  • Excellent storage device
Capacity: 8 TB
The ability to store large volumes of data packets, when requested doing a query search unable to do research get the information that I have available to me on my local storage device with almost 0 lag. That’s what we pay for on local storage best money I’ve spent so far.

  • Samsung 8 TB SSD
Capacity: 8 TB
I needed a big 8 TB drive for an Aurender Music Streamer. Wasn’t many options in the 8 TB arena, but I already owned a 4TB version of this drive which pretty much got filled up with my music files. Never had any problems with the 4 TB so I decided to get this 8 TB version. I anxiously awaited it’s delivery and 4 days later it was here. I carefully unboxed it and prepped my machine for the swap. Once installed the machine reported 7.5 TB! Then the machine prompted me to format the drive which I did and within minutes it was ready to go. I checked the available space and found 7.1 TB useable storage. It works seamlessly with the Aurender, no issues at all. The 8 TB drive I thought I bought, formatted to 7.1 TB! I realize in all drives you don’t get the stated amount of storage, but to loose almost 1 TB of storage is crazy! I love the product, but it’s really disappointing to find you spend $800+ on a drive and find out the 8TB drive I purchased is really a 7.5 TB drive! ... show more

  • Research your application before mounting!
Capacity: 8 TB
Awesome product; estimated 170 years+ of usage. This is the last drive you'll need. Know what you're going to use it for though before you begin file transfer. It's NOT a typical drive. It IS a little... temper-mental.

  • These SSDs are region restricted.
Capacity: 8 TB
I'm in the USA. When I tried to register the SSDs I received for the warranty, I found out they were region restricted for sale in Korea only which, according to Samsung, means the warranty is voided. I have returned them.

  • Excellent large drive. Uses a SATA connection, not USB, but a cable quickly fixed that
Capacity: 8 TB
I needed a larger backup drive as my 4TB drive was filling up. This was the best 8TB drive I could find. I really needed a USB connection, but this drive had a SATA connection. Fortunately, I was able to find a cable on Amazon that made that work. The cable was quite cheap. The drive works great. Lots of space and quite fast. My backup software (IDrive) thinks it's just fine. It's not quite as fast as smaller drives as it uses QLC technology and is slower especially on large writes, but as I'm using it for backup and not something like gaming, it's great. Update: After a couple of weeks, the cable started having intermittent failures (like every minute or so). So I got an external enclosure for a SATA drive to a USB C port. Everything has been fine now for over a month. Update: 6 months later in March 2023. The drive basically just quite working. I'm having to replace it. I was using it as a local backup drive, so I haven't lost anything, but it's very annoying. I should have realized it sooner, but the symptoms didn't click. For the last couple of months, my PC has been apparently running very slowly. I finally noticed the drive was totally dead, when I tried to run a backup to it, and it was reported as offline. The drive would appear in the drive list, but any attempt to look at the contents or properties would loop indefinitely until I unplugged the drive. Other work immediately sped up, so I surmise the drive's lack of response was getting in the way of other processes. Update: April 2023. Samsung support is marvelous. They had me ship the drive back for service. They decided it was unfixable and offered to refund the money I'd spent on the drive. That arrived several days later via ACH (one of three choices they offered - ACH, ZELLE, paper check. The only downside is that their communication was poor. They did not notify me they had found the drive unfixable. I had to contact support again because the link I had been given for my first report was inactive. Support told me that they had declared the drive unfixable and had assigned a new support ticket. That ticket never got updated either. I had to contact support a third time to find out about a new ticket dealing with my refund. In each case the support people were very helpful. I just shouldn't have had to go through that. ... show more

  • Very Slow
Capacity: 8 TB
Just a typical copy and paste from one M.2 SSD Gen 4 to this granted was about 500 GB in size took about a hour give or take with an ASUS ROG Strix Z690 using SATA. The M.2 was external but it was connected via thunderbolt so I figured it would be faster than that, speeds varied between 3-4MB/s all the way up to 812 MB/s a steady 812 MB/s would’ve been nice but it hit that only for a few seconds at the start of the transfer. The average was about 98 MB/s but boy was it all over the place I don’t know why but it would not stay at a steady write speed it’s like GPS saying you’ll arrive at such and such and doesn’t accommodate for traffic so you end up 20 minutes late. Do not buy for speed definitely just use this for mass storage. ... show more
