but patience is required
The roku wireless camera system does work good for the value of the camera. We personally have had some frustrating moments when the cameras disconnect from the base, or a storm occurs and we have to re sync all the cameras. Overall it has been a good experience, it does notify packages pets and cars very well with a clear quality picture. Worth the buy but have patience in setting it up. ... show more

  • It works well.
After years of using a different brand of camera that stopped updating the firmware, and didn't keep it's promise of free videos saved for 7 days for the lifetime of the cameras; I had to try something new. I really love this camera, it was easy to set up and the app is pretty good. The price was right, and although I don't like to be forced in to a plan to view footage, it's still less expensive than my old camera system. The picture quality is superior, the motion detection is adjustable and picks up the hummingbirds, dog, and humans just fine! There's an SD slot if I need to use it, so I'm not sure about the storage capacity, but it's functional. ... show more
