- we used it as instructed by the manual, and we were able to raise a couple of baby chickens - however do be careful with the moisture content, it becomes dry quickly, we had to add a warm paper towel on top, the shell was a little too hard

This is a great little starter incubator. I had a 100% hatch. I placed 2 turkey eggs and delayed placing 10 chicken eggs by 7 days so they would all hatch around the same time. The reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because of how hard it was to control the humidity. It has 2 ventilation holes in the bottom. I had to make two holes on the top to keep the humidity down during the first 18 days. I also used the holes to stick a hydrometer in it to monitor the humidity. I placed a piece of duck tape over each hole and removed it when needed as a way to control humidity. That worked great. The last 3 days- I left the holes open and poured as much water as the incubator would hold to raise the humidity and keep the oxygen level high. It worked great. Another reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the display screen ended up with water beads. I kept the Styrofoam bottom and cover on it during the whole incubation period. Overall, I would recommend this. It's small, cute, and with close monitoring- it works. I ended up with 2 turkeys, 6 Polish chicks, and 4 Wyandottes chicks.

This was an impulse buy after we suddenly lost our precious rooster to a hawk. We wanted to see if we could get some of his chicks and hopefully end up with another rooster as well. We had 8 fertilized eggs, and all 8 hatched just fine. As long as you closely follow instructions and put water in the bottom every 3 days, it should work just fine. We also kept the Styrofoam on ours until the eggs started hatching. The eggs all hatched across 3 days, and I would quickly pull the chicks out once they were dry, and spray water on the unmatched eggs. I definitely recommend this!

This incubator comes with everything needed to get started except fertilized eggs. When set up inside the styrofoam it quickly came up to temperature and humidity, rotating the eggs on a timer. The water bottle holder is nice, except the connection from the tube to the incubator is not secure so bumping the bottle holder may cause the hose to come out of the incubator. Messy but not bad if caught before the humidity drops too far. The candling led works well and is bright enough. The styrofoam doesn’t have a good way to deal with the power cord, and unplugging the power cord to take the styrofoam off so the lid can be removed so the eggs can be checked is annoying, particularly since it resets the motor and forces an egg movement. Not a deal breaker but I wish there were a better way.

I tried following the incubator instructions but with eggs in, the water under the Incubator floor is hard to see… especially when trying not to open too much and after lockdown days. Ended up with chicks shrink wrapped in the shell… humidity is so important. This incubator just having a humidity alarm turned out to be not enough information for me. I felt uncertain about the humidity. Temperature always displayed what I had set it to be. Only twice did the temperature alarm go off, when starting up the eggs, and at the end when removing chicks. Most eggs didn’t hatch. Returned, as I’m not willing to risk chick lives and won’t use this model again.

This was a lot bigger than I was expecting, but that is my bad. It does say it holds 20 chicken eggs. We raise free range chickens for their eggs. This year we got two roosters and are now ready to incubate our own eggs instead of buying chicks. We have several different incubators going at any given time. Down the road we plan on doing the same for ducks and quails, this machine will be perfect for that. What I like about this one: Size Automatically turns and rotates the eggs Continually shows the temperature and humidity in the case Will illuminate the eggs to see progress. You have the ability to add water/moisture externally so you do not lose all of the moisture as in other incubators when you open the lid to add water. This incubator is perfect for my intended use.
