  • READ THIS (Need to know)
Style: 27inches
Okay so a few things. The racks are awesome the way I put them on. The thing about these racks is you need to make sure that you tighten all of the bolts both inside the rack (Under the opening it's obvious) then also make sure you center it on the roof racks. If you do that you can go 100mph and these things will not move a peep. I have had them for about a month now and consistently test them to make sure theres no movement. I have a feeling the people who wrote negative reviews didn't know to do this and assumed it was manufacturing errors. Also the locks work perfectly for me no issues at all. Over all good product the reason for the 4 stars is I like full metal hardware and this was a lot of plastic (albeit durable) I still would like to have seen metal brackets. Like I said overall amazing for the price I'll be able to shred all through those cold new England winter's. ... show more

  • Difficult to lock when loaded
Style: 27inches
Used my Rhino Rack on my 2017 Explorer Sport for about 3 years now. While it's easy to install, it's been very frustrating to load/unload because the locking mechanism is under direct pressure from the latches when its loaded. When empty, the locking cylinder can rotate smoothly around the latch, but under any sort of load, the clamps naturally separate a bit, which makes the latch occupy the same space where the locking cylinder would normally rotate. The issue is compounded by the fact that the small key is the primary mechanical means of rotating the lock, so it's very difficult to get enough finger purchase on the key during cold and wet conditions. Our solution has been to get a second person to squeeze the clamps to ease the pressure on the locking cylinder allowing it to rotate around the latch, but it's s bit ridiculous that the mechanism was designed this way. If the rotating locking cylinder were connected to a handle instead of just relying on the tiny key, it would make it so much easier to actuate the lock and manipulate the boards/skis/clamps into place. If I could purchase another rack, I'd probably take a closer look at Thule or Yakima roof racks, really not a fan of this design. ... show more

  • Perfect roof rack mounted fishing rod/reel carrier!
Style: 13inches
These Rhino Rack Fishing Rod carriers are perfect for safely carrying your fishing rod/reel combo's. Quality build, attaches easily to existing roof rack crossbars with included hollow Allen wrench and locks for security! Just don't over tighten, some reviews had said they broke the plastic mounting tabs and the units were weak...follow the directions. Mine has carried rods/reels all over the New England region form the ocean to the mountains with ZERO issues...follow the install instructions...Rhino Rack writes them for a reason!!! I routinely carry 3ct. x 11' surf rods w/Penn Battle II 8000 reels or 5ct. x 6'-7' spinning/conventional rod/reel set ups. Even the big reels don't hit the roof as long as the reel handles are in the up position on my 08' Jeep Commander w/OEM roof racks. May not be the same with low profile roof rack crossbars??? Very secure locking mechanisms and if you place the reel and a guide in between the carriers the rods cannot be taken out unless you break something...they don't even slide or move...again very secure ... show more

  • Super disappointed for so many reasons
Style: 27inches
Super disappointed for so many reasons. I received a returned and used Rhino 576 carrier. Hardware bag ripped open from bottom. ALL security Keys missing. Five Nuts for the bottom brackets missing. Three Washers Missing. Two Bracket Bolts Missing. All hardware is over-torqued: Plastic bottom brackets BENT, Bolt threads scored, Heads of bolts stripped, All hardware for top Clamp excessively tightened. I'm leaving for my summer trip in two days- Exchange for a new Carrier would not help me at this point. I am sad because I do my research and friends I know are happy with their Rhino racks. I hope to hear back from customer service at some point soon. Tomorrow I am going to my hardware store to rig something so this will work. I have two doggo's in my vehicle and can not afford to keep my snowboard and fishing rods in the vehicle. I will provide photos to Rhino upon request. Signed, A most unhappy customer ... show more

  • Price is good. However, the bolts are not long enough, plastic brackets are cheap and the "fits 4" won't fit 4
Style: 20inches
Pros: Works well. Easy to install and use. Good rack for the money. Cons: 1. The bolts that come with it are too short for (I think) most vehicles. The crossbars on my Nissan Xterra and BMW x3 were too thick for the bolts. However, they are standard "M4" bolts and you can get longer ones at any hardware store. The bolts are about $1/pc and you need 8 of them. soooo add $8 and the hassle of going to the hardware store. 2. The plastic brackets used to bolt the rack to your crossbars are pretty flimsy/ weak. My guess is a few seasons and they will crack or break. These brackets are critical to the rack not falling off your vehicle, so when they break, the rack will be useless. The manufacturer should use a more sturdy plastic, or provide you some extras. 3. The "Fits four snowboards" version will not fit 4 adult (normal sized) snowboards. The max would be 2 boards and 2 sets of skis. Snowboards (side-by-side) are too wide to fit next to each other on this rack. ... show more

  • Inexpensive and easy to install. Great for my fishing rods.
Style: 10inches
I ordered this 10in one to haul fishing rods and reels. I havnt had it long enough for a full review however my initial feelings are good. The good: Inexpensive Easy install Locks Tamper proof mounting hardware Securely holds my rods and reels As advertized The bad: Mounting brackets are plastic and im curious how long they can hold up to the heat, cold and uv over time. I would have liked to see a billet al mounting bracket or even just a U bolt with a rubber coating. I would feel much more comfortable then. ... show more
