Every so often you buy something that deserves 10 stars. This is one of those times. This garbage can is one of the best purchases I've made in recent times. It has a butterfly lid opening which allows me to store the can flush against my cabinet, under the counter's overhang. I couldn't do that with my previous bin because the lid would be obstructed by the counter. The dimensions of the can are perfect. 13 gallon bags fit snugly but not too tight. It opens with a manual foot pedal. No need for batteries or to have it close to an outlet for power. It's well built and very sturdy. I have a hard time moving it, so I imagine it would be difficult to overturn for pets or children. This can makes it easy to change out bags with its double bin design. Just lift the interior bin out of the can, rest it on the pedestal inside and change the bag. So simple. Lastly, it's super sleek looking and modern. Having it out on display in my kitchen is not an issue. Highly recommend!!

Much nicer and cheaper than comparable simple human can. Unfortunately only seems to be available on Amazon. This arrived in perfect condition, shipped in really sturdy reinforced box within box packaging. I was looking at the simple human butterfly cans for a while, but years ago I ordered a small one and the “wings” of the lid didn’t align properly (probably because of the choice to design them with a curve, but packaging/shipping also seems to be an issue there.) The lid on this can is flat, aligns perfectly, stays open if you engage the lock, and closes smoothly. Other pros: With the lid open the height of the can is just under 31”, so it would fit under the lip of even a shorter-than-average countertop for sweeping crumbs etc directly into the trash. The liner is easy to remove because you can lock the lid open (don’t have to keep foot on pedal) and the lid “wings” are completely clear of the space. Liner has holes near rim that help stop that annoying thing where trash bag balloons out. The color is a dark grey, for both the steel and plastic, so is much easier for the eye to ignore than bright stainless/black plastic of other cans.

Two weeks ago I thought the only thing a trashcan had to do was hold trash and possibly provide a lid to keep smells at bay. So when the foot pedal on my 25 year old can broke and my wife asked me to "research" a replacement I rolled my eyes. Well, a few hours of digging and parting with more money than I thought was reasonable, I bought this sucker and frankly I'm shocked at how happy I am. The outer can is fairly heavy and stays in place regardless of an impatient teenager may do. The inner can is nice and light so pulling it out to change the bag is simple (or so my wife tells me, that's one chore I seem to avoid with regularity). My only complaint is that the soft close works a little too well and, as you can see from my video, the lid takes its sweet time to go down. Maybe that means it'll last for years? We'll see.

Pricey but the alternative was pulling it out all the time. So pretty. The butterfly opening made it perfect for under the counter where I removed a compactor and its too narrow for a cabinet. Its perfect for the space. Removable insert with a hole so the bag doesn't suck into it and get stuck. Really quality thickness. Im glad I paid for it because anything else looks trashy there.

Is a $150 trash can ridiculous? Probably. Is this exactly what I wanted? Yes, so I'm still very happy with this purchase. I moved into a home with a small kitchen and knew that I wanted a trashcan that would match the finish of the existing appliances, be slim enough to fit in a specific corner, and not open on the side because trash would be coming in from the front. I know this is slightly ocd, but I also hate the look of the trash bag peeking under lids. Well, this checked all the boxes-- the specific charcoal (not black or stainless steel) finish, lids butterfly open from the top, slim and sleek design, and the trash bag is always hidden when closed. I'm not 100% if it's smudge proof, mostly because I almost never have a reason to touch the outside of the trashcan itself. It arrived a bit early with no dents. Recommend.

I'm giving this trash can five stars because I do love it. It's made well, looks great, easy to clean. The only negative, which is on me, is that I thought the lock was referring to a child lock. There is no child lock on this trash can. The lock is to keep the trash can open, not closed. But it's still a great product.
