I used Turquoise and Cherry on Top together. Easy to use much less effort than standard hair dye. But, do yourself a favor and order or have on hand some gloves. It does tend to stain your hands and all that you get is the tub of color. Vibrant color for weeks and it is less harsh on my hair than using boxed dye options. It is really easy to use, just open and apply to your hair, let it sit and rinse out in the shower. The punky color smells a little fruity to me but does not have a harsh fragrance. You can create a lot of different looks by using multiple colors together. I have a naturally medium reddish brown hair color, and I can use Punky and get bright vibrant colors and do not need to pre-lighten or bleach my hair at all. My hair feels soft after, I follow it up with my regular conditioner. But I see no damage to my hair at all when using this. Highly recommend if you want to try some vibrant colors without causing damage to your hair with bleaching first. I don't think I'll ever dye my hair. I have dark DARK brown curly hair. Dying curly hair is a big no no for me because I love my curls and curls are hard to maintain as is, adding any type of chemical is a big NO. HOWEVER I do dream of putting color on my hair at least once. The cherry red actually worked. However if your expecting Ariel red without processing your hair, you're dreaming. I got a beautiful red tint to my hair that is still visible even after 2 months. Whenever I am in the sun, you can see a beautiful red/maroon tint that I absolutely adore. I was worried about it staining my tub, so I did minimal rinses and then bleached the tub right away so my mother doesnt kick me. It didnt stain my clothes but it did stain my pillow cases. I left it on for 2 hours and it worked wonderfully. I did 2 passes, both on different occasions. 1 bottle was fine for me bc I dont have much hair. I did notice my hair became a bit dry. However, to give them the benefit of the doubt, its winter and my hair needs all the moisture it can get bc it can dry out. Did my deep conditioning and all, my hairs still pretty good! I am most definitely gonna try this again! Gonna do red hair for the summer and I'm so looking forward to it. ... show more

Overall, I was really pleased with this! I've never dyed my hair and was very nervous. I only wanted to dye the under part of my hair. After looking at a few complaints in the reviews, I wanted to share a few tips. It is a dye. For those that rinse it out standing up, of course it's going to dye your skin. And yes, if you rinse out while standing up, it's going to splatter and make a mess. I got as close to the shower floor as I could and rinsed my hair - if you can do this in a sink or in a tub under the faucet, that's probably easier. It's still going to stain your tub a bit - don't freak out. Originally I was like WTF did I just do. I sprayed the tub down with a general bathroom cleaner and used a magic eraser and it was good as new. I do recommend not leaving the shower curtain down if you care about it lol it does get color on it. If you have any on your skin, nail polish remover works wonders but I did notice my hands cleaned up pretty easily. I would recommend wearing gloves, I did and didn't have any issues but I saw where people complain it stained their hands. Again guys, it's a stain. It...stains 😆 The first couple of times you wash it out, it might bleed a bit but it shouldn't stain your skin. It didn't bleed noticeably to my top layer when I washed my hair which was a relief. Lasted about 4 months without bleaching on my dirty blonde hair. Absolutely loved the color, got so many compliments. Did stain bathtub but I was able to get it all off with some nail polish remover and some good scrubbing. I would also use a dark towel and pillowcase for the first couple weeks after your initial dye to prevent staining other things. ... show more

I was looking for another alternative to Overtone because I can’t stand how Overtone smells (I don’t like mint). I came across this in my search and figured I’d give it a shot. I loved the color Cherry On Top. The smell is sweet but has a *slight* chemical smell, but it’s nothing I’m not use to when dealing with hair dye. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a semi permanent dye, therefore it’s more like a stain. It will continue to wash out little by little because it doesn’t use any developer like a permanent dye would. I have medium to dark brown hair. I was very impressed at the coverage at first. The first 3 week were great. It did dye my scalp so I did have to scrub at that for a couple days after using this. After week three you could see my normal brassy red color I had prior to using Punky Color. Long review short, it’s great for a quick color change or to try a new color without a BIG commitment. I do not bleach my hair anymore so I was looking for a dye that wasnt going to harm my hair but add a little color tint to me. As you can see in the photos it was a BOOM lol. The color does do a lot of running when I condition my hair. But its not horrible. I have not experienced any rubbing off on clothes when the hair is dry. It smells good. I suggest gloves!! lol It washes off but you will be stained for a few days. I already ordered another one because I didn't pay attention on the size of the jar. I have a lot of hair so there are spots that were missed but I did order another one. I will be trying other colors in the future. ... show more

I bought cherry on top which is a red color. My hair is naturally dark brown so I didn’t expect the color to be vibrant at all. It ended up giving my hair a purple/maroon tint. Now, I would’ve been satisfied with this product. But the reason for me not being satisfied & coming here to write this review is because this very product has me extremely frustrated. I put this color in my hair a week ago. I have washed my hair 5 times already. Everytime my hair gets wet it just drips this pink/red color. I literally just spent an hour in the shower, washing my hair the entire time & these pics was taken AFTER that shower. You can see the red dripping off my hair. My hands are pink/red after putting flexirods in my hair. The first day I put it in I rinsed the color out in my utility sink. The sink to this day is still stained pink. My pillow cases & towels have been stained pink. Overall I will never buy this product again. I was trying to stay away from actual dye with chemicals but this whole process makes me just want to put actual die in my hair. Never again!! ... show more
