I dont have much to compare this to, as it was the first time cleaning a carberator for me. With that being said, it seemed to work well. I followed the directions, and it did clear quite a bit of smoke as the directions stated would happen. Engine runs great now!

I used this on my 79 Mercury 80hp and it improved compression, performance and the starting time of my motor. If you have an older outboard this is a must have. You won't be disappointed.

    • Litteraly blew all the gunk out of my outboard
I did an overhaul on our 87 Evinrude 40hp outboard this spring. New plugs, wires, coils, power pack, timer, etc. Rebuilt and re-sinked the carbs. Still ran a little rough (for a 2-stroke). Figured I'd give this cleaner a whirl. I did like the directions said. Ran the engine till it was up to temp, then started spraying this in the carbs. Just before the can was empty, I started spraying heavy until it stalled. Let it set for 24 hrs, then fired it back up. It sputtered a bit, as expected, then once it warmed up it smoothed out. Let it run for about 5 minutes with the earmuffs on in our lawn. When I shut it off, there was a 1'x2' area under the prop that was black. Seems like it burned out all the old oil and carbon build up. Engine now seems to start and run a lot better. Would definitively recommend giving this a try if you're having similar issues. I'll probably run this through each spring now (as advertised) to stay ahead of it. ... show more
