  • great alternative to hair dye!
Color: Dark Brown Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
i have this clump of grey that really bugged me, so i tried the henna just on this one clump. it doesn’t magically dye the grey hair to dark brown/black like the rest of my hair, but it definitely made the greys blend in better with the rest of my hair. it also conditioned my hair nicely which was a nice bonus. :) for what it is—a natural product, cheap, and diy friendly—it works really well. definitely worth a try as an alternative to harsh chemical products. ... show more

It is AMAZING will buy again! I have light brown hair and it made it perfectly dark brown. Works like a light natural hair dye.😀

  • Great color---bad reaction to
Color: Medium Brown Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Color turned out great... But it's been over a week and my scalp is still burning and itching like crazy. Pure henna allergic reactions are extremely rare. Allergic reaction to something else that's cut into the henna is not so rare. I really want to believe that nothing else was cut into this henna. Yes there's Indigo in it too, to create the darker shade. I've been using henna for years and have never had a reaction this bad.. a couple times there was a little bit of itching when I had it on my hair but then it went away as soon as I rinse it out. Something's not right!! I highly recommend doing a patch test and even waiting a couple days as reactions to impurities can crop up later. ... show more

  • This Henna Works for Me
Color: Dark Brown Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I have been using Rainbow Henna for years and it works great on my hair. It doesn't dry it out and leaves a nice reddish tint to my hair. I can't use regular chemical dyes, because of allergic reactions and I rather just forego toxic chemicals being added directly into my bloodstream. So, this is the reason I chose Rainbow Henna. If you follow the directions and look online for further ways to enhance the usage of Henna, then this will make your hair look shiny and full of color. If you don't follow the instructions, then you may have differing results. Be forewarned that this is messy and to use gloves, plus put some sort of balm around your hairline and face, as to not leave stains on your skin. ... show more

  • Doesn't cover grays, but blends really well!
Color: Medium Brown Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
If you have mostly gray, you might have to either get a much darker shade or be ok with copper hair instead of brown. That being said, as someone with roughly 25% gray, this is a great alternative to permanent dye. While it doesn't actually cover my gray, it blends them really well so it looks like natural highlights instead. The chestnut brown gives grays a deep copper hue, rather than brown. On hair that is still pigmented, the henna is very conditioning and adds a lovely richness. Made my neutral brown hair look very warm. The conditioning effect lasts through quite a few washes. Downside is that it can be difficult to saturate all hair, and if you have a lot of hair, expect to be making more than a couple batches. Great natural alternative to dyes! ... show more

  • ChesNOT
Color: Medium Brown Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I bought this because, after having had chemically dyed hair for over a year in red, I was ready to return to a color closer to my original (which is a Chestnut type color). Its been over 6 months now since I last dyed my hair and I chose Henna because I'm allergic to hair dye and didn't want to spend two days on Benadryl again. I thought I had followed the directions perfectly - but I think they were confusing. I was under the impression that adding tea would give my hair a browner color as I had been warned it could be more reddish, so I substituted black tea for water, added 2 T. of sweet almond oil and left it on my medium length hair for an hour. It was DARK. Very dark. While I succeeded in making it brown, in the end it stripped all the red from it completely, leaving a lack-luster, brownish brassy color which was about 2-3 shades darker than my normal hair color. I think maybe if I'd done it without any additives it might have been the color on the box, but then again I'm not sure as afterwards I learned that the indigo may potentially darken *further* as it oxidizes. Currently, I am currently trying to lighten it back to at least a medium brown and exploring whether I can tint it with red henna to bring back some color to it (like a dark auburn or something). The image is after following the instructions to strip with dish soap, using a mixture of coconut/olive oil, washing with BS and rinsing with ACV. It did let some of my highlights through after that and lost the brassy/green tinge. Hopefully that means the indigo won’t darken further, but I guess I’ll see. Those with more experience with Henna than me may be able to tell if adding the black tea would really have made it so different from the intended color but, as for myself, I can only say that it was NOT chestnut. ... show more

  • Covers gray, leaves hair softer and richer color
Color: Medium Brown Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I've been using this for several years now. I have thin, brown hair that was starting to turn gray. By mixing hot tea, henna, a little apple cider vinegar to help cover gray and coconut oil as conditioner, and then heating for 45 minutes and then leaving on another hour or two, I consistently get full coverage of gray as well as richer but natural looking brown hair with red highlights, and softer/healthier as well. The only catch is that if I cover all my hair rather than just roots (a bit tricky as I have short, thin hair), my hair gets a few shades darker over time, but still looks very nice and natural. Yes, there is an earthy smell when you do this (and I don't really mind it) and takes 15-20 minutes to really rinse all of it out, but if you do this regularly gets easier and easier and pretty relaxing. I don't worry about staining any more as thick enough consistency to stay where I put it and washes out of sink or tub with no problem. Washes off skin as well. ... show more
