I was unsure about the look of these cans, but now that everything is set up and functioning, we love it. Especially for smaller children, having the labels on them is super helpful. ur issue was having the recycles in small bags that would add up and clutter the floor, or have to be taken out daily, these 23 gallon cans really solve the clutter issue. For the garbage, we had the largest simple human can and it was wonderful. However, having both the garbage and recycle in the same sized cans and attached with wheels where you can just easily move them to clean under and around them is a game changer. BTW, the simple human bags size code Y, fit them perfect, so we are using those for the garbage side. I've always liked the thickness of Simple Human bags and we are not at a loss by using a different can. You do have to pull it to get it around the top of the can but that's a plus as it is nice and tight, where it will stay in place. We used the closing lid for the garbage as well to keep the potential garbage smell at bay...not sure the other would be as effective in that way, but having the flaps works GREAT for recycling! ... show more

Expensive cover for your slim jim trash can. That being said it fits over the can very well when you have a trash bag in the container. Its very sturdy and should last a lifetime. I think this is a better choice than the lids that swing. I saw a lot of bad reviews for the swinging lids, which turned my decision this way. It definitely keep the smell down. UPDATE: November 2015 I've been using this lid with the Slim Jim trash can for more than a year now. The lid is still tight fitting but I have found a secret to getting it off a bit more easily. Grab the back by the hinges and pull up and to the side then you can pull the front up and off very easily. It sounds like it's going to break but it hasn't so far! I change the bag at least once a week. Love it now that I can take it off. End of update: This is a great lid. It is very, very well made. The hinges seem to be super heavy duty. I really like that I can swing this lid all the way open and to the back of the Slim Jim trash can. Much better than a pop up lid. Now to the "...but..." this lid has a super tight grip on the can which is great for keeping the bag in place and for not falling off if the can should get knocked over for any reason but, it is hard to get off for changing the bag. Maybe there is a secret that I am unaware of, I just know that every time I try to get this lid off it is a struggle. I thought I found a trick but it didn't work for me this week. That being said, I would buy this lid again. It does a good job of keeping trash odors in and keeping the bag in place. One other thing, the measurements in the descriptions seemed confusing when compared to the measurements of the Slim Jim can, I called Rubbermaid, they assured me that this was the correct lid. The lid fits to the outer edges of the Slim Jim. It also has 2 half circles that go on the inside of the can to help keep it in place (you can see one of them in the picture.) ... show more

Bought this Rubbermaid lid for my hyper tough branded 23 gallon tall trashcan which did not come with a lid when I bought it at the store. Had been using cardboard or a thin piece of wood to cover the trash can when it was ripe. This lid is not exactly meant to fit however the measurements are very close. All I had to was modify my trashcan by cutting down a bit off one corner and the lid fits and functions perfectly. Much better alternative to trying to make my own lid. ... show more

This works great and is perfect keeping cans/bottles in the recycling bin. The lid even holds the bag in place which makes it perfect because that's a design flaw with the bin itself. Highly recommend this easy to clean, durable lid.

it fits the can I have and keeps my guests from mixing recycle and regular trash. i think it is overpriced for what it is but the market for this product is very small and they can charge what they want. since there are not a ton of options out there i had to go with this product, at least it is a solid useful item. not cheaply made. so that helps. ... show more
