Use this to cook over my home made portable fire pit and really want to love it........BUT 1) The swing are was bent when I finally went to use it.........Fixable 2) WHY.......WHY......Is it rusting already after less than 2 weeks camping in Washington State during a dry spell. Don't know what the black coating on the metal parts is........But it ain't workin ... show more

I like that it’s small and packable. The updated metal wing nut is nicer that the plastic predecessor. Just be mindful that it’s a bit warm. Use a rubber mallet to stake in the ground on hard dirt, to avoid bending. Otherwise it pushes in easily.

    • Poor design and execution.
The welds are very crooked. The grate and griddle are too close to the pole. So you don’t get much clearance from the fire even when swung away from it. Pipe barely fits through the holes in the grate and griddle. They bind up and become unadjustable during use. Also when you try to adjust them the two piece pole comes apart. An absolute disaster. Look for a grate that extends on an arm over the fire, has a one piece pole, and doesn’t need screws to hold it onto the pole. The Stromberg grate is what I ended up getting. Great grill. It does what I wanted it to. But it's made in China and the O-rings on mine had spurs from the molding I needed to shave and file down so they would fit. Kind of annoying. Still couldn't file the 100% so the O-rings don't fit perfectly. If they did, this grill setup would be awesome! I love that I can adjust the height over the fire. That is so key! ... show more

    • Do not use a hammer to secure the post. Damaged and would not assemble.
Used a hammer to drive into dirt. Post mushroomed and would not accept the connection. Disappointed, had to pack it up and bring it home.
