First things first, you definitely need a drill in order to build this hutch. With that being said, once I had a drill, it was relatively easy for me to assemble on my own. Some of the wood pieces split slightly when I was assembling it, but it didn't seem to affect it overall. It's on wheels so easy for moving around and cleaning. My bunny loves it! She loves using the top part as her sleep area and even though the ramp is steep, she can use it just fine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Great Hutch, Solid Design So far I’m very happy with this hutch and am giving it 5 stars. It took two people to assemble, and I highly recommend using an impact drill—trying to put this together with just a screwdriver would be very difficult. The wood has a natural, fresh wood smell, which I loved. The instructions were fairly simple and easy to follow. We did experience a bit of wood splitting when inserting screws, but once we learned to avoid placing screws too close to the edges, it wasn’t an issue. My rabbit went inside right away with no hesitation. The ramp leading down to the lower level is a little steep, so my bunny is still figuring it out, but I expect that to improve with time. I absolutely love the wheels on the bottom—this hutch is lightweight, glides smoothly, and is easy to move around. Overall, great quality, thoughtful design, and I would definitely recommend this hutch. ... show more

So it 100% stank like chemicals so bad when it arrived. We left it outside for 3 weeks then rinsed with the hose to be safe. Would not recommend for rabbits, it's way too small. It is perfect for rats, hamsters, guinea pigs or maybe even a chinchilla or ferret (onlt if they're let out a lot). Aside from the nasty smell on arrival, it is as advertised, it's large (for our 2 rats) and sturdy and seems well constructed. You do have to assemble it and that's kinda a pain, but is to be expected. My rats chew cages sometimes and have not chewed this one at all, it has a lot of wire to prevent much chewing. I recommend a hammock in the large open section. It has a ton of doors. I say it's worth the buy, but expect the stink. ... show more

I read all the reviews and issues people had with putting the rabbit hutch together, the paint, the quality of the wood and so on. I am very happy I did not let those reviews deter me from purchasing this adorable bunny hutch. 1st, I unboxed all the pieces and everything was accounted for. I laid them out in order. The letters are faintly printed on the under edge. Nothing was damaged or in poor condition. For those that say it’s flimsy, it is a lightweight soft wood but I can assure you if put together properly it is very sturdy. 2nd, After reading some of the reviews I decided to purchase wood glue and clear silicone caulk to ensure everything would be sealed tight. I didn’t have to use much of either. Really didn’t need it at all but I thought, it wouldn’t hurt while assembling. I put wood glue in the holes before inserting the dowel pegs and I caulked where the wood meets up on the bottom and sides (on the inside). Basically, as if I were caulking new trim work. If those that say it leaks are correct, I’m hoping I addressed that problem before it arises. 3rd, I did take my time with each step to ensure no boards split and to ensure everything was screwed in properly. All screws and siding aligned perfectly. A view notes for items in the hutch. We have a larger stainless steel litter box and it’s a tad bit big in the lower area and does not fit upstairs. The ramp is a little steep for small bunnies, we have a Holland Lop. She is a bit afraid to go down the ramp. I thought the bottom had the same wire fencing as the sides but it doesn’t, only the tray. We placed pads on both trays then bedding. The 3 doors and roof opening is amazing for cleaning, rearranging and feeding. The wheels make this hutch movable with little effort. All in all, this hutch deserves 5 stars! It’s perfect for one small rabbit! I hope this review helps anyone discouraged by the negative reviews. ... show more

Do not buy this hutch if the animal you’re buying it for has the potential to chew on the wood! We bought this for my daughter’s tiny show rabbit. It’s a very cute hutch and she loved it but after a few months her rabbit developed severe digestive problems. We went to the vet, administered critical care, changed foods/timothy hay brands, switched his bedding, cleaned constantly. You name it we tried it. Eventually we changed his entire set up and moved the hutch to the porch where we have free roaming (porch kept) non-show rabbits. Within 2 weeks these rabbits (who have never had a digestive issue in the 5 years we’ve had them) started to not be able to have a bowel movement. They were severely impacted and then had explosive diarrhea just like the show rabbit. Finally it clicked in my head - the show rabbit and porch bunnies only commonality was THIS hutch. They’ve never even been in the same area of the house together, they’ve never met each other and they have different food brands. So I immediately pulled the hutch out, waited a week to verify and sure enough they are healthy and back to normal. The porch bunnies were rescued and have always loved outdoors so they are much more aggressive chewers than the show rabbit which is why I think it affected them so much quicker and more violently. I’m not going to add photos because it’s grotesque but I assure you we’ve had them vet checked and they’re all healthy again. Please please don’t buy this thing, what ever the wood/materials are coated with will make your animals sick if it’s ingested regularly. I completely disassembled and destroyed it before throwing it away so no one picked it up and tried to reuse it. ... show more

If you are buying this for chewers, don't. I am partially to blame for deciding to buy a wooden cage for a rat, but the description does say for rabbits and other small animals. I thought maybe the size and construction was durable enough, which is why it was being noted that other small animals could use it. Assembly: easy enough, I did it by myself, but two people would make this easier. I believe that two people is recommended in the directions. I did have an issue with a couple pieces not having a letter marked on them. I also had an issue the the hinges on the ramp into the upper level not being fastened correctly (crooked), so I had to fix that so the ramp would screw on properly. I also did not have pre-fixed holes for the outer ramp for the hooks. Cleaning: The tray is easy to clean, and being able to slide the entire thing out is very nice. That being said, it's wood, and small animals don't always do what we want when they eliminate. Cleaning urine out of wood isn't really possible. Design: I love the design, it looks nice in my living room. Not just your average critter cage. Within a week of having this, he was already chewing on the wood on the inside of the cage itself, where the bottom sliding tray inserts. About two weeks ago,I noticed that in one corner, he was able to start chewing where the plastic tray is secured to the wood. This ultimately allowed him to chew a hole through the wood, allowing him an escape. After I closed this, he was able to chew through the plastic tray, and escape through the bottom. Overall, I do not recommend this is you're housing a small, natural chewing pet. I would imagine that rabbits can put in work chewing too, but perhaps due to their size, there isn't much concern for escape. So as not to be the blame, my rat has plenty of chewing toys, a large chewing log, gets fed with puzzles so he has to forage, and gets significant time outside of his cage at least once daily so that he doesn't get bored/frustrated.
