  • Rock-hard, very "slippery" finish and extremely even heat
Style: Classic Size: 10" Crepe Pan
The finish on this pan looks and feels like the ceramic it is! I don't put it in the dishwasher, even though it's dishwasher-safe. But then, why would I when it cleans up so easily? Also, I don't use metal utensils since I have silicone ones, and I store it with a paper towel in it to keep it from scratching. Probably I don't need to do either of those things, but I really, really like this pan. I want it to live forever. It is the *absolute* best for very thin (or not) omelettes - better than any other pan I've ever used. It retains heat beautifully: I can turn off the gas before the omelette is quite done - and it turns out perfectly, without browning. And, it slides out smoothly so it's possible to slip the omelette out halfway, fill it, and flip the last half over. Easy-peasy. So long as I keep a steady hand there isn't a single tear. Wow! Some day soon I plan to actually use it for crepes. <grin> ... show more

  • Scanpans are #1 in my book!
Style: Classic Size: 10" Crepe Pan
I had read reviews on Scanpans so I finally bought one and tried it. These pans are just amazing. You can cook anything in them and then just wipe them out with a paper towel and they are clean. If something really sticks (for instance if you forget something and it really burns) you can use Barkeepers Friend on it and it will be fine. I'm in Culinary School and we did crepes on lab and loved them so I bought this pan for home use. This past Easter Sunday I used it to make crepes with strawberries and blackberries. I did easily a dozen crepes, not one stuck at all and when finished I wiped it out with a paper towel and it looked new again. Another great thing about Scanpans is that they come with a lifetime warranty. If anything ever goes bad with the pan you simply send it back to the factory and they mail you another one! This crepe pan has the "Classic" handle which is a plastic material but it can withstand temps to 500 degrees so it can even go in the oven but my other Scanpans are the "Professional" line which have stainless steel handles. Same great titanium/ceramic hybrid interior but just nicer looking handles. I have not tried the CTX line as of yet. ... show more

  • Simply Outstanding
Style: Classic Size: 10" Crepe Pan
In addition to having an environmentally-friendly nonstick surface, this pan is oven safe to 500F, and apparently has a fairly durable cooking surface, as well. To welcome my daughter home from a high school trip to Europe on which she enjoyed many crepes, I purchased this pan, a pack of spreaders, an olive wood spatula, and a six-pack of natural crepe mix. (Having never made crepes before, I wanted to make my task an easy one.) I am an experienced and creative cook, and I value fine cookware and useful utensils. The spreaders that I bought didn't work nearly as well as I wanted them to. Perhaps more practice is required. However, I was able to make GORGEOUS crepes, just by tilting the pan. I found the perfect flame setting on the stove, and made a very enjoyable first-ever batch of crepes. My daughter was also successful when she tried her hand at it. My olive wood spatula has not yet arrived, so I used a KitchenAid flexible silicone spatula to lift these crepes. It worked quite well. Overall, the pan was sensational. I seasoned it with a bit of Canola oil before making the first 2-3 crepes. After that, once I'd found the perfect temperature, I did not put any more oil into the pan. I am delighted with my purchase, and would recommend this pan to anyone who wishes to have hassle-free success making crepes - even for the first time! Enjoy! • Well Made Pan, Safe, and Truly Non-Stick
Style: Classic Size: 10" Crepe Pan
After searching and testing various pans for safety, heat distribution, quality craftsmanship and non stick performance (Including enameled cast iron, and even 100% Ceramic Pans), I ended up with this one. It is made in Denmark. It is Green-Tek (Environmentally friendly, free of PFOA) and the non-stick coating is a mixture of ceramic and titanium (not flaky Teflon). The core is Aluminum which is a great metal for fast and even distribution of heat. The company says the surface is scratch resistant, but I tend to use plastic utensils when turning my crepes so I wouldn't know how scratch proof it really is. Overall a very solid feel and great craftsmanship. I have no complaints about this pan and recommend it to anyone who wants to make near perfect crepes, eggs, and other similar "sticky" products easily and quickly. Clean up is a breeze. ... show more

  • brittle handle
Style: Classic Size: 10" Crepe Pan
This would have been a five star review two hours ago, but after two years of service and countless crepes, with many more years of potential use, it hit the tile floor at exactly the wrong angle, shattering the handle into five pieces Their warranty doesn't cover accidents, which should not be not a big deal, because if replacing the handle were as simple as it is on, say, a five dollar farberware pot, I could just unscrew the broken handle and screw in a beautiful wooden handle of my own design. However, they fuse the handle to the pan, and there is no easy way to replace a broken handle. Very annoying, because the pan itself is still great, and if I could find a use for the old pan, I'd just buy a new one, but I can't give it to goodwill (they will just think its a broken and worthless pan), so rather than waste it, I am stuck with a broken pan. I love the pan, but I wish they had designed it a bit better (at least give people like me an easy avenue for replacing the handle), and I may come to slowly hate it, as I am constantly confronted with evidence of my clumsiness. So, if Scanpan is reading this, please redesign your pan with a replaceable handle; if someone else is reading this, this pan will produce great crepes, but do be extremely careful -- the pan might last for ever, but the handle has design and engineering flaws. ... show more
