I purchased this to replace the beater that came with my KitchenAid mixer. The original did not have the rubber side and after a few washes it began to chip. I’ve used this one dozens of times and no chipping. It also scrapes the sides of the mixing bowl very efficiently.

Original beater was chipping so no longer safe to use. This one scraps the sides well. Definitely find out what size bowl you have as I accidentally ordered a larger one first. This came very quickly, just in time for Christmas cookie baking!

I was a little nervous about buying this ... because I wasn't sure it would "fit" to scrape evenly. I was worried for nothing!
