Although the description uses the words Vita-Mix and vita-mix a lot, I strongly suspect this is a knock-off. That being said, this is a heavy, sturdy metal container that appears to be stainless steel and works well with my Vita-Mix 5200 blender. The lid is plastic, but sturdy plastic. Be sure to push it until it snaps on well or, like me, you will have soup all over the counter. The bottom doesn’t fit as tightly as the container that comes with the blender, but it also doesn’t seem to move around due to weight. I hold it on the top while running it just to be sure. It is shorter and wider than the container that comes with the blender so the lids are not interchangeable. I was pleased with both the $ saved and the warm, smooth soup it produced.

Replaced our plastic container as we are trying to reduce plastics in our kitchen. It works fine but the top doesn’t stay sealed. You have to hold it down or the liquid seeps out the sides. Not a huge deal; more of an annoyance.

Blades are definitely not as sharp as OEM. I thought maybe my smoothies were turning out way more powdery and not well mixed, separating quickly after blending that it was several newer powders I was putting in my smoothies. But I looked at and felt the blades, total lack of quality. They are significantly dull. The worst part is that the blade nut size is only 0.020" smaller than OEM. So I can't fit the original Vitamix blades in this stainless container. I'm just returning this thing. The hole for the blade nut being smaller than Vitamix manufactured blade assemblies kills it. Don't have assurance that any other aftermarket blade assembly will fit.

Our Vitamix blender’s pitcher developed a crack in it near the base which leaked. So we tried this metal pitcher but it failed to blend as well as the Vitamix pitcher’s blades.

I purchased this to make nut milks in, using hot water (and doing it in plastic is not wise). The spout is a little wider and less deep than the original vitamix pitcher, and the plastic on the lid is similiar to the dry measuring pitcher lid - but it's been working great. My only complaint is I miss the measuring line of 1 cup in the pitcher (as the marks start off at 2 cups). For me, this is so important, that I'm thinking of returning it.
