  • Very tight fit in USB ports compared to any other thumb drive I've ever tried
Size: 256GB
As soon as I tried this SanDisk Ultra Luxe thumb drive, I noticed that it was a really, really tight fit in any of the front USB ports on my Dell PC. So got out the caliper. The photos I posted show what may be the reason why it is so tight: the 'gap' that measures slightly more than 2mm on other thumb drives is only 1.76 on this Ultra Luxe. That isn't much, but it's noticeable in my closeup photo. Also, the corners have practically no radius (unlike the Sandisk UltraFlair shown in the photos) I asked on Amazon if anyone else had the same problem, and I got two affirmative answers. I got this from 'Amazon Warehouse Deals' so maybe it was originally returned because it is so tight. 9/21/20 UPDATE: This drive is so tight in my iMac that the drag on the metal USB port opening is wearing grooves into the shell that can be felt with thumbnail. I'm returning it. ... show more

  • sleek and slim, but gets hot and performance is so-so
Size: 256GB
I've been waiting til prices came down a bit to purchase a 256GB flash drive, and as you can get some decent 3.0/3.1 drives from reputable companies, I found this one from one of my most trusted brands, Sandisk. the pros: - looks very nice - tiny the cons: - tiny (easy to lose) - gets very hot when in use - performance is so-so (was hoping for better sustained transfer rates - the sandisk 128GB 3.0 flash drive I have has better transfer rates) ... show more

  • Read/Write Slow After a Few Transfers
Size: 128GB
I was getting 30-50MB/s initially, but after about the third large transfer speeds are below 10MB/s, sometimes in the KB/s range. No point in a 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive when transfer speeds are below USB 2.0 specficiations. Ports are fine, drivers are fine - external Seagate HDD trasnfered at max USB 3.0 spec. Samsung Flash Drive maintain 30-70MB/s transfer. I regret this purchase. ... show more

  • It’s good but I’m not completely sold
Size: 128GB
Out of the box the drive is impressive in its form but immediately upon install a couple of things were concerning. In the minimal instruction sheet they make a big deal about using their protection software. On OS X 10.15.1 the program is uninstallable. It is completely safe to mount it without the software and fairly quick when copying media files. It is VERY hot to the touch. I use in in a studio to transfer music files and it does the work but it is tiny and not something I would attempt to put on a keychain, especially as the connected is not covered. So....it does a decent job of file transfers but I’d never leave it in a USB port as I’ve done with other thumb drives. This makes it less than ideal for my uses but not enough to rule it out. It’s just a pain in the neck mounting and unmounting the thing. From a functional standpoint the heat concerns me. The drive is hot enough to be concerning as to it’s longevity, something that can lead to serious issues later on. And it’s a bit disconcerting when it makes its software sound like a dealbreaker if not installed. It isn’t. For my use it’s a 3.5 trending towards a 4.0 as it works. It does leave room for stability concerns. Heat is a major problem in every other electronic device I am familiar with beyond a few 1990’s power amps. But it is getting the job done, just not as I would prefer it. ... show more

  • TOO HOT & TOO SLOOOOOW
Size: 256GB
Too hot and too slow.

  • Hot, Hot, Hot
Size: 32GB
This drive runs so hot it's hard to touch. It gets hot while in use, as well as even when idle. The "luxe" look may look nice, but doesn't do anything to make this flaw any better, in fact it adds to it. If there was some kind of casing to hold onto instead of the plain metal body, it might be able to be better handled. As far as I'm concerned, this negates any performance aspects of this drive. ... show more

  • Write speed is TOO SLOW!
Size: 32GB
Try to write in a big file, at first the speed is around 33MB/s, and then drops to 17 MB/s. Too slow.
