Very happy with how the actual color turned out. Very shiny and soft. The first time I used it; I followed instructions exactly as I changed brands. I would suggest NOT using a comb or brush - it flew everywhere!! With the other brand I just applied and worked it through my hair making sure to NOT rub it into my scalp. This time I only left it on for 15 minutes and it still got the nice, rich red color. Provides great coverage and all my grays are covered. I wash my hair every day with a red boosting shampoo, so it lasts about 6-8 weeks. If it fades more quickly due to wash, I use a red booster that I leave on for 5-10 minutes. I recently switched to coloring my own hair after 18 years at the salon. This blended well with the Redken products my stylist used and covered my stubborn white roots. The smell isn’t overwhelming like most box dye. Pictured is first time using and subsequent touch up. I left it on the roots for about 50 minutes but I gave hard to dye white hair. My ends badly need a trim. I have not had a problem with fading, but I only wash my hair every three days, so that helps.
