We’ve had a series of Roomba products over the years and certainly the products - vacuums specifically - have gotten better over time. Sadly, their mop products have not, nor have their vacuum-mop combo products. Great price point, but mediocre performance. So we decided to try the very expensive RoboRock product and have been absolutely blown away by its performance. Mapping is an order of magnitude faster thanks to their highly effective sensor suite. Its ability to travel across carpets and modest thresholds (something that Roomba’s Braava series cannot) means that aside from picking up dog toys, vacuuming and mopping is a one button-push exercise. Emptying the bins, cleaning the mop heads and charging as needed requires no supervision. Other noteworthy differences: mopping is significantly better than Braava: 1) Its ability to clean mop heads means that it doesn’t just redistribute the dirt that it has already picked up; 2) Its ability to sense which direction the tile lines or wood floor seams run allows it to mop in the direction of the grain so to speak, so the floors look beautiful when done - tile and wood both. As far as vacuuming, it is about the same as the high-end Roomba self-emptying vacs. Its navigation around rooms is significantly better because its camera and Lidar-based sensors rarely seem to bump into furniture the way the Roomba products do (they use bump sensors). As mentioned in another review, setting the dock to clean the mop heads every 10 minutes. As well, I recommend vacuuming and mopping separately (you can set that up in the app), as it leaves the mop heads behind so as not to drag them across medium or high pile carpets. Battery life is quite good and while the app isn’t as intuitive as it could be, it is quite good once you figure it out. In summary: If you just want a good vacuum and maybe an occasional half-arsed mop, Roomba is a better way to go. If you want the whole (relatively expensive) combined system, I’ve not yet seen anything else that comes close. I haven’t had this long enough to speak to its reliability and will re-post if I learn anything different.

The media could not be loaded. I’m stunned by the how incredible the Saros 10R is. I’ve been a iRobot Roomba customer for twenty years, and stubbornly stayed in Roombaland much longer than I should’ve. I finally switched when my last Roomba, a once-top-of-the-line J9+ Combo, fell victim to a known charging base defect that, once broken, made recharging impossible and essentially bricked the unit. Because I was just a bit outside of warranty, iRobot wouldn’t replace my charging / mopping base and offered me $150- toward the cost of replacing it outright from them directly, which they were still selling at that time for another $1,400. I jumped ship, rage-ordered a Saros 10R on the spot, and have never looked back. I’ve owned it for the last month+ and am just gobsmacked by how much better a cleaning machine this Roborock is compared to all the other Roombas I’ve ever owned (numerous models over years). My floors have never been cleaner as the vacuuming and mopping technology this machine employs are exceedingly better than my last Roomba. It just … *works* … does what it’s supposed to, properly, when you expect it to. No more weird ‘I’m stuck’ errors or ‘I’m lost under the dining table / chairs *again* and can’t find my way out even though I’ve been here dozens and dozens of times before’ problems. No more VSLAM technology slowly chipping and scraping the hell out of my expensive walnut furniture. No more being afraid to let it run while I’m away from home because something would inevitably fail with whatever scheduled cleaning it was supposed to be running. This machine is incredible. It is solidly built. It is easy to use and set up. It quickly accurately and effortlessly mapped my home on its first mapping run. Its obstacle avoidance is superior to any other Roomba I’ve owned, and works flawlessly. It avoids bumping into any of my furniture as it is sensitive enough to get right up next to table / desk / sofa / chair / bed legs and clean around them without actually connecting or coming into contact with any of them. It’s just … well, I want to write ‘perfect’ but as nothing can be truly perfect I’ll just write I am at a loss to list anything I have a quibble with. Plus, it’s almost eerily quiet compared to my last Roomba. I can barely tell where it is in my house without looking at the app or scouting for it when it’s working unless it’s very nearby. My dog used to run out of any room my last Roomba entered, but now he just glances at the 10R and continues napping or playing or whatever without fear. My husband complained pretty frequently about how loud our last Roomba was, and I now joke to friends the Saros 10R practically saved our marriage because it’s so much quieter when it’s cleaning. My household is comprised of two adults, one pretty fluffy medium-haired cat, one small short-haired dog, no children, and mostly hard-surface flooring with low-to-medium-pile area rugs and runners in almost every room but the bathrooms. It is brand-new construction and so is without extreme-door-sill or room-threshold height challenges, but I’ve seen my Saros 10R navigate over low-furniture barriers like the base of my console and coffee tables without any difficulty whatsoever using the AdaptLift Chassis feature — that technology is pretty impressive. I love this thing. So much. If you’re a frustrated Roomba owner like I was, or looking to upgrade your Roborock, don’t hesitate — the Roborock Saros 10R … ROCKS. Ugh, sorry. I couldn’t resist.

I’ve been an irobot user for more than a decade, while they were pretty good during the “bumper car” robot era, lately their robots are disappointing to put it politely. Compared this to the irobot j9 max I had is like putting a school children against Mike Tyson, this destroys the irobot in every aspect, I am so glad that I jumped ship. While this is certainly an expensive purchase, I’d still say it’s worth it, because the robot vacuum has gotten so good that you are getting 70, 80% of the results of a human cleaner most of the time. Compared to the cost of hiring someone to vacuum and mop the floor for you on a regular basis, this is like fraction of the cost. What I like: 1. It just works, I keep forgetting it’s there because I almost never need to mess with it, except for topping up water and cleaner and dump out dirty water. 2. App works great, it’s easy to navigate, and easy to use, not clunky like the irobot app. All the functions do exactly what they say to do, and most importantly no connectivity issues. 3. Highly effective vacuuming and mopping on both carpet and hardwood floor, it does a good job getting to the corners and edges. Also there’s no hair tangles with cat hair and my gf’s long hair. 4. Incredible navigation, although pre cleaning is still recommended, pick up the obstacles, clean up the cables, and move the chairs, etc… you’d still get very acceptable results if you don’t. 5. Very effective obstacle avoidance, object recognition is not perfect but it’s right almost all the time. What I don’t like: 1. Non so far other than it’s pricy.
