I've used all kinds of rollers and nothing compares to the Rumble Roller. The circumference is not as wide as other rollers; but the bumps are denser, and they are raised moreso than with other rollers. This alone allows for a better self myofascial experience than your standard roller.

This roller is amazing! Needed a small roller to take with me to a jiu jitsu tournament and bought this based on the reviews. It's thinner than other foam rollers (about 1" in diameter). It looks even thinner because the bumps make up about 1/4 to 1/3 of it's overall diameter. The smaller diameter does makes it easier to pick up and hold. I use it basically as a massager. Anytime I have kinks in my back and neck from sitting at my desk for work or training, I use this to get them out. Just yesterday I had a kink in my neck I couldn't get out, even with the roller. I was about to call the chiropractor, until I figured out a way to use the roller to essentially knead out the kink. It saved me a $100. The blue one is still pretty firm (too firm for my wife), but it has enough give for me. It will hurt when you first use it, but your body eventually gets used to it. Might eventually get the full sized one since some of the massages are hard to do on this one. This is, however, a lot more portable and can easily fit into full size backpack without taking up too much room. You can't go wrong getting this roller!

This product overall is fantastic to take on the go and really get the knots out. The only thing I must say is if you are a person who has a good amount of muscle throughout your body, I would recommend purchasing the Extra Firm Rumble Roller. The ONLY reason that I personally gave them 4 stars is because of this, otherwise this product definitely gets 5 stars. I will be giving this one away to someone who is in the beginner or intermediate stages of fitness and I will purchase the half sized extra firm for myself.

This is one of the best purchases I've made this year, hands down. I reviewed nearly a dozen foam rollers with similar features, and the personal recommendations for this product beat them all out. If you're new to foam rolling (like I was), definitely go with the blue original, as the black will be much too firm for beginners. I use it to loosen my muscles prior to lifting weights, especially in my legs, and then spend another 15-20 minutes after the workout to increase blood flow and reduce the build up of lactic acid in my muscles. I've seen a dramatic improvement in my recovery time. It will definitely be uncomfortable the first few times you use it, but if you follow the included directions, it really becomes an enjoyable experience after a few days. Slowly roll the Rumble Roller throughout your muscles, and if you come to a tight spot, just let it rest there. Sure enough, after 20 seconds or so, you can feel the tension in that area dissipate, and you can continue to another area. The Half Size is also great for releasing built up tension in your neck after sitting at the desk all day. I highly recommend this product to anyone thinking of purchasing a foam roller!
