We've been using this bike rack for a few months now and are very pleased with how easy it is to get the bikes on and off. My husband and I like to mountain bike. We can load our bikes and be ready to go in less than 5 minutes. I like that the bikes are separated from each other, though having a dropper seat post on my bike does help keep my seat from bumping into the handlebars of my husband's bike. I've pretty much been leaving the rack on the car all the time. It's a little bit of a bother having the rack on while loading groceries into the back of the minivan, but easier than taking the rack on and off each time. My only disappointment is that when the bikes are loaded, we cannot open the back liftgate door of our 2004 Toyota Sienna all the way, even with the rack tilted down. At least with this system, it's not hard to take the bikes off if we really need full access to the back of the van. Now that we don't have to deal with trying to lift a heavy bike and thread the bike frame onto bike rack posts and we don't have to worry about putting muddy bikes in the back of the van, we can go biking more often!

I love this Bike Rack. It holds two e-bikes securely in place. I can quick mount them and take them back off. There is some side to side wobble which worried my wife, but otherwise everything seems secure. I like that there are two cables that I can run through the frames and lock the bikes securely in place. My only complaint is that I feel like the cables could have been a half foot longer. I have just enough to go through my larger cruiser bike with none to spare. But I would highly recommend this bike rack.

I can't tell you whether this bike rack is good or not, because after getting it mostly on my car I discovered that one of the wheel trays which get put on at the end was defective. Amazon told me that to deal with a defective part I should contact the manufacturer, Saris, and even linked me to the website. I had an e-mail back and forth with Saris, and they refused to help me, stating that I had gotten it from an "unauthorized seller" so the warranty was not valid. I told that they made a defective piece and that I just wanted that replaced (it's a $20 part on a $500 plus bike rack). They refused. After that back and forth, I spent time on a back and forth with Amazon, and was finally connected with a real person, who genuinely tried to help me, but could only offer to have me take the whole bike rack off my car, package it up and return it, and then they would refund my money or send me another one. I guess I will just break down and buy the $20 part, but somehow this seems like a bit of a racket--Saris can make defective merchandise and not be held responsible? And then why does Amazon tell you to go to the manufacturer if they can't be held responsible? Frustrating.

When it arrived, I expected to spend about 1.5 hrs assembling it... but there's 2 bolts and that's really it. It comes basically fully assembled and is super easy to take on and off my truck and it's loads/unloads bikes quickly and tilts out of the way effectively. It's pretty much perfect. The only thing that could make it better would be a welded on loop on the main frame that I could run a cable lock thru to secure it to my hitch (so someone couldn't just unbolt the main piece and walk off with it) and the ability to extend it and add another 2 bike rack would be cool. Definitely a great buy!

This is a nice and reasonably heavy duty bike rack that is easy to use, holds the bicycles firmly and doesn't rub on the bike frame. I give it 4 stars for all that. As a minor comment, I would have preferred the choice of a real 2" hitch rather than a 1 1/4" bar with an aluminum sleeve that makes it fit a 2" hitch receiver as I think I would get less wobble while driving. No stars off for this though - I get that it makes it more versatile and a little lighter. Now - for a MAJOR gripe and one star off. Pregripe note - .. Important ... please firmly get that as a way to carry a bike - I like it. Now for one star off. My major complaint is the laughable pretense that this thing provides any security at all with its cheap locks and easy disassembly. Honestly, Saris - what a design flaw. You went to the trouble of providing reasonably thick integral security cables and a nice design, however they plug into this flimsy lock you could drill out with a battery driven drill/driver in 5 seconds. Same for the lock on the hitch pin. More egregious from a security standpoint is that the receiver assembly attaches to the rack itself with two easily accessible allen bolts which don't lock. With two guys, an electric drill/socket driver, an allen wrench and little practice, you could remove the rack with essentially no noise in under 10 seconds, throw the bikes, still in the rack, in the back of a pickup and be gone in under 30 seconds. My suggestion to buyers is that if you are riding anything better than a Walmart special, go get a 10 foot long quality cable motorcycle lock (chain would be better) and run it through one of the holes on your hitch where the safety chain would typically go and use that to secure the bikes. Not perfect but defeating it is tougher/noisier/more visible.

So after weeks of research and debate between Saris Superclamp, Thule pro 2 and Yakima DR, I ended up picking Saris for its price and good reviews. Here is the break down: Cons: - my wheel tray broke off during first use. Happened when I tried to push down the wheel clamp for one extra click... see pics Amazon couldn't do anything so I turned to Saris. They promptly sent a replacement and told me the issue could be that my order was opened box item. Anyways, I didn't want to pack up everything or pay more for other racks so I will give it one more try. - hitch locking pin reqs wrench or it will wobble like crazy - locking cables are short so it might not fit some bikes Pros: - Price, you can find one under $400. Ducks recently sold them for $350 - Easy to install and store - lightweight - bottle opener - tilting mechanism for cargo door

THE BEST bike rack, hands down. I have 2 other racks—a regular hitch rack and a (Saris) trunk rack—both with the usual 2-arm set up. The geometry (top tube/down tube/seat tube) of my mountain bikes make them difficult to use though so I decided to go with a tray style rack. I researched others and the Saris Superclamp was roughly half the price and half the weight as the other ‘name brand’ racks. It came in 2 parts, was super easy to install, and even easier to put my bike on. The best part, it has 2 clamps that only touch your tires (so no more scratched frames), and, the built-in cables to lock your bike to the rack.

Update - After using this rack for a year, the inner spring on one arm pushed the levers out so the arm wouldn't lock in place. I used velcro straps to hold the arm up, running the strap through the bike frame. Saris customer service was abysmal since I bought through Amazon. A dealer that carries Saris brand moved into my city, but couldn't help me (according to Saris) since I didn't purchase from them. I sent pictures of the messed up spring to Saris, who then said that it wasn't covered under warranty and I would have to purchase it. Mind you, the bike rack consists of 3 pieces. I went round and round via email with this person. I finally gave up and spoke to someone by phone. A different person than the one I had been dealing with immediately sent me out a replacement arm. Under warranty. Now, another year later, the lock cylinder for the cables has come out and I can't get it to stay in. The very next day, the replacement arm's lever mechanism has loosened up and doesn't engage half the time. I will be replacing the rack with a different brand. I had sold my first bike and bought a 52 pound e-bike, far below the weight limit. I don't trust the rack to stay together. Original review - This rack is rated for two 60 pound bikes. I use it in my 1.25" receiver to carry my Aventon Aventure. My bike weighs 72 pounds per the website. I have a 4 pound Abus lock, two racks (front and rear), a trunk bag filled with a Kryptonite lock and cables, mirrors, etc on the bike. I remove the battery to lighten the load by 7 pounds, but the bike probably still weighs at least 70 pounds, and this rack handles it like a champ! I did get the optional fat tire holders to place closest to the vehicle. The heaviest bike of the two should be placed near the bumper. I don't usually use the tilt option, but it handles the weight well. I'm quite impressed the rack is that secure on a small receiver. I accidently turned into a steep downhill drive that had washed out, and the loaded rack swayed, but did fine. This rack doesn't have a ramp for walking the bike up, but I've found that I can lift the bike's front half up using both hands, and then the rear. The fat tire holders help there, too. The bike is balanced, even while unsecured. I had noticed that the arm that holds the back half of my bike had the paint rubbed off in one spot from the kickstand being so far back on the frame. I keep the kickstand down now while the bike is on the rack. A little touch up paint to the arm, and no further problem. The cable locks aren't something I would depend on with an expensive bike. If I leave the bike for a short time unattended, I use a Kryptonite lock and a thicker cable wound around the rack and bike. But for securing garage sale or estate sale bargain bikes that you weren't expecting to be hauling, the rack cables are sufficient to impede theft a little bit. Yes, I have a "bike collection" problem and do that often. I highly recommend this bike rack for its strength and ease of use.
