  • It works and is affordable
Size: 16 Electrodes
Works like the unit on a cart in the PT office. My insurance would not pay for me to rent one, so my doc recommended that I buy this one on Amazon. It works great and is pretty easy to use.

  • Huge help for recovery / therapy!
Size: 16 Electrodes
I had a rotator cuff surgery / repair a few months ago and physical therapy was using a TENS unit as part of my therapy / recovery. I loved it, but didn't want something quite that fancy. I decided to try the Roscoe TENS/EMS 4-Channel and haven't looked back. It does everything their fancy machine did and does it well. I still use it from time to time to massage and help with flow in the calves after a 14 hour shift. I can't complain about a single thing with this machine, even the supplied pads lasted for months. Great machine and well worth the price. ... show more

  • I do not know if this is any better or worse than any other on the market
Size: 16 Electrodes
It came missing one of the leads, but customer service, after a while, worked it out.It works well and it’s very highly rated yet I cannot say whether it is any better or worse than anything else out there.

  • It is a good value
Size: 16 Electrodes
I gave only 4 stars because I only got some pain relief. I am 80 years old with 100% torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders. I am waiting for an orthoscopy surgery on one & a total reverse joint replacement on the other. i am in a lot of pain, maybe more that this great device will control. it has however made life more bearable while waiting for my surgeries. I have also owned their TENS 7000 unit for several years & it is good too. I recommend both units. ... show more

  • Random 2x power shocks every few minutes! AVOID!
Size: 16 Electrodes
I didn’t dig through the reviews enough before buying this, but after experiencing the issue myself, I went back and found many others reporting the same problem. (Check the 3-star and lower reviews.) This unit will randomly send out pulses that are about 2× stronger than the normal output every few minutes. At low settings it’s just uncomfortable, but at higher settings it can be quite painful and has even caused me a pulled muscle. To verify this, I connected an oscilloscope while using the unit. With the intensity set to 30 (50 Hz, 130 µs, N mode, electrodes ~3 inches apart on my forearm), the normal pulses measured about 24V. Every few minutes, there would be a spike up to ~47V—nearly double the intensity. The higher you set the device, the worse these spikes become. One additional safety concern: this device appears to use a monophasic (one-directional) pulse rather than properly balanced biphasic pulses. That means it is running a small pulsed DC current across the skin. Over time, DC current can drive electrochemical reactions at the electrodes causing local pH changes, skin irritation, and potentially minor chemical burns. Most modern TENS/EMS units use charge-balanced biphasic pulses specifically to avoid this, so this design is concerning for repeated or extended use. To be fair, the unit doesn’t explicitly claim to use biphasic output, but this is still something buyers should be aware of. ... show more

  • Complicated and challenging
Size: 16 Electrodes
A complicated unit that offers a lot of options, but is not intuitive and quickly easy to use. The instructions provided show the details of how to set up but little guidance on where to start for the settings, no guidance for placement of electrode pads, over two days I ended up searching online for more detailed manual downloads that had better directions, and watching multiple YouTube videos for setting up. But then when my spouse went to use the unit, the learning curve was too challenging, we ended up purchasing another tens unit with more presets, and wow, much more rewarding right away. So if you want a unit that has all kinds of options this is the one, but I hope you know how to use it. ... show more

  • I was shocked! Literally…
Size: 16 Electrodes
I read all the reviews about these massive occasional bursts and thought oh someone’s pads must be loose or they are new to TENS and somehow setting this off. Well, I’ve been using TENS since it was invented, and I have never had one do this. But these do indeed every few minutes give you one increased pulse in all the pads across all channels. It must be a design flaw. However, if it keeps working I will keep it because it is the only unit I can find that uses AA batteries. I just keep it turned a bit low and come to expect those shocks. I like having the four channels, but I must say, setting the thing takes a lot of figuring out; the extensive booklet is just a lot of filler and only 2 pages are useful—but not at all useful enough to explain setting the thing up for a treatment! I ended up just having to play with it until I figured out how it works to set it. Two days of playing with it, I have figured out how to keep each channel on TENS (vs. EMS which I do not like, I wanted TENS and microcurrent in one 4-channel machine but I guess it doesn’t exist) and set the intensity and time. The waveforms, etc., are all just too hard to figure out, so whatever waveform I get to come up first is what I use, SMH. I wish they would explain better. I’m not a physical therapist, just an RN! If you are squeamish about these intermittent shocks, do not buy this unit; they are real, sudden, and, well, shocking! ... show more
