This is a commercial product built to be serviced. I've had it over 10 years. Light, small office use. It scans in color, prints in black and white. Fast startup to first page. The great thing about HP printers of this type is that the cartridge contains all the rollers to get the ink on the page. The fuser, the part that heats the page so that the toner sticks, is withing the printer, but can be replaced. In my case the fuser gave out (an internal sleeve finally wore out and tore). I got a secondary market fuser replacement with a few rollers for the paper pickups, and I have a like new printer. The machine is built to be serviced. Very cost effective. I downloaded the service manual from the net and put the fuser in myself. You really need the service manual to do this. There are only 8 screws to remove and reinstall, but there are hidden clips you wont know how to release unless you have the service manual. It has a really great feature that it can be programmed to upload scans directly to your computer. On the fron panel you select scan, destination, press a button and scans go directly into your computer. It takes some setup, a computer on your LAN needs to be set up to receive uploads, and you're set. You can direct the scan to one of a number of folders. This was very useful in my business. Get the additional feeder as part of the purchase. Each tray holds over a ream of paper, so you can print over a thousand pages before relaoding. You will have two trays and an additional manual feeder opening is present. There is a stapler which I found was a little fussy. It will send and receive faxes. It has other modes I never implemented in my office. This is an older printer. It is black and white. However, it is sturdy and can be maintained. The push scan is a great featuer in a small office using a scanned document model for workflow. Refurbished units are on the market for $700-$900.
