We couldn't be happier with the RW Flame A-36" Electric Fireplace Insert (36" x 27"). This is an easy 5-star product for us - and we would absolutely buy it again. We converted our traditional wood-burning fireplace to this electric insert because we were tired of the mess, smoke smell, ash cleanup, and hauling wood. Best decision ever. This unit completely transformed our living room into a cozy, relaxing, and actually usable space again. Installation: Surprisingly straightforward. The recessed design fit beautifully into our existing fireplace opening. Once in place, it looks clean and built-in - not like an add-on. If you're reasonably handy, installation is very manageable. Appearance & Flame Effects: The flame display is impressive. The adjustable flame colors and brightness settings let you customize the look depending on mood - warm and traditional or more modern and colorful. The flames look realistic and create a relaxing ambiance even without heat on. Heat Output: This unit puts out excellent heat. The 750W - 1500W settings allow flexibility depending on room size and need. It easily warms our living room and takes the chill off quickly. The built-in timer is a great feature for evening use. Controls: We love the touch screen panel and the included remote control. It's convenient to adjust flame color, brightness, temperature, and timer without getting up. At first, I was worried because there were no spots on back or sides to mount in my former fireplace. Ultimately, I put it on a stand and then used caulk on the tile to fix into place and it's very sturdy. Do NOT attempt to unscrew anything. Anyway, the heater looks great, the cost was low, and the heat output is noticeable.

Great, easy & affordable install for us after considering a gas insert for a couple of months ($350 vs $4350). Not quite the same thing, of course, but works well enough for us. We had about a 3” gap along the top, which was easily addressed by setting the unit on bricks to elevate & fill the space. Great idea thanks to other reviews, it was my biggest hang up ;) Things I wish were better: 1-Remote control barely works, but unit has controls on front that work great. Seems to be a common issue from all the comments I’ve read. 2-Box should really have cut-out handles to make easier to lift, but manageable without. Work doing when catering to a direct consumer though. 3-Heat output has 2x levels, but really wish it came out from bottom of unit, not the top. Maybe not possible or problematic from an engineering standpoint, but would greatly enhance the effect. With all of those issues aside, we have really enjoyed this unit for all the reasons listed above. Thanks!

This item worked great for a few weeks then started going off and flashing lights like it had short in it. Goes off by self so it over 30 days so I guess I’m stuck with something that does not work.

We stopped using our gas fireplace. We never tried an insert until this year(2025). I like it! The heater gives the livingroom a nice cozy look and warmth. The flames comes in several different colors & so does the logs. It has a timer on it. I feel much safer using this fireplace insert than fooling around with a gas one. The price was reasonable too.
