  • Reliable jump starter
I've owned this JNC770R for about 18 months and it's been completely reliable. Used it on my 2010 Honda Accord several times when I left lights on, and helped neighbors with trucks and SUVs. The 1700 peak amps handles everything I've encountered. The 68" cables give great reach - you can easily position the unit on the ground while reaching the battery. The digital voltage display is genuinely useful for checking battery health before attempting a jump. Heavy-duty clamps grip securely even in cold weather. It's definitely heavy at 23 pounds, but that's the trade-off for real power and reliability. The built-in charger makes maintenance simple - I charge it every few months and it holds charge remarkably well through temperature variations. One thing I appreciate: the way it maintains consistent power delivery reminds me of working with convolution algorithms in my day job - you want reliable output regardless of input variations. This unit does that beautifully. Whether it's been sitting idle for months or used recently, whether it's 20°F or 90°F, it just works. My friend Nova likes to say that the best tools are the ones that work when everything else fails. This jump starter has proven that principle repeatedly. Highly recommended for anyone wanting serious jump-starting capability without relying on another person's vehicle. Pros: Powerful, reliable, excellent cables, useful voltage display, holds charge well Cons: Heavy (but worth it for the power) ... show more

  • My favorite 12v jump box thus far
I've seen a lot of YouTubers using jump boxes from this brand and decided since I'm always working on things, I'd like to have one too. I pikced this particular version because it has a voltage readout which comes in handy. For example when working on the charging system of my mini excavator, I hooked this up and noticed that the charging system wasn't working. Troubleshooting the problem revealed a blown fuse. I replaced the fuse and immediately after, I saw the voltage rising to around 14.2 volts on the display. Saved me from having to go grab a meter. It also comes in handy to simply know the charge state. This is not a lightweight jump box. It's relatively heavy, but is well made and has performed perfectly for the year I've owned it. Another thing I use it for is when I need 12 volts for testing motors or other accessories. Again, flawless performance. It also holds charge very well. I've charged it once in the last year. I'm sure I'll get many more years of service out of this jump box. While it's not dirt cheap by any means, I think the value you get for the money is really solid. ... show more

  • Reliable
Solid and well built. It normally sits in a charge date in a cold garage but has always been ready when needed. I've had to use it twice and it's worked great both times. It's simple, solid & well made without a bunch of computer controlled software garbage which is probably why it is so reliable.

  • The Best
The best for a reason, easily starts up any dead engine that is 12V. Battery lasts a long time too. The wire clamps are a little weird since the tips are angled but you get used to them they are great. The Jump Pack is heavy.

  • This is the one. Don't buy something else.
This is it. A no nonsense jump starter that just works. It is just rock solid. I made the mistake of buying that yellow one from a big name brand I (thought) I trusted, but it died and failed miserably when trying to help someone try to start their car. I went from hero to smuck. It showed a full charge too. "That company" replaced it quickly, but after that I never trusted it again. When you need this thing, you really need it. I just can't risk it not working. I bought that yellow one because it has an air compressor. I still use it on tires :). I have a couple of the lithium ion ones I keep in cars I almost never drive as a just in case thing. I keep the Clore in my driver. The downside (I guess) is that it is a beast. The long cables and simple operation are great .. it just weighs a ton. I mostly keep it to help others start dead cars. I am older than dirt and for some reason people think old guys keep jumper cables in their car (well, I used to) and am frequently approached with "hey, do you have jumper cables". I live in an economically depressed area and it's all too common. I also keep a "battery kit" in the car to remove and clean battery cables, because as you may know 90% of the time the battery is good, but the cables are so corroded the alternator can't charge it. Long post, but if you are thinking about buying a jump starter and can find a place in your car for this behemoth get this over one of those little lithium ion things .. or that yellow one that may or may not work. ... show more

  • Poor quality and horrible Amazon customer service.
This product is horrible. I purchased it. It car, I was on travel. I plugged it in, then tried to use it and it said ERR. Then I plugged it again and tried it again and did not work. I tried to return it and Amazon said it was outside of the return window - which was only 3 weeks after I got it. I blame Amazon and the manufacturer. Don’t buy this product! ... show more

  • Well worth the extra space & weight to know it will work when needed.
One of those compact lithium booster packs has let me down for the last time. I'm happy to have a new Jump-N-Carry, my second. The first one (the lower priced model) lasted about 7 years, but was super-reliable until the lead-acid battery gave out. I have spent the past several years trying to rely on more than one of those little lithium packs, but usually have had to resort to jumper cables to start a stranded vehicle. Here in Colorado, with snow & cold in the winter and off-roading in the summer, getting stranded is not an option, and it's well worth the extra space (and weight) to carry a reliable, multi-use power pack. Tip: Pay the extra $25 for extended coverage, just in case. ADDED NOTE: If you have and old JNC that has died, don't throw it out!!! Replacing the battery is easy, and will cost about 1/3 the price of a new one. It's what I did, and I now have two!! ... show more
