DO NOT BUY THIS. I never write reviews but this product is horrible and I don't want anyone to make the same mistake. I have been trying for two weeks now to set the clock so that the coop door can work. I've followed all of the directions and I can't get the stupid thing to work. The door keeps closing randomly when plugged in and as soon as it closes it immediately opens again. There are no FAQ in the manual. It is so frustrating. The door arrived promptly, well packaged, and in great condition. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. My coop opening was a little too big, so I had to add some wood to the frame, in order to attach the door. All worked well, until it rained. I think the added wood expanded a bit when wet, and the door wouldn’t close because the track was pushed a little out of alignment and not completely straight. All it took to fix was to loosen a couple of the screws to ensure that the track was not bending with the wet (warped) would. At first I used the setting that allows the door to open and close according to the light level at dawn and dusk. However my chickens didn’t quite put themselves to bed in time, and were locked out the first night. So I switched to the setting that allows me to set the time for opening and closing, which works perfectly. I’m very pleased, and can feel confident that my girls are locked away safe from predators, even if I’m not home by dusk. ... show more

    • Stopped working but figured out a fix
Like several of the other reviews, my door stopped closing after about 2 months. It would try to close and then reopen immediately afterwards. We took it off and found that it had tiny silver magnets attached to the back of the door that trigger the gear to stop when opening and closing. One had fallen out near the bottom. Through trial and error, we found a magnet that would work, super glued it on, and the door is once again working properly. ... show more

It’s difficult to program, and often the chips inside the coop get into the path of the door and keep it from closing at night. Very little I can do about about it.

We have had the door on for less than a month & it worked great at first (after FINALLY figuring out how to install it) but now it will not stay open. We have done every possible troubleshooting we could find and it still will not stay open. Wish it wasn’t outside the return window. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! ... show more

    • Just spend the money on the expensive one.
I purchased this door last May. I knew it was a gamble, as I'm in MN and winters are brutal. The door definitely is not made for cold weather. It stopped working when temps got freezing. I thought it would ve back this spring, but it's officially a goner. We got a few good months out of it, and I have now upgraded to the one I knew I should have gotten from the beginning. So.
