Based on many of the previous reviews, I agree it gets a bit hot to the touch. Time will tell how long it'll last. The USB connector is a little tight, but helps in my vehicles over bump roads. Speed is not a big issue. Only takes about 3 seconds to transfer a CD worth of music. Using them to store my huge, ripped CD collection to playout in my newer vehicles. Would I use these to store music as an archive device? Never! All flash drives have a finite life span. Hey! I like them because they're made of heavy metal. I liked that this product is great for doing backups on your computer and it’s small, and of course very affordable compared to the other backups in the market. This SanDisk 512GB device is quite small and fast. It is not blazingly fast but faster than any traditional drive in its class due to being 3.2 Gen 1 rather than 3.1. My only challenge was that for some reason some devices were a bit more finicky in making a true connection. In those cases, I had to reseat the drive and no problems. If not for this, I would give five stars. Price, size, looks, speed, and capacity all are amazing when one consider a few years ago this may have cost (equivalent) to 3-4 times as much. Bought this because I was preparing a large drive to share with family members and I come from a large family, so lots of drives to copy. The peak rate was very good (as high as 100 MB/s write), but the product was entirely inconsistent popping up and down with average rates of perhaps 5-20 MB/s if we're being generous. If you're not writing a lot to this all at once then, who cares, it's fine. But in my case I was copying 200 GB and the difference between 1 hour and 3 hours was significant. I was also using some Samsung USB 3.1 BAR Plus products which were slightly more expensive, but they worked a lot better. In that case, the write speeds were consistent and on the order of 40 MB/sec. It made a huge difference. So while the product was okay, I will spend the extra few bucks and go for Samsung for at least the next year or two when given the choice. ... show more
