I’ve been searching for an affordable replacement desk lamp for the past month. I was generally disappointed with what I’d seen at local discount and office supply stores. The low-end budget options, (priced from $15-$30), generally lacked style and looked very cheap. The next level of quality, which I generally focused on, were lamps priced from $40-$100. There were good options in this category, but I wasn’t sure that I needed to spend that much on my modest at-home setup. This Honeywell lamp fits the bill for me, and its dimensions were about right. Touch controls are intuitive and I liked the various light temperature options and the easy-to-use finger slide brightness control. The range of brightness should be acceptable to most users. The low light setting is nice when one prefers a muted, “mood” effect. Do be aware that there is no sideways swivel to the lamp's positioning functionality. The approximate 12 inch light bar only rises and lowers. Most users will likely position it at a level where it adequately illuminates the work space, but not at a location where you'd get a distracting "in your eyes" light glare. Admittedly this product is a lightweight, plastic construction fixture, so it does feel like a budget lamp. You’ll note that the product descriptive references “aluminum” base and shade. This is misleading. Any aluminum components are unseen and/or is hidden by an entirely plastic (polycarbonate) covering. Still, though, those with modest expectations, who really don’t want to spend a lot of $, should be satisfied. The lamp looks reasonable and performs as promised. Long term satisfaction and durability remain a wildcard. At the current price point, it’s acceptable. Remember it’s a $30 lamp, (as of this writing.) Four stars for the quality/price dynamic in my opinion. ... show more

That must have been rectified, because the various buttons, including the power button are very easy to use and locate on this lamp. It has several lighting options. It also has a timer. The base is weighted just right - more than adequate to provide very solid stability, yet it doesn't feel heavy. The joints are stiff enough to solidly hold position, but not overly stiff.
